One thing to note if you ever have to re-box the vacuum to move: be very careful with the positioning of the control dial. It is VERY fragile. Be sure to save the styrofoam if you're keeping the box, as it will help to keep the button from being crushed into the box side.
The rubber coating is for when you not using the wand and resting against a wall. it won't damage the wall
