Yeah. As a Warriors fan I don't see why the spurs would do this trade unless they can't find other suitors. Seems pretty lopsided for such a strong starter in Poeltl.

    • @cantfailent
      @cantfailent ปีที่แล้ว

The spurs should do a trade like this because they want that 7 foot kid in the draft. Having Wiseman instead of Poeltl at center would almost guarantee them the first pick. Besides they're going nowhere with Poeltl right now and he's really good. If Wiseman pans out they have a new twin towers. The Warriors need to move off Wiseman now. They can't wait for him to get it. It looks like it will be at least 2 or 3 years before he does and that's normal for big men. The Warriors didn't think that pick through very well. The Dubs should've drafted LaMelo and traded for or signed a young, experienced big man in free agency. They also should've drafted Franz at 7 instead of Kuminga and Koloko in the 2nd round. Arrogance and not basketball savvy is starting to show in the Warriors organization. Anyway, if the Warriors get their heads out of their collective asses, this could be a win, win for both teams. Poeltl, McDermott, 2 or 1 first rounders for Wiseman and Divincenzo. Warriors dominant now and possibly later and the Spurs rise again within the next 2 seasons. Win, Win!

To people thinking its low value - just remember Bagley was also a 2nd overall pick. And Okafor was 3rd. Those guys got traded literally for peanuts (no offense to DiVincenzo and Trevor Booker) in their rookie scale contracts after being disappointing. Wiseman is only on rookie scale for one more year after this, already had a season lost to injury and frankly simply has only looked good in moments. And his value still can surely get lower if he keeps playing like this. And Casey is straight on the money here - what happens after next year in his RFA? What if some team with cap space max or close to max Wiseman, even gives him 20 mil per year? Dubs can't really spend much on him as is. And losing your 2nd overall pick for literally nothing would sting.

If, for example, they drafted Franz Wagner (evaluated to be primarily a defense guy at the time of the draft and has shown to have advanced well as a scorer/playmaker with size) instead of Kuminga (someone who I think has more raw potential/higher ceiling), they'd be in better shape. It's not the age but more about the rawness of Wiseman and Kuminga.
I can't blame them for the Wiseman pick. His potential is a bit much to pass up on. Even if someone like Okongwu would play better in the same role today, that's a tough decision to make. Maybe if you were concerned enough about Wiseman's lack of post-HS play/tape and didn't want to add Lamelo Ball to an already crowded (when healthy) backcourt, maybe you could've opted to trade down. But if you were picking at #2, you are probably picking Ball or Wiseman.

If you think about it, Wiseman spent most of his 'downtime' honing his personal basketball skills. Haven't ran that much plays with GSW since he was injured and certainly going to the GLeague running a different playbook doesn't help practice the rotations. Give him some time to get used to it and understand Curry's needs. Overreacting on Wiseman, Klay, Draymond, Poole and whoever else isn't going to help GSW get better.

When Steph is still this godly in his powers you have to do everything you can to build the best team around him you can. For me that has never meant a flashy trade for a big name, it's about complimentary pieces.
The bench sucks but the Starters haven't covered themselves in glory. No one on the team has really been defending well consistently. Plenty of lazy close outs all over the place and it's often a layup line for the other team to the rim which explains all the undisciplined fouling they have been doing.

I agree with your assessment as to how bad the bench is playing. There could be a different solution rather than trading away players who could be great later on. I mean why absorb their worst years only to hand them to another team to reap their best years? So here is the solution. The Dubs have a "Death lineup" that could produce insurmountable leads. It features Poole and Curry on the court at the same time, along with Klay and Wiggins. Those guys laid 70 points on the Nuggets in 19 minutes in a playoff game, and ran away from Boston in game six. IOW, the lineup was tested against playoff teams including the best defense in the league.
So they run up the score with really big margins dispiriting the opposition and tiring them out, too. The opposition is too tired to catch up when the second team is playing and their fatgue allows the second team to score enough points to hang on. Meanwhile the second team gets more and more experience.

I like the video, but what I don't understand in the video is the picks in the mock trade. It should be the Warriors who send the picks and not the Spurs, because Jakob Poetl has the higher trade value than Wiseman. If the Warriors send the two picks in that trade, then it's a great deal for both teams.

  • @marco477utep

Thats a no for the Spurs. Poeltl is one of the best defensive and pick and roll bigs in the league. Having Green and Poeltl would be crazy defense. Maybe Wiseman for only Poeltl but keep in mind the Warriors need Poeltl more than the Spurs need Wiseman.

James Wiseman plus a first for Myles Turner. Poetl sounds great too. Wiseman (and Wanamaker and Kelly Oubre Jr.) was the reason the Warriors didn't make the playoffs a couple season's back. Unfortunately the owner loves this Wiseman kid... Kuminga often plays just as clueless at times.

Big Men always take a few years to get into a groove in the league. Wiseman since High School, played less than 5 games of College Basketball, got injured his rookie season, missed his entire second season, and is NOW getting play time in a rotation on a consistent basis. Wiseman hasn't played competitive basketball consistently since High School. So him coming along slow was essentially expected.
Who the Warriors expect more from right now, is Poole.

Or rebuild... Green Wiseman for Vucevic Williams Terry! Clear the air and keep growing in the right direction. Vucevic takes the point role from Draymond. Williams has a great defensive potential. Terry is in the mold of Iggy and the perfect building block. Forward minutes are up for grabs between JG Williams Kuminga PBJ.
    Vucevic Looney PBJ
    JG Williams Kuminga
    Wiggins Terry Lamb

Wiseman seems to play well in an unstructured environment where he can run the floor and be the focal point on offense. The Ws system makes him only one of many options and that makes his motor fail.

I hadn't thought of that trade (don't often see the Spurs anymore). I like it. People in the Bay are DEFINITELY starting to stress given the just wen 0 for the road. The priority here is to win more chips while Steph is still on top of his game. If that means the Warriors move on from Moody, Kuminga and/or Wiseman, so be it. I agree with keeping Draymond at this point, but he's gone after the season. Losing Payton was, by far, the Warriors' biggest offseason loss.

As a hardcore Warriors fan, I'm totally fine with and open to the Warriors moving off of Wiseman and Kuminga. Wiseman for Jakob Poetl sounds fine to me. Wiseman is clearly going to be a multi-year project that might not even work, and they don't have that time to waste. Kuminga for Eric Pascal sounds great to me. Some of ya'll might think I'm insane for that Kuminga for Pascal trade, but hear me out. Pascal has been in the system before, so he knows it. He's super athletic, can jump super high, can rebound, can dunk, plays better defense than Kuminga, can shoot the three better and has a good mid range jumper and can shoot free throws, and most importantly, his basketball IQ and experience level is BY FAR superior to Kumingas. Jordan Poole and Moses Moody are young enough, they don't need such an overload of youth.
