This is 1 of the show's best episodes. The triangle of conflict, excellent writing, masterfully and brilliantly sarcastic performance by Jonathan. It would have been even better had David Gerringer played Dave Woodard.
It seems that people of science don't last too long in the DS universe. Dr. Guthrie was bumped-off by the Phoenix. And now Dr. Woodard was killed. And Barnabas was a lot nastier in the early seasons than he later became.
You're right like he said " a lot of knowledge is a even a more dangerous thing" And Barnabas can't take that fact for granted.. Barnabas Collins said to the good doctor Hoffman in the previous episode" think of it is a mercy killing, because the other alternative he would be to suffering enormous pain and he would only beg for death" therefore death would be a mercy to Dr WOODARD" I'm just paraphrasing Barnabas's comment. Does a great scenes always remember those philosophical discussions
"The Shadow of Death hovers over you, Doctor Woodard!!!" "That's not the Shadow of Death, you silly vampire! That's the shadow of the microphone boom!!" Man, I loved this show when I was a teenager!!
I would say that to Jeanette it's habit for me and my sister when we watched it back in the 60s we would rush home from school to tune in the next episode.. it's a hoot to hear them and watch them make mistakes and all along they keep a pretty serious tempo throughout the whole episode.. we have to give them all credit cuz they hold such great restraint in cracking up. As you would see in shows like Carol Burnett .. this show is very addictive you're right
Yes they call that special effects. By pressing pause on the record button and then put Barnabas in front of the window and then press pause again to continue the recording..
What makes him think Barnabas wants to destroy himself? oh when he first became a Vampire against his will...he might have he even begged his father to kill him...but his father couldn't do it. Doctor Woodard was foolish to think Barnabas would kill himself. he has no idea how Barnbas became a Vampire he didn't ask to be one.
@@georgeplagianos6487 lol, that wouldve made dr.woodard patient zero 52 years before coronavirus started to spread (bc the virus was unleashed to humanity by bill gates and dr.fauci in 2019).
Barnabas definitely wasn’t playing the sympathetic vampire here.
Yes, i was one those kids that rushed off the school bus to watch this on weekday evenings at 3:30 . The occasional nightmares were delightful.

I agree, the original Woodard was much better.

Dr. Eric Lang was knocked by Angelique and a prominent ghost hunter was knocked off by Quentin.

I got immediately hooked when it ran as reruns in the 1970's at midnight. Changed my sleep habits.
Jonathan Frid!!!! Was The Best!!!! Love My DARK SHADOWS!!!!😍🏇😍🏇😍🏇😍🏇
I never knew vampires could change to bats on DS. Furthermore, here's outside the window in bat form but then just magically appeared inside. Cool.

It was a grand entrance indeed. 😊

I would of played along and went far away.
When I first saw this scene, I was deadly afraid.
Afraid? That he could have been one of the first coronavirus vaccine recipient?🤔😢
