Crazy drama. Thx for sharing. I’ve had many experiences in my 4 years and have been very fortunate to miss this drama so far. Don’t let this stop you from work camping. I’ve enjoyed it immensely and have made some good friendships.
Glad your back home , too much drama these days. I'm in des Moines and yea, the weather is slipping into winter for sure. Keep being you brother , doin a great job at it.
Unfortunately, it really soured me. I don't see myself workamping again for the foreseeable future but who knows? Maybe I'll give it another go one day.
In my 3+ years of full-time RVing and workamping for 95% of that time I've seen one common denominator. The ones that cause friction usually do so because they feel like they have no control. Since they feel like they have no control they manifest that into behaviors that are counterproductive to what is a really simple job. The best example I've seen countless times is when the retirees come into workamping having owned businesses or were super successful at their organization (which is what allowed to retire in the first place), then having the shock of them not calling the shots anymore and they have the largest cognitive dissonance and freak out. It usually starts off passive-aggressive with comments out the side of their face and behind the backs of those in charge. Those have been who I've seen coming and going during a season. The ones who fail to adapt and can't let go of that feeling to "need" to run things. I bring this up because I suffered from this same thing when I started workamping. I thought I knew better. While I do have my lifetime of knowledge to bring to the table, most of these campgrounds have been in operation for decades and have a pretty good system for their location. That's the other thing, each individual campground is different, even if they're next door to each other. Understanding that if I'm not in charge then I'm also not responsible was a huge relief off me. Now, when something breaks, I don't have to worry about where the resources are coming from, or the backlash from unhappy guests. I just inform the owner/manager and they let me know what the course of action is. Workamping can and is one the most relaxing and fulfilling jobs out there. We get to help people all day! Do your best to enjoy what you do!
They're lazy. It's not just workcamping it's everywhere. The workpool is filled with lazy, entitled people who want to be paid very well but who don't want to work and aren't even qualified anyway.
Sorry you had to experience that. Nobody needs more drama. I enjoy your videos and all your tips and information. Haven’t seen your lady Row in your videos hope all is good. Sending you positive energy on your next adventure 🙏🏼❤️🤙🏼
What ashame and how sad these people are. Feel bad that you & Roe had to go through such a stressful and puzzling first-time experience. Glad that the owner paid them off to get them out of there. They were certainly bad news. David, it's not your place to detact red flags. It's the owner's reponsibilty. Over the years, the owner should have had enough knowledge or research tools to determine potential employee capabilities and whether they would be a good fit for their operation. A good owner monitors their emploee behavior and should make any correction swiftly and forcibly. Thank you for sharing this with us.
I feel like they just wanted a guaranteed camping spot in a location that is difficult to grab for an extended stay. I could see this being their M.O. as a way to get cheap stays in nice areas. Terrible and hope these bad apples don’t mess it up for the rest of us.
Honestly, I don't think that's the case. They were both good coworkers for the first couple weeks. And opening the campground for the season was a lot of hard work, but again, if this is really their 38th workamping gig then you'd think they would know what to expect.
I hate all that happened but unfortunately it only takes a few bad apples to ruin a whole bag. I also hope that this doesn't nock the two of you out of camping and bringing us videos. We love watching and hearing from you guys. Take a little time to relax and enjoy life and hope to see you both again soon ❤❤❤
Gosh, so sorry all the emotional drama went on so long. Horrible what happened to Roe and the yelling match. This would eventually happen to me but would take a very long time as it did Roe. I know there are some amazing places to work camping places. Like really nice places. You two were strong to keep holding it together. If i can find those places i saw I will let you know. David, i love watching the love you have for your dog. So nice that i glow inside:)❤
Wow, this story really resonated with me. It’s unsettling how common these situations are in campgrounds that don't offer a livable wage. When people feel undervalued, especially after repeated experiences of being taken advantage of, it’s natural for resentment to build up. I know some people argue, 'You have a choice; you don’t have to take the job,' but it's not that simple. Many full-time travelers are left with few options as the cost of living continues to rise, and they often find themselves in a cycle where they can’t easily afford alternatives. On the flip side, I realize some people in these roles may be dealing with personal challenges, which can make a tough situation even harder. It's definitely a complex issue, and I hope more campgrounds start recognizing the importance of fair wages and livable conditions.
