I think what makes the issues stand out in 2019 is that, when you have Last of Us and Uncharted 4 we have now seen what refined 3rd person adventure looks like.
I totally agree. Naughty Dog is the top dog beast of the upper echelon of game development. They’ve reinvented, redefined, and raised the bar for 3rd person action adventure games ever since 2007. However, I’m hoping that Respawn’s next outing under the Star Wars license can be their *“Uncharted 2: Among Thieves”* so to speak.

I think I had a similar issue on the slide that barret was referring to. When just pressing jump once, Cal double flips and gets dropped into the abyss. But when I equipped my saber during the slide he actually made a huge leap across the same gap.
The things he thinks are bad, the dark souls stuff, like running back to your corpse, are not negatives. Those are DESIGN choices. Greg, that feeling of your heart racing when you beat something IS the feeling that people get when they play souls! YOU NEED TO TRY SOULS!!!
I tried Grandmaster for awhile even got through the opening fight with the Second Sister, but I saw that there are no trophies tied to difficulty levels so I figured I’d lower it and get used to it on Jedi Master; the 3 stats for that difficulty are actually the same, balanced as all things should be.
Funny to see them amazed by the feeling of "Rewarded and accomplished"after defeated a hard boss fight by blocking, evading and having a challenge in general. You guys should play From Software games, where all this is coming from to Fallen Order. They are not difficult games, you just need to concentrate.
I think something simple like patching in fast travel between meditation points would really help. There are times were you can screw yourself into 10 to 15 minutes of backtracking because you went down a slide accidentally. I get what they were going for, but if you are in the post-game, I don't see what it hurts to make the collectible clean up a bit simpler.
Im loving The Star Wars fallen Order so much. I am in no rush to finish it and in over 25 hours and exploring for collectibles, its so much fun! Cant wait to see how it ends
I think by far the most jarring part of the game is how slow the blaster bolts go. I'm playing on Jedi Master and I feel like they crawl and look silly moving slowly across the screen. That being said....still having a ton of fun
I played through to 94% completion without ever getting soft locked, and definitely never felt like the game needed better sign-posting. Lucky me I guess?
On base ps4 I've had frame rate issue / a random glitch where you fall through a little hole on the first planet next to the ship. Then when you die enemies animation dont load straight away but still move about and textures sometimes dont catch up to you in the world. Other than that I really enjoy this game and it's what we have all wanted 👍
The game needs a compass on the top of the screen more than a fast travel. I think the arkham games did this where once you place a waypoint, the compass would point you to the door of the room and guide you towards your waypoint. This would solve the confusing map.
Its weird hearing complaints about "slide doesnt work well" or "never know how the ropes work". Never had those issues and makes me wonder if it's on them.
I just beat this, would oh so love the spoiler cast on this, i know it's been some time now but it would be a great January video to finish off the big star wars rush. Great review though!
I'm playing on PC and a lot of the problems you mention are not present. Loading times are extremely quick for me, for example. Didn't notice any bugs either so far.
Between Disney+ (The Mandalorian), Star Wars In Review, and early talk of Jedi Fallen Order, I preordered it purely out of hype, and I barely know anything about it, but I’m excited.
Hopefully, EA/Respaawn responds with a day 1 patch with some of these issues. Aside from that, sounds like a great time that I can't wait to get home to! The traversal issues reminds me of Uncharted 2's traversal issues of the controller and Nathan Drake not being in unison from time to time haha.
I’ve been playing for about 2 hours total (1 yesterday, and 1 as I am writing this now) and I was happy to hear the good reviews this is getting. And 2 hours in, my excitement is no longer here because I absolutely hate the combat in this game. Exploration is amazing, The story so far is there. Likeable characters. It’s very Uncharted, Mass Effect, Zelda-ish. But once I did the opening train level leading into the first official planet, I noticed that even on the opening train level (which should be equivalent to the tutorial level) at how bad I was at the combat. Then leading to the first planet, found a secret boss and for about 45 minutes, playing in Jedi Knight - the second difficulty - I could NOT kill this boss. At times at the start of the fight, he would hit me 2-3 times and I’m dead, then have to wait about 25-35 seconds to load back in. It finally came to my realization that this combat system is very similar to Dark Souls. Another game I do not like at all due to the difficulty and combat. And when you die, all XP upto that point is lost and only way to get it back is to kill the thing that killed you last. And when you’re blocking, you can fight or use the Force abilities when holding block. This is a huge letdown for me, especially since I had to lower the difficulty to Story mode and now enemies are practically no challenge at all. So there’s no happy medium for me in terms of combat. Like I said, a huge letdown for me and now I’m not even sure I want to finish the game now because if I hate the fighting system in a fighting game, why am I playing it? Please don’t take my opinions on the game to be a negative for YOU or deter you from buying it - this is simply my opinion and my feelings on the Game. Everything else about it to me is solid... except the combat. And Debra Wilson’s eyes.... God, they’re so HUGE.
