    "...Oh. Far Out !"
You can tell when this was written. Lol.
Will be bringing that phrase back, for sure! 😁

listen to the entire album before you make judgement, the entire album teaches you to be open, listen before you speak.
Its a great listen, and well before its time in educating about every kind of person, girl, boy, always be open, gracious and love everyone for who they are.
It teaches that life is about being kind and fair!

It was the beginning of the transgender transhumanism movement. God made men and women different for a reason. Divorce went up at this time. It was part of social engineering. Communism. Marlo is a teansgender.

I loved this album as a child. This track in particular. It taught me, at a very early age, that being a Karen *never* pays off

A fine example of the TV Trope: "Too Dumb to Live." It's funny how you can tell that the other kids are clearly getting exasperated with how annoying she is. 😆

I do not think that there is anything wrong with ladies wanting to go first and to expect special treatment. But I think that when they get special treatment, that they she act thankful for it and not take it for granted. They should make an effort to respect other people around them whether they be male of female.

This was written by poet Shel Silverstein, who had a rather morbid sense of humor.

I think that poem was included in his book "A Light in the Attic". IIRC in the foreword he indicated that the poem was inspired by this skit. I think he also wrote the poem "Helping" ("Some kind of help is the kind of help we all can do without".) I'm not sure which came first, though, his poem or the FTB song.

@keeottlady2002 uhhh, you Do understand that this is FORTY years old, right? I WAS the child it was aimed at when it came out & it was NOT lost on me as a little girl. Ladies First, William Wants A Doll, so many of Hesse stories lasted with me for my whole life. I just played the theme song, which I haven't heard in 35 years & remembered every word by heart.. It's only sad that we're further behind in 2012 than we were in the 70's. time for a revamp, Marlo?

    • @robinchesterfield42
      @robinchesterfield42 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

This is a very old post but FUCK yeah! I too heard this when it was (close to) new, and grew up with it as a little kid. And yeah, we're further behind in some ways now than we were in the '70s...
The whole album is great. And if _this_ story offends the OMGFEMINISTSAREEVIL!!!!!!!!!!!1 crowd? Hooo-EEE, don't listen to the one with the two babies figuring out what they want to be, etc. That one will just melt your pathetic little brain.

It saddens me that all you millennials and Z-ers, for all of your heightened sensibilities, can’t see past the way the characters are dressed, or the quality of the animation; that’s not exactly “woke” behavior, is it?
This album was created by someone who shares your values by challenging the then-norms about gender, professions, behaviors (including a major knock against toxic masculinity before that expression even existed). Watch the whole thing and challenge yourself to ignore the superficial.

In the original poem (which can be found in Where The Sidewalk Ends), it IS cannibals. "A cannibal known as Fry-Em-Up Dan/Who sat on his throne in a bib so grand/With a lick of his lips and a fork in his hand/As he tried to decide who'd be first in the pan/From back of the line, in that shrill voice of hers/Pamela Purse yelled 'Ladies first!'"

Gender equality means we treat each other equally. We show kindness to everyone no matter what gender. No one should get special privilege because they are a girl or a boy. You are obviously not one of those radical feminists that claim everything is sexist. I like you.
