Don’t sweat not catching a spotty man, we all have days like that. I don’t that you tactics were bad at targeting them at all, that’s pretty much the bread and butter when it comes to spotty fishing, docks, pilings, rocks, and right above the grass. At least it wasn’t a sunk feast 🤜🤙
@@DudefishhTV exactly haha i was a bit confused why spotties were the target. Sand bass and halibut are much more common but its hard getting anything of legal size in the harbor. We're you guys allowed to go out into the gulch at all?

That spot was right down the street from where we met in the morning and had to meet back up later in the day so we thought we'd stick close and try to get more fishing time in. Welp... wrong decision haha. Some people drove like 40 mins or more to get to a spot.
At least you beat the skunk tho. 🤙 I have the same kayak plus I also love those bg reels too. Maybe I'll see you out there some time. I'm in long Beach

Not trying to be mean or think I know everything about fishing. Just some constructive criticism when setting the hook on a ned rig all you have to do is reel into it. Pick up your slack and reel into and put some pressure on your rod. That light hook will set right into it.
That’s not mean at all brotha thanks for the tip! What’s funny is I use to never set the hook on ned rigs until people started screaming at me to set the hook lol. I think I’m more on your side though if I really think about it.

I love to fish that spot. there are a lot of sand bass, and calico's there, but i don't think iv'e ever caught a spottie there before. i've never cared if the fish was a spottie or sand bass, they both congregate over hard structure. the only way to target spotties, is to just fish eel grass. if your fishing grass you wont catch sand bass. Great video though!
Yea it’s a fun spot for sure. I’ve seen some big spotties pulled out of there too. It seems like an overall super fun spot to fish. Appreciate the comment brotha!

Ive been fishing in that harbor my entire life. Spotties are probably the hardest of the inshore species to catch there.