*UPDATE* - Now that I’ve had more time to play it, I have gotten better at the combat due to practicing and dying MANY times. Though I am still NOT a fan of the combat system, I’ve learned how to deal with it and I’ve moved back to Jedi Knight difficulty. But the combat is very much like Dark Souls. Movement is like Uncharted. Exploration is similar to Zelda, Mass Effect & Uncharted, and story is very much a Star Wars Story. All good stuff here. I’ve learned when to BLOCK and when to PARRY certain enemies - that was vital for me, as I’m sure it is for anyone. But for someone like myself who doesn’t play a lot of fighting games - I have much to learn. God, I hate Purge Troopers - Ugh. But I’m definitely going to finish the game. Again, not a fan of the combat (some may love it, if you’re a fan of games like Dark Souls and God of War) but the game has too many great qualities to not finish. Respawn definitely saved EA with this game. Best Star Wars game I’ve played since KOTOR (Knights of the Old Republic).
Think that just a glitch Tim's talking about with the lift and maybe nothing to do with not having the force powers . Areas you cant explore without force powers either have objects colour coordinated / show up on the map to say you cant progress here.
I feel like the Tim comments regarding getting stuck in exploration paths and having to restart to get out of it. Isn’t a design problem and it’s just an actual bug and you fell through the world or whatever. I explored every room in every path as I played along and I never got stuck in an elevator or in a hallway with no way out. So I think that’s just a bug not poor design of the levels.
The massive toad boss you can parry / parry stun and block . I was determined to murder the thing and did after about 20 minutes but it was really satisfying 🤣👍 plus I got a skill point
I honestly think this is one of the most overrated games this year. If it didn't have Star Wars branding it would have been completely overlooked as just an okay game.
I have one poncho I dont mind but I think they will charge for skins down the line. I dont mind that aslong as they ain't expensive. But I would love running around as like or obi wan or who ever 🤣
There's only three things I want from any future Star Wars games: 1) Someone to combine GTA/RDR with KotOR. Give me RPG elements in a true open world/galaxy experience. 2) Someone to give us a current gen X-Wing or TIE Fighter game, but NOT with the god awful controls of Battlefront 2. 3) Combine the first two ideas with the No Man's Sky/Freelancer ability to fly from planet to planet. Maybe not possible on current generation of consoles. But that is the ideal end goal, IMO. So, give us an open galaxy, with open planets we can explore, that are populated by NPCs that we can freely interact with and give quests/missions, and the ability to loot and level up our character and make them different in each play through. Until this is done, we'll never get a perfect Star Wars game.
So good as a Star Wars game but so many problems. My main annoyances being the slow loading post combat death, crappy sliding and rope swinging AND.... blocking etc is not instant like with many combat games I've played lately so I found it incredibly annoying trying to get used to it's odd ways.
Respawn needs to make a trilogy of these games. One about darth Maul leading his underground syndicate or whatever tf he’s doing between 3 and 4 with Kira, and starring Emilia Clarke so we can get some closure on that story. And then one about Luke after episode 6, voiced by Mark Hamill himself. That way we can FINALLY get a good story and some Jedi action with the man himself, big daddy Skywalker. Disney and Lucasfilm have done Luke dirty, pissed off the fans, disrespected Mark and shot them selves in the foot. I feel a game like this would do Luke justice. And it’s in keeping with the idea of a “Fallen Order” since his order fell too
Doth mine ears deceive me, or do we finally have the first great single player Star Wars game in a decade? Well, even if The Rise of Skywalker isn't all that great (I hope it's good), at least we'll have The Mandalorian and Jedi: Fallen Order to satisfy that itch for great Star Wars!
Nobody mentioned the fact that - I think - Jedi aren't suppose to kill creatures unless they have to. I mean I would assume Jedi are about preserving life not destroying it. But I digress... I agree, they're parts that I find not "Star Warsy" - the whole zombie flying creatures and that green magic - definitely not in my star wars universe, but may be. I don't know. But, playing it again, I love how Cal's Jedi Master (although dead) appears to him giving him a warning. This is consciously placed in the game so we accept this is the way of fallen Jedi so when we see Luke in episode 9, it will feel more a part of Star Wars lore. What do you guys and gals think?
So the best parts of this game are the soundtrack and the cosmetics and most of the story. Meh, I am not a big Star Wars fanatic so this may not be worth it.
