This was some good writing from Melrose before they got lazy in Seasons 5 onwards
Compare this sequence to any from season 6 or 7. This is pure Melrose, and the acting is quite good for a soap. What a shame that the show ended up as a cheap comedy.
Yes, earlier seasons so much better! Around Season 4 it gets silly and they do try and make some changes in Season 5 but it didn’t last.

Amazing play by Michael, so well written and well played by the actors! Even better when Sydney confesses her share of the act. Poor Jane was surrounded by abusers.

I really loathed the way they ruined Robert's character in a single episode. He was a sincere, stand up guy and good to Jane for 90% of the episodes he was in, and then they threw him under the bus and wrote him out of character just so Michael wins - and he won for nothing in the end.
What a great acting showcase for both of these actors though - Josie with the emotion and Thomas with the cold, unfeeling and villainous responses.

Thanks for informing me! But, wasn't Robert a Narcissist?! Narcissists lack empathy, or take accountability for anything. Can't recall exactly how Jane's divorce with Michael got settled. Hopefully, Robert was more after helping Jane, than charging her back and forth with every single/simple work that was already required to be done. Or, after getting his money from her ONLY. At times it makes you wonder if lawyers or doctors can ever be trusted?! Since most of them are Narcissists. Who isn't anyway in this sad and pathetic world?! Sending healing thoughts. Prayers. 🤲🥰
