Most people I talk to say that I shouldn't use less the a #8 but prefer a #6 wire for my trolling motor. Not sure how far the battery will be but not more than 6 feet most likely and probably less the 3. I am using a 55 Ahr battery in a battery box which will also power a Fish finder and a few other minor accessories. What gauge wire would you suggest, as it looks like your are probably using #10 on yours.
I have only used 10G on several kayak builds and have never had a problem. In my opinion, the amp draw wire gauge charts add in a large factor of safety.
l like your Video? But is there anyway you can show use viewers how you wired 100amp PWM l purchase one , but there's know markings how to hook up power & motor l don't won't to burn it up. Thanks
There should be marking on the circuit board if you remove the case. I have made different versions of the box. This video shows the wiring. th-cam.com/video/M-StVVUvlJk/w-d-xo.html
Awesome, I need to know what wire you used to do the remote. I want to do this but mount the dial and switch into my pvc steering rod. It will be about a 6 foot run down the pipe and i plan to mount the dial and swithc into pvc fittings on the end of the pvc pipe. Also which pwm did you use.
@@Aksmaniyak thanks, Hoping i can do this for mine. The current thought is to use a pvc T with the speed dial in the straight part of the T and the switch in the upright part of the T and the other straight going into my existing steering rod. working out all the mounting stuff i am now of the mind set that i want to mount the pwm itself in my new ice chest/tackle crate/power box lol. The idea is to have a all in one box i can take in and out of my yak, But a quick connect from the steering rod to actual pwm would be great, Any recommendations for a quick connect for that 8 conductor wire?
Sir, what box did you use for the PMW? I seen the one you posted for the wired remote. When building the box for the PMW,.did you install a fan or does it even get hot enough to need one? If you could post a video on how exactly you made this setup that would be awesome. Thank you for all the video and sharing your knowledge.
@@Aksmaniyak can you make a video on how exactly you make this wired remote or post a step by step blueprint of it with materials etc.? Thanks for everything
My pot switch is slow about coming on sometimes. At the first use of the day, it may take 3 or 4 seconds to come on. Is this a flaw? Or is it normal. The unit seems fine otherwise. 100A, 60A cont., 5000w, with a 60 amp breaker (which I had to replace already).
@@Aksmaniyak I have a 62lbs motor and I don’t know if this controller with Amazon is suitable for me? At 5 speeds, the motor consumes 55Ah Thank you. so I asked you.
I have used the controller with a 55lb trolling motor. 5 speed motors draw more amps than the PWM. I think that PWM will work with your motor and it will draw less than the 55A.
What Amp. PWM do I need for a 55 lb. trolling motor? Thank you Joe B.
Hi Joe, at least a 60A continuous 100A surge.

Thanks again. I used a 22 gauge 8 conductor cable that I bought from Ebay. The remote cable length for this video was 4 feet.

I don't know of a quick connect for the 8 conductor. You could use a quick connect at the battery input and motor output wires at the box.

I have never experienced that issue. The pots have always been almost instantaneous. It sounds like there is a "soft start/brake" lag time.
DIY 12V 100A PWM Trolling Motor Remote Test ? Amazon. com - 60A. Test 100А or 60A?
It is 60A continuous and 100A peak.