The game was okay. I finished it earlier this morning. I played on the hardest difficulty and I think it probably took around 30 hours? I wish there was an in-game clock. I did everything in it (minus scanning every flora and fauna [but did most of that as well]). I say it's okay, but I just mean that I wasn't thoroughly impressed with the game as it doesn't do anything remarkable or new, nor better than the games it draws inspiration from, but I do think it's good and I am very happy it exists because we need Star Wars single player-driven experiences. There were bugs for sure, but it was the loading that made up the hindrances once you die or get transported to a different area on Kashyyyk. The major bugs I ran into that tarnished the experience some was the loading in of areas; I'd run ahead and try to jump on a platform only to fall through the world, so my actions were faster than the game could process. I thought, like Greg, the game started and ended in awesome ways; I really liked the settings especially. This game actually felt kind of short. It took me around 30 hours, as I said, but really if you don't do a lot of the side content (which I honestly feel is a bit filler), it FEELS like a game that can be completed in an afternoon. The best reason for getting collectibles is just that you get XP and upgrades to your 'estus flask', otherwise I didn't find it all that interesting, for the most part. The story to me was pretty generic, with writing that was cliche, but it was well-acted nonetheless. Lastly, as big as the maps were, I was let down that there weren't more maps and more variety. I ended up thinking 'wait, that was all there was?' once I was getting to the end. I am bummed though that the handful of other promising-looking and sounding Star Wars games like 1313 and Visceral's Star Wars games were canceled. Nothing against Respawn of course in saying this, but I feel like this game got out because it was Respawn and EA gave them a pass when I think those other games could have been just as, or even better possibly. On a different topic: I finished Death Stranding just before. I already wrote enough here, but I will say that that game was also alright, but it did stick with me more than this game. I think it'll be more special to those that really get involved in the social aspect, but to me it wasn't a necessary function to get through the game so I didn't make use of it as much as I could have, and (again, playing on the hardest difficulty, which probably doesn't matter outside of combat) the traversal wasn't that difficult, just slow at times. It was repetitive, and there was only one portion (the parental love of a child) that I really liked when it came to the story, but the game is beautiful and sounds great. I don't plan on doing it soon, but I can see it as a game that I go back to just to be in that world. Not lugging anything around worrying about falling or item degradation, just soaking in its atmosphere. Also, I really liked the ending of it. I mainlined the game, only doing one standard mission, I felt they were unnecessary to get the experience I wanted out of the game, and yet it still took me 51 hours to complete. It's weird to me because I didn't die much or fall much, as well as beelining it to the destinations, but I've heard people finish it in half that time which seems unrealistic. Now I'm onto The Surge 2, and then have to finish Borderlands 3 and I think I'm done with the games I've wanted to play this year.
One the my fav games from the previous gen. Exploration was maybe a little complicated at times, especially backtracking for collectables. Respawn were right to restrain themselves with this one, had they tried to go open-world/ go TOO ambitious this could have been a major flop. I cant wait to see what they do with the sequel now that they have a really solid foundation to build on
Andy's off the mark with Battlefront 2. None of the campaign maps (or even most of the planets) are playable in multi-player. They did build a single player campaign from the ground up, it just wasn't any good.
Andy’s issue with AI not being aggressive and not feeling a new to parry was obviously lowering the difficulty. The different between Jedi Master and normal are very noticeable. The game even shows you that it changes the enemies aggression and parry windows. Him saying he played a small portion at the higher difficulty and then lowering it for the rest makes that pretty evident. At higher difficulty you can not run through this just hack and slashing.
the problem wasn't their aggressiveness, the problem was buggy AI. Throughout the game their were moments where a one or two bad guys would stand 4 feet in front of me and not do anything for an extended period of time.
I had to come back and leave another comment after playing the game over the weekend! I totally get that frustration with battle and not wanting to drop the difficulty! I keep telling myself during the respawn, 'use the force,' 'be patient,' 'don't forget to attack!' 🤣 Just an amazing game!
Played this from the second it came out all the way to 4.30pm when i completed the story. Been going around collecting all the chests and secrets and started a new game to actually take my time with and im still loving it. Really hope they decide to add a newgame plus. Hopefully the make a second game
I would like to know why everybody is looking past all the glitches and frame drops, but when ME: Andromeda came out, everybody was in a uproar about it. mass effect was awesome and i didn't have any glitches, like i do in this game. the in game cut scenes have soo much pop in textures and characters. I love respawn, but they should of taken a couple more months and polished this game.

I love Tim's hat...
Man, can Fran finish his point Tim and Andy?? 🤣🤷🏽♂️
Kinda Funny at 12am?! Fuck yeah, keep killing it guys.
The game needs a compass on the top of the screen more than a fast travel. I think the arkham games did this where once you place a waypoint, the compass would point you to the door of the room and guide you towards your waypoint. This would solve the confusing map.
love this group for the games cast! Great episode, very entertaining
Its weird hearing complaints about "slide doesnt work well" or "never know how the ropes work". Never had those issues and makes me wonder if it's on them.
