When I played this game on release and the first time I heard the main theme transition to this, my jaw dropped. One of the best experiences with a video game soundtrack I've ever had
I don't know how many agree, but while I love this battle track a lot, there's an edge to it that sounds intentionally off-balance. This is among the lightest parts of the eventual whole trilogy, but even it has a slightly ominous tone (which indeed we get a reminder of at the end of the Grasslands).
I love how there’s a whole major key version just for it to switch into as the game transitions from combat to traversal
Square Enix releasing the OST on TH-cam on their own for easy access is greatly appreciated. I wish more game companies would do this.
