Thank you for the video. We're considering seasonal, part-time work when we retire in a few years and working in an RV park would be right up our alley. However, it does seem odd that you have to pay KOA to use their employment site. I guess they figure those who pay are a more likely fit for the positions.
I think that was our initial thought too about paying for the site - however, the benefits you get from it far outweigh the cost. Consider it investing in your education with KOA University, the ability to have KOA management search for you and honestly one Travel certificate to your next assignment pays for the membership. Also consider RV Park prices have gone up quite a bit with the new supply and getting a site for $125 to $250/mo including electric - it takes us about 12 hours work each to cover our site all the rest is income - we haven't had to touch any savings!
My mother and I on the way home from Mount Rushmore. We stayed at the KOA in Sheridan Wyoming. It was just starting to snow when we woke up and we were snowed in. I unhooked from my fifth wheel and pulled my truck forward when I woke up a big giant branch had fallen right in front of my truck, I pulled two more feet more taken out my truck but we had a good stay there. Got my mom. I got my mom some wine and we hung out watched movies when we finally had to go. My sides were covered in snow. I didn’t have a ladder and they help me at KOA to clear the snow off my slides so we can go on the road. It was a very nice day there. I enjoy your video about the KOA workmight be interested thank you again
We signed up for KOA Workamper and hope to get positions. We’ve been workamping for a private campground this summer doing exactly what you’ve been doing.
Great information folks. We will be working up in CT next year with the COE. This will be.a recreation area, no campground to take care of. We also worked for Yellowstone NP for the past 2 years and loved it. Good luck to you both.
This was a fantastic video thank you! I'm 15 years away from retirement, so I'm not looking to do this just yet but I enjoyed watching your video and see there's an affordable way to do RV life which can be expensive.
Thanks for the comment, there are many ways to live this life - just keep researching and you may find you can shave off a few years from that retirement date.
Thanks for making the video, very informational as the wife and I are planning on being work campers when we retire. There's one thing about the video that needs changed. The flag when you're entering the store is not hung right. Sorry, it's an Eagle Scout thing.
Very informative video. My wife and I are planning on full time rv'ing next spring and working for KOA. Seems like an exciting and enjoyable opportunity .
Just came across your channel and great video! Like you folks, my wife and I recently retired and we will be workkamping at our first KOA in Fancy Gap, VA beginning in April thru August. We’re looking forward to it.
hello your video just pop up on my TH-cam feed, really great video, really great info, we are in a KOA in Texarkana Tx full time but going and working at others in the USA sounds fun now that we have been around the KOA system as a customer it would be great to help other KOA Locations to step up there game.....anyway thanks for doing this video very good info
Thanks for all the awesome information. We are planning on this option being 2024. Our question to you and other RVers is do you have a home base, home our did you sell your home? Thanks
We rented our house but you don't need a home base. Our home base for vehicle registration, drivers license and mail is Americas Mailbox. See out other video for more info
thanks for the great information - hope you can answer 3 questions for me 1) you mentioned in a subsequent comment that it is not tax free... how is the taxable amount calculated? The value of the campsite, minus the $250/month you pay? 2) the $55 to create an account... is that $55 per person or per couple; 3) Are there any requirements on the rig? 10 year rule? Do you have to submit a picture? Your video made me want to retire quickly and get on this!! Thank you, I plan to subscribe!
My wife and I recently moved into a RV travel trailer, and have it parked at a RV park, and work regular jobs. But I think it would be nice to be able to travel more throughout the US and work. We just need to figure out how to make money while traveling.
Congrats on your retirement, my wife and I retired in July. Considering Workamping. Appreciate the KOA info. One question, have you come across positions that are available for less than six months or an entire season, maybe something for three months with KOA?
Congrats on your Retirement. And YES you can do shorter time frames, for example we are on a 90 day assignment right now. There are a couple of ways to go about this. First on workatkoa.com you can search for jobs that are 1 to 3 months but I don't recommend that, the other way is to search mid season or towards the end of a season - some people leave their jobs early and it creates an opening. You never know the situation and there are a lot of short term jobs listed. I like to think Everything is negotiable you just have to ask.
@@RVIntoRetirement just checking back with you two. How did the koa job go? Would you do it again? We are now on the road, snowbirds traveling thru Texas. Hope all is well!
If you go to workatKOA.com and register it's now free and doesn't cost anything and you can see the terms and conditions based on location. Everywhere is different
I guess they changed their site, there is no pay to sign up anymore. Just create a free account and we also didn't see a place to put your guys number in anywhere. Also the KOA university was missing as well. We did get a profile set up and building the resume and submitting our couple one that we have, looking forward to starting this journey in 25... I retire 3/1 and we are hitting it. Learned a lot from your vids, Thanks for posting. Tim and Carla
Hi, hey great idea/suggestion. I am looking for something like this. Thank you so much for the video. Question, the RV Camp where your at seemed to emphasize she wanted to hire couples, what opportunities are there for singles? Thanks again.
There are several ways to go as a single. Most maintenance positions are for single parties, national parks look a lot for singles too. Also negotiate with the park, even though this manager wanted couples she hired singles two year in a row. Also watch our new video called workcamping 101
I can't find that koa website as it appears in your video. Searching brings me to a Koa site but nothing in depth about courses or joining for a fee? Any help appreciated, a link maybe ... :)
I can’t help notice the one job description where they say it’s for couples only. They then go on to say the guys will do this and the girls will do that. This speaks volume (imo). Words matter. They are slamming the door on couples that may not fall under they’re preconceived notion. I hope they’re not all this way. Thanks for sharing this informational and useful video.