I just beat the game & didn't have any problems. I always felt in control sliding & grabbing the ropes was easy, especially one you get force pull.
I could also have been rough before a patch? Not sure.
Tim every game can’t be God of War that’s what makes God of War is so special
The limited outfit customization seems like something that wouldve been MTX downloads before respawn announced no MTX for this game.
I just beat this, would oh so love the spoiler cast on this, i know it's been some time now but it would be a great January video to finish off the big star wars rush. Great review though!
Tim's hair tho😂😭
I'm playing on PC and a lot of the problems you mention are not present. Loading times are extremely quick for me, for example. Didn't notice any bugs either so far.
That is the interesting thing about the difficulty settings in the game. The higher you get the enemies hit harder but are also more aggressive
Is it just me Jedi Knight is pretty hard and story mode is way to easy I want the inbetween let me move them sliders
So if I wanna use my force powers I should go back and play control?
Death stranding is my GOTY. I think I'm going to like Jedi Fallen Order but I absolutely love DS possibly my most favorite game of all time.
Greg is the first to "I dont mean to cut you off" while cuttiing somebody off and he texts when other people is talking I strongly dislike him
Think that just a glitch Tim's talking about with the lift and maybe nothing to do with not having the force powers . Areas you cant explore without force powers either have objects colour coordinated / show up on the map to say you cant progress here.
Another odd thing is how the graphical quality varies. It can go from PS2 looking to PS4 looking in some points.
Spiderman was totally a basic Spiderman story. Not one single thing was a surprise except for the secret ending thing leading into 2
What's up with Tim hair cut again lol. Is he trying really hard not to look like Greg?
The massive toad boss you can parry / parry stun and block . I was determined to murder the thing and did after about 20 minutes but it was really satisfying 🤣👍 plus I got a skill point
Idk if you guys realize how much you all say "doyouknowwhatimean?" Love it
Better do a Death Stranding spoilercast first or in conjunction.
I'm from Brazil. The game will just be playable at 03 AM. I'm Dying for waiting, here!!!!!
I honestly think this is one of the most overrated games this year. If it didn't have Star Wars branding it would have been completely overlooked as just an okay game.
Camera seems out of focus, especially for fran and andy.
I have one poncho I dont mind but I think they will charge for skins down the line. I dont mind that aslong as they ain't expensive. But I would love running around as like or obi wan or who ever 🤣
There's only three things I want from any future Star Wars games:
1) Someone to combine GTA/RDR with KotOR.
When did Andrea transform into Andy??? Is it a mistake or put up on purpose??
Nick played this game.
That’s enough of an endorsement for me that it’s a good game.
And it’s in keeping with the idea of a “Fallen Order” since his order fell too
POPO: What u doin there 3PO?...
3PO: I was hiding from PANDO....
I would love to hear a convo with the Narrative Director of this game like you guys did with God of War. I have so many questions.
If this is Respawn's first shot at this kind of game I can't wait to see what they do next time. Surprise of the year for me.
It REALLY doesn't need to tell you enemies have respawned every time. Tell me once, I get the concept. I've had to read that screen 150 times now.
So with Tim's stuck in a hall way thing I thought it happened to me but I had to jump up on this pipe
I agree with Barrett, Spider-Man's story was good but not as great as everyone makes it.
One the my fav games from the previous gen. Exploration was maybe a little complicated at times, especially backtracking for collectables. Respawn were right to restrain themselves with this one, had they tried to go open-world/ go TOO ambitious this could have been a major flop. I cant wait to see what they do with the sequel now that they have a really solid foundation to build on
Andrea... What happened
I keep telling myself during the respawn, 'use the force,' 'be patient,' 'don't forget to attack!' 🤣
Just an amazing game!
So what are this year's game of the year contender?
Nothing for fans of Solo?
What about the ardinian?
Wow, wasn't expecting everyone to be this high on it.
Drachmalius its respawn rightfully so
Ton of things wrong with it but potential game of the year? Hmm...
Tim: *falls off the elevator like a dumbass, gets stuck, blames the game*
Played this from the second it came out all the way to 4.30pm when i completed the story. Been going around collecting all the chests and secrets and started a new game to actually take my time with and im still loving it. Really hope they decide to add a newgame plus. Hopefully the make a second game
Does anybody know when photo mode will be in the game,I thought it was day one feature?Other then that game is absolutely 🔥🔥🔥🔥liiit!!!!
EA is killin' it, Need For Speed Heat last week then Star Wars Fallen Order this week; two hits, two weeks in a row & not one microtransaction or loot box in either game. 🔥🎮
Glad Fran stopped Greg. I’m not full blackout but if you emphasize stuff from a trailer it takes even more away from running into it
