    BTW, as to 6:26: What you believe to be antennas - and so did I for ages - is actually a safety feature, called wire strike protection system or WSPS, which is meant to deflect and cut any surface cables the aircraft might fly into before they get tangled into the skids or main rotor. Just another amazing little detail on this model! Got one of them, too, and even though I am not half as good a pilot as you guys, I have been perfectly comfortable with it right away.

    Mode 2 - Left stick = rudder (left/right), throttle/pitch (up/down) Right Stick = Aileron (left/right), Elevator = Up/down...I'm so glad that you guys are doing helicopter videos! Lots of love from the USA! God bless you guys!

    • @iforce2d
      @iforce2d 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      For a heli yaw/roll/pitch seems more appropriate. It describes the actual motion instead of an airplane part, helis don't have rudders, ailerons or elevators :)

    As a longtime 3D heli pilot, it warms my heart to see you guys fly a helicopter! Maybe this is the beginning of branching out more into flying rotors. Awesome job flying Captain Blaz. You guys are the best!

    Hi there guys, congrats on another entertaining video!
    I didn't check all the comments to see if anyone has said this yet, but I'll say it just in case. I think the word he was thinking of was "roll". In mode 2, on the left stick, up/down is for throttle, & left/right is for rudder (or yaw). On the right stick, up/down is for pitch, & left/right is for roll. Also, the little spiky looking things aren't antennas, but wire cutters. These are to minimise the threat of cable strike related crashes. I used to think they were antennas too!😄
    Great little heli though! It's XK brother, the AS350, is also very cool.

  • @roncfpv
    @roncfpv 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    A rare helicopter review from Petroviv brothers! Not bad. Helicopters is fundamentally different from plane in that need to push down (stick forward) to fly forward, whereas for planes, the natural motion is to pull.

    You guys are reading my mind!
    I was waiting for your next video to ask if we could see some helis on your channel, and here you are!
    Regarding the throttle stick, heli pilots remove the part that gives you the notches when moving the stick.
    That gives you a smother pitch.
    But you were doing awsome with this little beauty!

    Nice demo of this XK heli. Btw, you may know by now, but there are 3 flight modes available for this heli. 6G, fully self leveling, much like a quadcopter indeed. Throttle stick increases throttle, as well as blade pitch, which is defined by the p-curve. 3G mode is the same, except there is no self leveling, but you still can't fly inverted. If you combine 3G mode with idle up, things change a lot, the motor will mostly run at fixed speed, close to full throttle, and the throttle stick will almost entirely control blade pitch, offering the similar angle for negative pitch, as positive pitch. Throttle stick above center gives positive pitch, throttle stick below center then gives negative pitch, allowing inverted flight tricks.

    Great job Captain Blaz! The helicopter out of the box with the gyro on is what makes the xk helis worth the price. Helix are hard to learn and the gyro system makes them flyable to the non-experienced rc heli pilot! I personally like the xk system because unlike safe by eflite it does not cost an arm and a leg to buy the aircraft equipped with it. Planes like the elite apprentice are good planes but elite charges a premium to buy it!

    Beautiful Flight, Hermanos . Years later & after same model by defunct Helimax esc burned out 3 of these were ordered bnf just days ago. One XK mechanics in Helimax fuselage & now will be Flying all on Futaba s protocol. 20 Century technology , non smart , no censoring devices & although quite limited your not bound to proprietary batteries, economical & still around.

    • @elpunto231

      Rob Newman oh thanks....motionrc has got a lot small planes you can try

    • @russc3288
      @russc3288 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rob - before I bought my first plane I practiced on an RC simulator. I'm glad I did because other wise my plane would have been trashed. Even then I had an experienced flyer next to me on my first flight with the Apprentice. After several hours I felt confident in flying myself. First thing to keep in mind is that that Prop will seperate your fingers from your body. Safety is paramount in this hobby.
      If your in the USA I'd recommend getting a AMA membership. It comes with a nice RC magazine and more importantly - insurance in case of an accident. Find a group to learn from and a field that has plenty of space to fly. Those that fly in neighborhoods or in and around cars or people are just asking for a lawsuit - I dont care how good they think they are.
      Good luck on your first plane and remember that Prop. Just ask me how I know. :)
      Russ

    • @rdnewman1965
      @rdnewman1965 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Russ C , thanks for your reply. I will look into the simulator and if there are any clubs near me. I have run Tamiya RC cars in the past, but planes and helicopters are a whole new world. Again, thank you for the information and your consideration. Cheers!

    Good wishes from Scotland ... and its good to see you introducing helicopters into your video collection. Sound advice to start with 6g, before trying out 3g, and good to see you using a collective pitch helicopter rather than a coaxial. As other subscribers comment, once you "get hooked on helis" you'll no doubt want to move up the classes....to a 550 and above, as happened to me. However, I like flying my micro helicopters in my house, whenever the weather outside isn't good for flying....I like bringing my helicopters back home in one piece, ready to fly again. It's a pretty steep learning curve with helis, but it's worth every minute let me tell you. Hope to see more helicopters in your future videos as I feel the hobby needs enthusiasts like yourselves, promoting interest in them . With your large subscriber base, promoting helicopters will help bring new starts into the hobby. As you know, you don't need an extensive runway to fly them. Once again, it's a pleasure tuning into your channel.

    Greetings from Bolivia. I love watching your videos. It seems that you always have GREAT fun flying different models. I wish I could have the same nerves and the good sense of humor. Keep posting.... I will buy this helicopter and will let you know if I can fly it at 8500 feet (2500 meters) in my hometown Cochabamba. Cheers...

    you can put a little tape on the rear stabilizers so they dont pop off so easily.i also have that radio and use it on all XK models i have, or will buy in the future.the heli is like flying a quad. just throttle up and then pitch a little forward and then use the left stick left and right to steer it. or, like a quad, you can steer it just using the right stick to pitch, or make it lean in whatever direction. just like a quadcopter.

    • @elpunto231
      @elpunto231 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lee Maples yes i will do that...and i just love this small heli...

  • @darkracer1252
    @darkracer1252 ปีที่แล้ว

    also the canopy is really really tricky. you might need to move some of the wires around a little.
    i just fly without it. so the light isn't draining the battery. and the rotors are cooling the battery.

    If you have never flown a helicopter and that heli does not have coaxial blades (two blades one on top of the other spinning in the opposite direction) then very well done for a first timer.

  • @darkracer1252
    @darkracer1252 ปีที่แล้ว

    08:20 wrong.
    you could plug it in while it's upside down and it would still be fine.
    the gyro is calibrated in the factory. and you can even recalibrate the gyro yourself by pushing both sticks to the bottom outsides.
    a light on the motherboard should flash and it's recalibrating the gyro.
    you also don't need to have the transmitter turned on before you turn on the helicopter. the helicopter will not initialise untill you turn on the transmitter. (stays red light untill transmitter is turned on)

    P curve ie "Pitch curve" it the way a real heli rotate the blade to go up it moves the swash plate up and down. So the angle of the blade changes. Not the speed