I've listened to a few RVers that talked about KOA work camping. I think its the way to go. Thanks
Yes, it's good training. Good opportunity to learn from a campground chain that has been very successful
Jim and Korin, very interesting video. It provides a lot of information for fulltime campers that have not done any work kamping.
Thanks Jim.
Fantastic campground work force video. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Enjoyed this video. Every question we could think of was answered. Thanks!😉

Thanks for pointing that out Rodney - I passed the info along to the Manager
It should not be hung period. That is a desicrated flag. The American flag is Red white blue.
Not black white red blue.

If you receive no pay it's not taxable. They discontinued the fee so it's free now. No rule on the RV but that could be site specific

@@matsulli2086 KOA job was great, we'll be at another KOA next summer and work camping in Arizona (non-koa) for the winter.
How bout some basics like how much $ do you make. Site cost?
If you go to workatKOA.com and register it's now free and doesn't cost anything and you can see the terms and conditions based on location. Everywhere is different
Great Video! Do you know if getting paid with a free campsite for working is tax free or will you get a 1099 from koa?
No it's not tax free.
No it's not tax free.
Holy! Do you have to have a 45' mansion on wheels to get a work job? RV requerment?
Actually no you can have a cheap bumper pull trailer

Congratulations on your upcoming journey. let us know if you have any questions
Does KOA have any short-term positions of 2 wks or are they all a complete season or a min of 3 mo??
Not that I have seen... maybe at the tail end of a season. most assignments are between 3 and six months.

Do KOA campgrounds allow work campers to stay in a truck camper?
They allow them to camp so I don't see why not. But it may be up the the individual patk
Do you know if Canadians can work at a KOA in the US?
Yes they can
I can't find that koa website as it appears in your video. Searching brings me to a Koa site but nothing in depth about courses or joining for a fee? Any help appreciated, a link maybe ... :)
They no longer have the classes, the website is still workatkoa.com, make a free account and search for campgrounds you would like to work at
Do they allow animals in koas
Yes
👏👍🏻
DO THEY ALLOW PITBULLS , HARPER'S VALLEY DOESN'T. , MOST OF THEM DON'T WORKS FOR US
Not sure. I suggest you contact the resort

I think you will find most places more flexible than the job description alone, at least that has been our experiance.
@@RVIntoRetirement ok. That’s good. 😊
It really pisses me off when people only want “couples” to work camp. Single people need jobs too
Singles jobs are out there, just not as easy to find. A lot of conservation groups have spots for singles as well as forest campgrounds.
Great information. Thank you
