I made my first drawstring bag from this video! I added boxed corners at the bottom, and I'm going to use it as a produce bag. I can't wait to make more! Thank you!!!
Thanks to your clear and well articulated instructions, me, a sewing novice, just made a fantastic set of Christmas bags in all different sizes to do away with the misery of wrapping for hours on Christmas Eve - not to mention reducing waste. I used an old pair of huge gold curtains I got off Freecycle which was easy sturdy fabric
In the U.S. we call calico "muslin." There are different weights. We use the term "calico" for small floral print cotton quilting fabric. And your muslin is called "gauze" here!
In Australia we call this fabric calico, muslin is a really lightweight fabric that looks creased and we wrap babies in, in summer. Gauze is even more open weave like cheesecloth
As a beginner, this is just what I was looking for and really clearly explained. This is now going to be one of my go-to patterns. Thanks so much for sharing your skills and talent 👍
Thanknyou so much for these clear and simple instructions. Just knocked out 4 beautiful gift bags for my children to use as laundry sacks after Christmas. Wish I could upload a photo to show you. Thank you again. Merry Christmas and a joyful new year❤
Thank you so much for this very easy and simple video tutorial. I was struggling this morning then decided to search TH-cam and found your video. Mission accomplished. Great job.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I replaced my blood pressure monitor bag using your tutorial. The flimsy bags that come with it never last. So I made a stylish bag thanks to you❤
This is just the simple, finished looking bag I was looking for. Will be ideal for presenting other gifts in as well as making shoes bags for traveling and many other uses. Thank you.
The best little bag on TH-cam! I no longer stress about wrapping gifts, I just make a bag! 😁 So much nicer and they are alway well received. Thank you x
After trying several videos to make a drawstring bag and then being ok but not quite right (I’m a novice sewer) I found your video, omg so simple and whilst they are not perfect I’m very happy with them, thank you
I too found your video very helpful. At the point where you iron open the hem, we also stitched this point to prevent the hem fabric from coming out the hole when pulling the drawstring.
Oh my goodness I can't begin to tell you how helpful this was to me! The best clearly explained 'how to make a simple drawstring bag' on You Tube. Thank you so much. I have just done this very successfully. I have liked and subscribed.
This is a very helpful video. I had a good idea in my head on how to make a double drawstring bag. After watching the video, I realized my mind was making a bit more complicated than it needed to be. This video saved me from doing a few unnecessary extra steps. Unfortunately, I didn’t have ribbon or cord which matched the fabric I choose to use. Instead, I made some double fold bias tape out off the same fabric and sewed it shut. It worked out well and was a good alternative to the ribbon. Thanks so much for taking the time to make this easy to follow, informative video and sharing it!
Thank you, after watching a couple others, i found yours to be the easiest to follow and quite a lovely bag! Completed the bag and it worked out fantastic for a birthday gift!
Thank you so much! These are great. Bought a sewing machine this week and made a few of these this morning. They look so professional! They were easy to do
This is perfect! I have a lot of silk in my stash and I’m going to make these bags. Also, I knit and get eczema on my hands from the finish on yarn. I have to carefully wash the balls and skeins before I can use them. I’m going to use old sheet material to make bags so I can put the yarn inside the spin cycle on my washing machine. That way they’ll air dry faster. Thank you so much!
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial!! I am helping my daughter make a small cinch bag for her DND dice to go in. I feel it is going to turn out well, thanks to this video.
Love!! I love your video production, your voice, how the video just got straight to the point, and the finished product was excellent! thank you so much
I can make corsets and intricate costumes but never needed to make a drawstring bag before 🙈 brain didn't want to figure out the chanel so thank you!! I'm going to be doing this way more often! ❤
Hey! I sewed along with this tutorial and made a bag for my facial steamer! I’d never made a bag like this and it turned out perfectly! Thank you! ☮️❤️😀
Thank you!!!! I'm watching how to make a quilted bag on another channel and tried to look how she put the drawstrings in the bag but came up short. Thank you again!!!
You might consider zig-zagging around your openings to reinforce them. That area of the bag can get a lot of wear and tear from the drawstrings opening and closing, gliding repeatedly across it.
Woooooow I literally just tried this method and I love this. It is way more efficient than the other styles that are out there. I am very happy to find your video. This will make my work so much easier and faster. Thank you Lou.
Hello from Trish in Hobart, Tasmania, Aust. Thank you so very much for the Tutorial. After a couple of goes I managed to get it right. Looking forward to learning more. Bye
I thought I'd done it... Then somehow messed it up at the end. Oh well I have a wonderful sleeve for my glasses now :') Can't wait to try this again tomorrow.
i dont mean to be so off topic but does anyone know of a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid forgot the login password. I love any tricks you can offer me
@Albert Calvin Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and im trying it out now. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Albert Calvin WTF IT ACTUALLY WORKED! I literally got access to my IG login after roughly 40 minutes by using the site. Had to pay 15 bucks but definitely worth the price =) Thanks so much, you really help me out !
Thank you for doing this video and demystifying what I thought (and is) a simple project! I have made a neat gift bag thanks to you. (despite the safety pin opening inside the drawstring channel and trying to scupper my plans 😅)
So nice to hear a homegrown voice and getting straight to the simple instructions.
This is the simplest video on how to sew a drawstring bag! MANY THANKS!
Glad it was helpful!
I’ve watched so many videos trying to find a simple fast way to make a drawstring bag and this was by far the clearest and simplest. Thank you ❤️
Thank you!
@@LouDavis Thank you so much for this easy to understand video. I really love your sewing machine. Can you please provide the make & model #?

Easiest drawstring bag video I have seen. Came out perfect.
In the U.S. we call calico "muslin." There are different weights. We use the term "calico" for small floral print cotton quilting fabric. And your muslin is called "gauze" here!
And what you call muslin we called gauze!
Oh thank you! That's very helpful to know. I hope I didn't confuse too many people - other than myself!
Calico, gauze and muslin are all different. You can get all 3 in the UK
Muslin has a very distinctive weave. Its calico in this video.
In Australia we call this fabric calico, muslin is a really lightweight fabric that looks creased and we wrap babies in, in summer. Gauze is even more open weave like cheesecloth
Same in NZ
