I basically felt the same after coming back from the Isha Yoga Centre! I remember just wanting some home comforts, but apart from that, when i got back, i was really shocked at how little attention everybody really gave to each other. Even, so called, loved ones! I was just so heartbroken that people seemed to be a walking violence.

Gurdjieff's intention wasn't to ruin people's wills but to energize them to find their true will, to not identify with their personas but to seek for their essence. The presentation in this video is quite simplistic yet I can detect Sadhguru's admiration although not so obvious. Gurdjieff's legacy is becoming relevant again since many people awaken to the fact that they have to transcend external appearances and occurrences and to connect with something much more powerful within themselves. Gurdjieff was a truly intelligent person and knower of deep things, something not stressed here but I think anyone meant to find the Fourth Way will find it anyways, with critical filter but also some kind of excitement.

I read Gurdjief when I was a young adult, a book left behind by a famous English actor. Started as fascination, and then curiosity, and I got hooked up. Never read any other of his books but he left genuinely a deep impression in me , of how a person who is unattached to material life sees the world around him. Like a pole vaulter, you have to let go the knowledge you hold on to, and then only you go higher see the other side. Amazing Sadhguru speak about him. Great.
Gurdjieff’s legacy is 3 extraordinary books and dozens of sacred dances as well as a repertoire od hauntingly beautiful sacred music compsed with de Hartmann. Seems a shame to dwell on sensationalized bits and pieces of his reputation whilst ignoring his vast contribution to sacred music, dance, and lierature.

This is true. I believe this is what Sadhguru meant in the sense that their lower and base level of will was destroyed, to open up the higher divine will.
I've been thinking about this for weeks now. I've read up on Gurdjieff for over five years now. I think, i might know why he acted like this. Gurdjieff said, '''Fairness?, decency?, how can you expect fairness or decency on a planet full of sleeping people?''. Maybe he acted in this way to make people, or at least to see their mechanical reactions, to see who would be decent, and not decent?, maybe a way to learn about people and dissect.
Yeah, Gurdjieff was experimenting alcohol on his pupils. To detect their reactions and behaviors. He was doing it with good intentions. Gurdjieff was a cheerful drinker and a smoker...a great chef and host. An amazing and unforgettable human being. He was a Russian Orthodox by upbringing and taught and spread Sufiysm to the West. He was a master traveler and journey man. He deeply changed many peoples lives to the better and gave them higher enlightenment. This Indian Guru is a charlatan and a joke..

I do not think the guru guy is intentionally pointing people in the wrong direction. The deep gnostic knowledge is only held by a very few. That we are consciousness, here to evolve by reflecting inward to self realization. "know thyself". The gnostic principle of self reflection is not taught by the guru. Not the deep gnostic kind. In gurdjieff and ouspenskys books everything is cleary explained...people need to be massively shocked to be awakaned...it can only be done in perfect circumstances...only gurdjieff who was enlightened and awakened could menage those stress situation...he was the greatest mystic of the 20th century.

