Big Deal Cod

For many years Deal in Kent was known as the mecca of sea angling. This short video shows the size of some of the cod that were caught. This is a historic glimpse into the past never to be seen again!
Dave Chamberlain’s book ‘Deal and Walmer’s Piscatorial Past’ explains the history of the many charter boats that, at one time, were for hire on the local beaches. Along with over 60 photographs, from the late Basil Kidd collection, it illustrates the quality of fish that were caught from the boats and pier in the past. The vast cod shoals that would turn-up every autumn are now a memory. However, they are recorded in this book as part of the history of Deal and Walmer. Available from Ebay at £4.99p.
