  • A 4 x 48 bar Strathspey, danced several times but not completely through by scotbordersdancers.
Ellwyn Glen is near Galashiels, Scottish Borders and has a strong association as a Fairy Glen in Sir Walter Scott's writings and local folklore.

Before becoming a bagpiper, I was a highland dancer and attended Scottish Country dancing lessons in Philadelphia (which was pretty far from my home). I enjoy dancing, and I enjoy playing for dancers. I was so happy to see this video :-). I hope you post more.

    What are the tunes?
There's also a faster dance, Ellwyn's Fairy Glen, isn't there?
Was this Strathspey devised by Mr Duthie from Gala?

The music can be found on Highlander Music vol 04 played by Ian Holmes and his SCB with Ian Powrie. The tunes are Orange & Blue, The Lad wi" the Plaidie and Cathkin Braes.
Yes, this dance was devised by J Duthie from Galashiels.
In passing, Minicrib January 2025 edition now includes Berwickshire Round Reel, Gus's Reel, King's Knot and Margaret Allen of Cumbrae