Ouspensky never travelled with Mr. Gurdjieff to America. And according to Mr. Gurdjieff's teachings normal mechanical slumbering human beings lack three things. Internal unity, will, and the ability to 'do.' So he never took over anyone's will because they had no real will. And the train trip with Ouspensky never took place. Rather, he behaved terribly on an overnight sleeper train from New York City to Chicago that he took with Fritz Peters. Fritz Peters first met Mr. Gurdjieff when he stayed at his institute in Paris as a 12-year-old boy and it is believed Mr. Gurdjieff behaved this way in order to stop Peters from putting him on a pedestal. The real story... 20-YEAR-OLD FRITZ PETERS AND THE MYTHICAL TRAIN RIDE “Mr. Gurdjieff did not manage to complete his urgent farewells until the train was actually moving and I had to push him through the door of the last car with his six or seven pieces of luggage. The conductor or porter told him that smoking was forbidden except in the men's room and he groaned loudly about this hardship, but did consent to put out his cigarette. Our progress - with all the luggage and with Gurdjieff's lamentations about the rude treatment he was receiving-was so noisy that we awakened almost everyone on the train. "When we were finally threatened-in no uncertain terms- by both the conductor and the porter, with expulsion from the train at the next stop, I lost my temper completely and said that I would be glad to get off the train in order to get away from him. At this, he looked at me in wide-eyed innocence and wanted to know if I was angry with him- and, if so, why. I said that I was furious and that he was making a spectacle of both of us, so he put his food and drink away sadly and then, lighting another cigarette, said that he had never imagined that I, his only friend, would talk to him in this way, and quite literally, desert him. This attitude only increased my anger and I said that once we arrived in Chicago I hoped never to see him again. He then went to bed in his lower berth, still very sorrowful and still muttering about my unkindness and lack of loyalty, and I climbed into the upper berth hoping for some much-needed sleep. After about five minutes, punctuated by moans and groans from Gurdjieff as he tossed and turned in the lower berth, and by renewed hissing and cursing from the other passengers, he began to talk in a loud voice, complaining that he needed a drink of water, had to have a cigarette, and so forth. There were more threats from the porter and finally, at about four a.m., he settled down and did go to sleep. "We were the last passengers to awaken the next morning and while he dressed and made several trips to the men's room in whatever state of undress he happened to be at the moment, we were stared at by a car full of hostile travelling companions who had, of course, identified us as the troublemakers of the night before. After about one hour, I managed to get him to the dining car, hoping for a peaceful breakfast, but once again my hopes were dashed. There was nothing on the menu that he could eat, and we had long, irritating conversations with the waiter and the head steward about the possibility of procuring yoghurt and similar-at that time-exotic foods, accompanied by vivid descriptions of his particular digestive process and its highly specialized needs. After several long discussions, he suddenly gave in and ate, without any visible discomfort but with a great many complaints, a large American breakfast. "As the train did not arrive in Chicago until late that afternoon, I was not looking forward to spending the day in the Pullman car, but once again I hoped for the best. My fears, however, were well-grounded. I have never, in my life, spent such a day with anyone. Although I was already furious and outraged, the sight of the fawning disciples made me even more angry. They had prepared, with obvious effort, a "Gurdjiefftype" dinner and they did everything they could think to please him. To my further disgust, he began to praise each one of them individually, telling them what a ghastly trip he had had on the train, how horribly I had treated him, and how different it would have been had only some of them- loyal, devoted, respectful followers-been along to take care of him properly and with the respect that was due to him. I was then promptly assailed by the more ardent members of the group, and attacked for treating their leader with such disrespect, and so on. "After about an hour of this, I reached some sort of breaking-point, and told him and the group I was leaving. Gurdjieff looked at me in amazement and said that he would not be able to stay in Chicago, all alone in such a large apartment, unless I was there with him; that I could not leave him alone under any circumstances. To the horror of the group, I told him that since he was now safely surrounded by a large bunch of the faithful, he could very safely dispense with my services and that I was sure he would find them able and willing to perform any of the services he might require. In the course of this outburst I described some of their possible services in a few of the well chosen four-letter words that he and I had worked over in New York-and the group members regarded me with disgust as well as with increased horror. But didn't Fritz visit G after WWII in Paris seeking G to perform a ritual to revive Fritz life force energy, that was depleted due to deprivations during the War. And after some private preparations G re entered the room and zapped Fritz w a bluepurple light that came from his abdominal Hara centre. Fritz was totally reinvigorated as a result as was G as he had peeled away stale energies from himself doing the ritual. Now if Sadhguru could demo that process it would be helpful. LOL. ✨

Our lineage comes through Walker. We study many systems besides his as well; Kriya Yoga through Yogananda, Hermeticism, Alchemy, Golden Dawn through Regardi, Tarot through B.O.T.A., New Thought, and more.
Gurdjieff legacy is sometimes mixup even by a SadhGuru of today. Gurdjieff did not wish to be called Saint or even Guru, just a Dance Master. And its true that many people sounds like to know Gurdjieff but they use Gurdjieff image to their own desires. For me Gurdjieff is an horizont of self (inner) transformation, his work is not aimed to destroy people's Will. The Will is the Master for developing selfconsciouness, inner Master, I mean conscious Will.
There is a documentary film called Gurdjieff in Armenia which shows the man and his teaching. Sadhguru is certainly a sad person, but he is good for telling stories to children in a nursery or while seated in a pub.

Truth of life.. Sadhguru explained it very clearly. I chose to work hard and be aware. I asked questions and waited for answers to appear. End result is clarity, wisdom for a peaceful life.
The executive head of the WHO, Klaus Schwab, could be a good candidate for Sadhguru's meditation programs. Perhaps Schwab would have a transformation of the heart and revise "The Great Reset." From reading it, apparently there is no love in this plan.

Gurdjieff didn't destroy anyone's wills. Did not act like a drunkard. So this guy is yet another who barely understands Gurdjieff. He taught people how to have conscious will.
Has anyone noticed? The similarities in facial features of Sadhguru and George Gurdjieff are striking. Perhaps its that look of enlightenment, those calm distant serene eyes. And that similar moustache does go nicely too. But you can tell, these are enlightened souls.

