Hey, BraveCo Men! Listen in for this week’s episode of our “Makings of a Man” series, as Jason interviews pastor, father, and revivalist, Bill Johnson, in this convicting conversation on the core value of faith.
We begin this episode by sharing the inspirational story of the life of Nelson Mandela, whose victory was not just political but also a profound testament to the power of faith and resilience in overcoming oppression and injustice. Arrested for his activism, Mandela spent 27 years in prison, enduring harsh conditions and separation from his family. Mandela's unwavering belief in a better future fueled his resolve, even in the darkest moments. Upon his release, he led a peaceful transition from apartheid to democracy, ultimately becoming South Africa's first black president.
For many of us men, we find ourselves grappling with two types of faith: faith in God, who we are serving, and faith in what we are doing. Having a conviction of what we have been assigned to can sometimes be much easier than living a life in purity of heart-but the ease doesn’t make it right.
There are a lot of men who have faith in the mission and assignment of their lives, but find themselves standing shakily in trusting the One who has led them to their mission or work. We can be committed to our jobs, our assignments, and roles, and not always have purity of heart. When we offer ourselves to the Lord for His glory, we maintain what is precious and invaluable: the constant awareness of God’s presence and Person.
We hope this episode encourages our men to grow in faith, purity of heart, and the celebration of what God is doing.
Bill Johnson is a fifth-generation pastor with a rich heritage in the Holy Spirit. He has been pastor of Bethel Church since 1996 with a one-word mission statement: revival. Bill’s priority in life has been to learn how to host the Presence of God and minister to Him, and in fruit, he has remained passionate about seeing the Kingdom of Heaven invade Earth across all spheres of influence.
