Nice one Scott! - quick question, what PE are you running on your SW6000? im personally debating wether to get a 6k over an 8/10k size for casting all day (Medium size stickbaits) on the inner harbour in auckland. 650 grams reels plus 300/400 a rod can get tiring pretty quickly, I usually try to go as thin as possible with my gear. Keen to hear your thoughts?
Yeah great question, the 6000 size stella is great for its light weight size and runs 13kg of drag. I run PE3 Ocea braid which is 60lb breaking strain. The only weakness is that the retrieve is 103cm. So you do more winding and sometimes faster winding even though it's lighter. You have to wind a 80-100gr lure faster to work it properly but a 60gr lure doesn't need so much work so less energy expended. I dont think we have the 6000XG model in NZ which is a bit faster, like 112cm. per retrieve. A 300gr rod (grappler PE5/6 or CD Haku PE3-6) would be a good compromise with a 8000/10000 reel. A 8000 twinpower is 590gr and 107cm retrieve, maybe a good choice on one of those rods.....
The ocean view from the boat looks wonderful for me. I really enjoyed watching how to catch the big fish.😀👍👍
Mean mahi bois! Would love to see how you rig and plan on these catches!
Nice one. Great to get the results with the two nice fish at the end of the day. Thanks for the video.
Thanks :)
Cracked it !
So we fired our hooks in that direction, Fish on!! Haha 🤙🏽