Three books to outweigh this doc: John Shirleys Biographie, Meetings with remarkable men by himself and PD Ouspenskis very important book in the search of the miraculous.

Another intelligent opinion on Gurdjieff, "His drinking habits might explain reason of his death (liver cancer), which makes me wonder how someone evolved beyond mechanical living can't overcome drinking and smoking habits? So far, by researching his legacy, according his classification I would put Gurdjieff in man 4. category nothing higher than that. He traveled a lot, collected and repackaged some old knowledge he found, but not practiced himself. Also, do you know anyone who become man 5,6 or 7 by applying this knowledge? It is not documented that described event ever happened. What is certain is that Ouspensky had neither traveled to America with Gurdjieff, nor had been put in presented situation. Reasons why he left Gurdjieff in 1920 is described in his book "In search of miraculous".

I am amazed how Anirvanji advised Lizelle Reymond in 1950s when his Ashram/Haimavati at Almoda was going to be dissolved to return back to Europe and follow Gurdief . A group of devotees/followers of Shrimat Anirvan from Switzerland Europe came to Goutam Dharmapal at Fern Road Kolkata and gifted him a thick book of Gurdief . Gurdief is known to be died out of a road accident .
Well he should have just said “IN HiS OPINION” Gurdjieff was as he’s described. Coz It’s a different path for every individual. Gurdjieff was the right teacher for a lot of people because we’re all different students. I only understand my master not Gurdjieff, not Sadhguru, not Mooji and it doesn’t mean they’re wrong. You are right. However as fourth way clearly classify human from Man1 to Man7 and and demonstrate that your dominant centre usually takes you to best available system or philosophy and hence to philosopher. However in the end nothing matters. Neither system nor guide. Rodney Collins has beautifully described that in Theory of celestial influences, as how PD comes to this realization and prophced to drop the system and start over.

I've been thinking about this for weeks now. I've read up on Gurdjieff for over five years now. I think, i might know why he acted like this. Gurdjieff said, '''Fairness?, decency?, how can you expect fairness or decency on a planet full of sleeping people?''. Maybe he acted in this way to make people, or at least to see their mechanical reactions, to see who would be decent, and not decent?, maybe a way to learn about people and dissect.
Yeah, Gurdjieff was experimenting alcohol on his pupils. To detect their reactions and behaviors. He was doing it with good intentions. Gurdjieff was a cheerful drinker and a smoker...a great chef and host. An amazing and unforgettable human being. He was a Russian Orthodox by upbringing and taught and spread Sufiysm to the West. He was a master traveler and journey man. He deeply changed many peoples lives to the better and gave them higher enlightenment. This Indian Guru is a charlatan and a joke..

I do not think the guru guy is intentionally pointing people in the wrong direction. The deep gnostic knowledge is only held by a very few. That we are consciousness, here to evolve by reflecting inward to self realization. "know thyself". The gnostic principle of self reflection is not taught by the guru. Not the deep gnostic kind. From my point of view. He is nice enough though, and has a very soothing voice.

So much to learn from Gurdjieff teachings, a master of wisdom that have an immense influence over our life, even after so many years of his existence.
In gurdjieff and ouspenskys books everything is cleary explained...people need to be massively shocked to be awakaned...it can only be done in perfect circumstances...only gurdjieff who was enlightened and awakened could menage those stress situation...he was the greatest mystic of the 20th century.

