While watching the fight, I thought Cabbage broke his ribs rather than his arm. I thought at the time that this had been achieved by one of Butterbean's 400lb bodyshots, and that this must have been during the second round, given Cabbage's more or less complete dominance during the first round.
I also love how afterwards they're standing there completely at ease with one another, with one missing several teeth and the other sporting a broken elbow. Nutters!

I can't believe I heard people booing at the end of this fight. What a disrespect to two guys who showed incredible resilience and gave 100%, just for there entertainment. And what class at the end of the fight especially by Cabbage, showing both of these fighters are pure heart and very little ego, just doing what they love.
I think it's because it looked like BB was kneeing the other guy in the nads a few times in a row. I think if he was hitting him there though that Cabbage would have raised a stink.

I watched Cabbage's UFC fights. I remember that he has excellent power combinations and a large, concrete head that is unfazed by heavy punches. The Bean does not look like an athlete, but he moves well for such a huge man. When he's fresh, he actually is light on his feet.

Butterbean was a superb athlete. He was spooky fast for his size, and his stamina, especially for his size, was out of this world. He was a genuine freak. I remember his VO2 max was confirmed to be that of an elite endurance athlete.

You knew Bean was gonna bring it and force his opponent into an entertaining fight. He would usually win with a brutal KO. He was an absolute Legend on Tuesday Night Fights.
He wasn't nearly as appreciated in the 90's as he would later become.
Respect to both these fighters I thought they’d last about 1/2 round before they dropped from exhaustion but these Warriors kept it up. Two thumbs waaaay up👍👍
Both of them did a great job in there! Butterbean always impresses me. His cardio and toughness is amazing. He was being hit with elbows hard enough to knock out his teeth, and it never even slowed him down. Cabbage was fighting most of the time with a broken arm. You have to respect how tough and dangerous both of them are. That was awesome.

I'm not saying that Butterbean is a marathoner, but none of those guys were carrying 400 pounds, OR having to deal with wrestling and kicking during their fights either. These kinds of fights gave Butterbean a career, because he would have no chance in a straight up heavyweight boxing match against the top tier heavyweights.

Cabbage can take some serious shots too. Many of his fights he gets blasted and doesn't seem to phase him when you would certainly expect it to. He's a damn good fighter.

Met Butterbean 7 years ago at a small casino he came to watch the local fights. I sat down and 5 minutes later he walks in and sits right next to me, I was lucky enough to chat with him, he is such a good, incredibly humble person.

Butterbean basically can't be knocked out, MULTIPLE hard elbows to HEAD and he just spits out his teeth and keeps going. So he's a man that you aren't going to knock out and you definitely don't want to stand toe to toe because he has bricks for hands and a bowling ball for a head. Your only option is make him tired and try to submit in a hold.
I mean that has to be scary you throw massive elbows to a guy in the face multiple times so hard you break your arm and he's still standing.
a loss is a loss does not need to be a knockout for a win butter has lost 3 fights by this point and he is an ok fighter but if he was fighting anyone worth mentioning he would be killed in mma

I just had to cheer for Butterbean. What a tough guy, and he seems genuinely nice.
One hell of a fight, congratulations to both.... Courage, strength and stamina is what it's all about.... In straight boxing, along with all the afore mentioned, skill makes the real difference... it seems to me.
This is one of my favourite fights ever.
I know for the Bean at his age and size it's probably too little (or too much) too late to train in any significant grappling, but at least a little clinch training couldn't have hurt.
But I guess he didn't end up needing it.
