But it was the board that was bogging the most in my quiver that time. Always wondered if I had it a touch too long and was just not all the way back...
Dan is a freak. He surfs equally well goofy and regular and he likes going frontside. You'll see more of it in the FRK video with Kelly on our channel.
Love the channel - I am researching an advanced beginner board to replace my 7' foamy and improve on. FL west and east coast .5 - 3 foot waves. I watched and read a lot of your reviews and am looking at Rocket Wide, Sampler, Puddle Fish and Seaside and the No Brainer. I am 5'11 160 was thinking 6"0 to 6'2 for more volume as I learn. I would appreciate your thoughts as most of your boards are shorter and am curious on how more volume would affect your choices. Thanks so much
Looks like a great board to have in the quiver. I don’t have a FireWire but the epoxy board I do have I find is really difficult to paddle into waves when the offshore is blowing. Is this a general rule for Epoxy boards because they are so light or is it just mine?
Dan Mann made a fin set with FCS called the 'Firewire Five Fin" - it has a lot of pivot which is why we recommend it for this board. The No Brainer has a very flat rocker so it feels really drivey. The fins help add pivot to a rocker that's otherwise built for speed and drive.
I have a board that's lasted forever and it's the only board that can play with crappy surf... Looks just like mine, but this has less rocker as well as no thruster box setup. I think this looks like the ultimate Gulf Coast board, even better than mine. It's only 19 years old and from Mike at WRV... Even Yancy Sr. asked me where I got it from when I was down there. I'm really interested in these new boards. 👍🏼👍🏼
Anyway to get a hold of Dan Mann for podcast called “all things ambi”?! Actually, used see him in his previous Coronado line up and we spoke about a wave pool at Lake Las Vegas but I think he moved to the wave pool in Lenore because didn’t see him all winter...
The Gamma took a couple years, so did the FRK. Kelly takes his time riding, testing and adjusting shapes before saying they're ready to be released. Patience. 😊
After slater took several comps to accept the "no brainer" that the slater designs EPS boards weren't cutting it and went to an Aipa PU, I wonder how the feelings of the public are towards the next "slater" board? ( (maybe he should fire himself as a team rider , its bad PR)
Kelly often jumps between EPS/Epoxy and PU/PE especially in the first year at Firewire Mark price has said Kelly wanted all his boards sprayed the same and ideally didn't want to know to take any cognitive bias away. Half the time when the haters were saying..he looks this or that on EPS/Epoxy he was actually ridding a PU/PE board. End of the day good boards are good boards.

Lft. Hyfi looks ass though out of them all. Future flex is cheat codes but it’s not as strong as lft