Ouspensky never travelled with Mr. Gurdjieff to America.
And according to Mr. Gurdjieff's teachings normal mechanical slumbering human beings lack three things. Internal unity, will, and the ability to 'do.' So he never took over anyone's will because they had no real will.
And the train trip with Ouspensky never took place. Rather, he behaved terribly on an overnight sleeper train from New York City to Chicago that he took with Fritz Peters. Fritz Peters first met Mr. Gurdjieff when he stayed at his institute in Paris as a 12-year-old boy and it is believed Mr. Gurdjieff behaved this way in order to stop Peters from putting him on a pedestal.
The real story...
20-YEAR-OLD FRITZ PETERS AND THE MYTHICAL TRAIN RIDE
“Mr. Gurdjieff did not manage to complete his urgent farewells until the train was actually moving and I had to push him through the door of the last car with his six or seven pieces of luggage. As soon as he was in the moving train, he began to complain in a loud voice about having been interrupted and demanded that a bed be prepared for him immediately. The conductor, with my help, explained to him that our berths were thirteen cars ahead and that we would have to walk to them -very quietly, as most of the other passengers had boarded the train early and were already asleep-through the entire train. Gurdjieff looked appalled, sat down on one of his suitcases, and lighted a cigarette. The conductor or porter told him that smoking was forbidden except in the men's room and he groaned loudly about this hardship, but did consent to put out his cigarette.
"It must have taken us-Gurdjieff, conductor, porter, and me-at least forty-five minutes to get to our assigned berths. Our progress - with all the luggage and with Gurdjieff's lamentations about the rude treatment he was receiving-was so noisy that we awakened almost everyone on the train. In every car, heads would appear through the curtains to hiss at us and curse us. I was furious with him, as well as exhausted, and greatly relieved when we found our berths. Then, to my horror, he decided that he had to eat, drink, and smoke, and began unpacking his bags in search of food and liquor. I was finally able to force him into the men's room. Once in there he settled down to eat and drink and to discourse in loud tones about the terrible service on American trains and the fact that he-a very important man-was being treated in this shoddy fashion.
"When we were finally threatened-in no uncertain terms- by both the conductor and the porter, with expulsion from the train at the next stop, I lost my temper completely and said that I would be glad to get off the train in order to get away from him. At this, he looked at me in wide-eyed innocence and wanted to know if I was angry with him- and, if so, why. I said that I was furious and that he was making a spectacle of both of us, so he put his food and drink away sadly and then, lighting another cigarette, said that he had never imagined that I, his only friend, would talk to him in this way, and quite literally, desert him. This attitude only increased my anger and I said that once we arrived in Chicago I hoped never to see him again. He then went to bed in his lower berth, still very sorrowful and still muttering about my unkindness and lack of loyalty, and I climbed into the upper berth hoping for some much-needed sleep. After about five minutes, punctuated by moans and groans from Gurdjieff as he tossed and turned in the lower berth, and by renewed hissing and cursing from the other passengers, he began to talk in a loud voice, complaining that he needed a drink of water, had to have a cigarette, and so forth. There were more threats from the porter and finally, at about four a.m., he settled down and did go to sleep.
"We were the last passengers to awaken the next morning and while he dressed and made several trips to the men's room in whatever state of undress he happened to be at the moment, we were stared at by a car full of hostile travelling companions who had, of course, identified us as the troublemakers of the night before. After about one hour, I managed to get him to the dining car, hoping for a peaceful breakfast, but once again my hopes were dashed. There was nothing on the menu that he could eat, and we had long, irritating conversations with the waiter and the head steward about the possibility of procuring yoghurt and similar-at that time-exotic foods, accompanied by vivid descriptions of his particular digestive process and its highly specialized needs. After several long discussions, he suddenly gave in and ate, without any visible discomfort but with a great many complaints, a large American breakfast.
"As the train did not arrive in Chicago until late that afternoon, I was not looking forward to spending the day in the Pullman car, but once again I hoped for the best. My fears, however, were well-grounded. I have never, in my life, spent such a day with anyone. He smoked incessantly, in spite of complaints from the passengers and threats from the porter; drank heavily, and produced, at intervals when we seemed momentarily threatened with peace, all kinds of foods, mostly different varieties of strong-smelling cheeses. Although he apologized profusely every time the other passengers complained about his behaviour, he also constantly found new ways to annoy, irritate and offend them- not to mention me.
"When we did actually arrive in Chicago it seemed to me nothing less than a miracle. Whatever my opinion of the "Chicago group", when I saw a large number of them on the platform waiting to greet him, I was delighted. I helped him off the train with all his luggage and told him that I was leaving then and there and that he need not expect to see me again. When he heard this, he raised such an outcry on the platform that, for the sake of peace, I consented to go with him and the group members to the apartment they had rented for him. Although I was already furious and outraged, the sight of the fawning disciples made me even more angry. They had prepared, with obvious effort, a "Gurdjiefftype" dinner and they did everything they could think to please him. To my further disgust, he began to praise each one of them individually, telling them what a ghastly trip he had had on the train, how horribly I had treated him, and how different it would have been had only some of them- loyal, devoted, respectful followers-been along to take care of him properly and with the respect that was due to him. I was then promptly assailed by the more ardent members of the group, and attacked for treating their leader with such disrespect, and so on.
"After about an hour of this, I reached some sort of breaking-point, and told him and the group I was leaving. Gurdjieff looked at me in amazement and said that he would not be able to stay in Chicago, all alone in such a large apartment, unless I was there with him; that I could not leave him alone under any circumstances. To the horror of the group, I told him that since he was now safely surrounded by a large bunch of the faithful, he could very safely dispense with my services and that I was sure he would find them able and willing to perform any of the services he might require. In the course of this outburst I described some of their possible services in a few of the well chosen four-letter words that he and I had worked over in New York-and the group members regarded me with disgust as well as with increased horror.

But didn't Fritz visit G after WWII in Paris seeking G to perform a ritual to revive Fritz life force energy, that was depleted due to deprivations during the War.
And after some private preparations G re entered the room and zapped Fritz w a bluepurple light that came from his abdominal Hara centre.
Fritz was totally reinvigorated as a result as was G as he had peeled away stale energies from himself doing the ritual.
Now if Sadhguru could demo that process it would be helpful. LOL. ✨

In today's chaos, conditions are perfect and fourth way is best way forward. However one must try three traditional ways and must disappoint in them in order to commence in fourth way.
Gurdjieff proposed a fourth way so that the ordinary householder could develop themselves without the renunciation of worldly things demanded of the traditional three ways, those of fakir, monk and yogi.
The situation in the train happened to Margaret's Anderson adopted son Fritz Peters. It's described in chapter 5 of "Gurdjieff Remembered" by Fritz Peters.
Please understand this was the kind of his works and gurdieff did very well in the field of awakening .he used to do many techniques for awakenings .
self remembering was his most valuable teaching with regards to 'awakening' (in my opinion)

When you are born your brainwaves flow in a bottom up direction, through language you are taught to flow in a top down direction
The shock is creating a reversal back to bottom up direction of flow
And having the being able to notice it and then maintain it for the rest of your life
The work flows both ways to achieve this return to natural state and then to maintain it
The machine is always copying other machines (without our comprehending this)
You see top down is the delusion/dream state
Its a spectrum of outcome, if its still its light not a spectrum,
So it has two directions of flow, one getting faster., more frequently
The other is slower and less frequent
I'm pretty sure you know the world you exist in is constantly getting faster,
operating at a ever increasing higher pitch
The top down process is the "I" the individual experience
Bottom up is "WE" the lack of "I"
So the last part is to accept that the "I" is only temporary and not eternal and therefore does not exist
Individuality is the delusion
There is no separation, there is no "I"

Our lineage comes through Walker. We study many systems besides his as well; Kriya Yoga through Yogananda, Hermeticism, Alchemy, Golden Dawn through Regardi, Tarot through B.O.T.A., New Thought, and more.
Gurdjieff legacy is sometimes mixup even by a SadhGuru of today. Gurdjieff did not wish to be called Saint or even Guru, just a Dance Master. And its true that many people sounds like to know Gurdjieff but they use Gurdjieff image to their own desires. For me Gurdjieff is an horizont of self (inner) transformation, his work is not aimed to destroy people's Will. The Will is the Master for developing selfconsciouness, inner Master, I mean conscious Will.

There is a documentary film called Gurdjieff in Armenia which shows the man and his teaching. Sadhguru is certainly a sad person, but he is good for telling stories to children in a nursery or while seated in a pub.

Truth of life.. Sadhguru explained it very clearly. I chose to work hard and be aware. I asked questions and waited for answers to appear. End result is clarity, wisdom for a peaceful life.

Gurdjieff didn't destroy anyone's wills. Did not act like a drunkard. So this guy is yet another who barely understands Gurdjieff. He taught people how to have conscious will.
Has anyone noticed? The similarities in facial features of Sadhguru and George Gurdjieff are striking. Perhaps its that look of enlightenment, those calm distant serene eyes. And that similar moustache does go nicely too. But you can tell, these are enlightened souls.

"His drinking habits might explain reason of his death (liver cancer), which makes me wonder how someone evolved beyond mechanical living can't overcome drinking and smoking habits? So far, by researching his legacy, according his classification I would put Gurdjieff in man 4. category nothing higher than that. He traveled a lot, collected and repackaged some old knowledge he found, but not practiced himself.

It is not documented that described event ever happened. What is certain is that Ouspensky had neither traveled to America with Gurdjieff, nor had been put in presented situation. Reasons why he left Gurdjieff in 1920 is described in his book "In search of miraculous".

Well he should have just said “IN HiS OPINION” Gurdjieff was as he’s described. Coz It’s a different path for every individual. Gurdjieff was the right teacher for a lot of people because we’re all different students. I only understand my master not Gurdjieff, not Sadhguru, not Mooji and it doesn’t mean they’re wrong. It just simply means I can only connect with a certain teacher, I’m only able to grow with that teacher. That’s all 🙏🏻

However as fourth way clearly classify human from Man1 to Man7 and and demonstrate that your dominant centre usually takes you to best available system or philosophy and hence to philosopher. However in the end nothing matters. Neither system nor guide. Rodney Collins has beautifully described that in Theory of celestial influences, as how PD comes to this realization and prophced to drop the system and start over.