Work camped for 4 years at a Colorado state park and loved it. Beautiful place, good people, pay and free living. What's not to like? Hope to go back next summer. Had a few people that didn't want to work and others that caused trouble but for the most part it was great. Some days you stayed very busy and others had slack time. It was a good mix and most everyone would cover for you if needed. It's amazing how good it can be for everyone willing to share and play nice.
I'm so glad you spoke up against him improperly putting down the mouse stuff. That was the right thing to do. And 38 divided by 8years is waaayyyy too many jobs. I saw the red flag right away. Thanks for sharing your experience. My husband and I are considering work camp. The owner sounded like she was good to work for.
The owner was excellent to work for. As bad as this experience was, I loved working for her and it really just felt like I was getting paid to help out my grandma all day. I always left work each evening feeling good.
@FateUnbound from your videos everything else about this experience looked good and I hope you will look back and remember the good things that happened. I know 5 months seems to be the usual contract. Did the time pass quickly? I think that's the only part holding me back from trying it. We are the type of people who, if we commit to doing something, we complete the job.
I’m glad the owner sent them on their way and not fall for the woe is me story. It makes me wonder why would they complain about working when they don’t even have enough money in their account to go to a different campground 🤷♀️
David I had a similar experience my first time work camping last year. One worker would show up most or the time ...but sometimes he could not be found, and just acted like we should not be upset with him...Another couples specialty was making a mountain out of any and all molehills!...I have not work camped after that. We camp to get away from Drama! For the folks that have a good gig....be thankfull!!!
Don’t let this experience spoil the your workamping views we have only had two summers workamping but we a have had good partners both seasons . One season in West Yellowstone in a candy store , and one in Billings Mt. at a campground had a great time both years and made life long friends
Ouch. What a terrible experience that one bad couple can bring into a situation. Sorry especially for Roe that had to deal with an ugly confrontation. At least you picked a good alias name for the woman involved. 😏
Great video of you and Sweetie. Sounds like you learned a lot on that Workamping gig. Focus on the positives, I think it's a good fit for you and your skills are very valuable. In my experience there is like three types of workampers, volunteers, or those who work for a FHU site or paid employees. Those paid seem to have the most grudges. Overall our experiences have been really good. Paid employees take care of projects and bathrooms, while volunteers or FHU hosts take care of the office, customer contact and campground site prep. Maybe give it another try.
I work at a camp in NE Utah love it, can’t understand why people like those two find it so difficult. Free camping and pay for easy work for the most part.
One thing you don't do at a warehouse, is "steal time". They're very strict about that. Submit a false write-in time because you arrived late, and you're outta there! Repeatedly go 15 minutes over on your half-hour lunch, you're booted! A task scheduler found out the hard way! 😅 Commit time sheet fraud at a bank, and get found out, you're out the door! Don't show up for work in Dallas Monday because you partied down in Houston over the weekend and missed your flight? Goodbye! That happened to one of my bosses.
Yikes! What a story! I would have guessed the same thing about the type of people you’d be working with. How disappointing! Sorry you had to go through all of that. Hopefully your future experiences will all be positive.
Nice Starlink case! I just picked one up for the Mini. That was some unexpected drama. I’ve always pictured workamping as laid-back and fun. I saw a job at a campground where someone could make pizza and cook hot wings - sounds like a blast! I’d probably keep my hours around 20-25 a week for tax reasons and make the most of my time off. You should try more workamping to see if this kind of experience is the norm.
As a teen I worked in parks and recreation in the 80's it did not pay much but it was out doors and usually fun, met all types from the constant complainers, the work shy ones that hid all of the time the gotta get high all day people, to the strange girl that was a nympho that attacked every new male. I mean it wan never a dull moment...back then they would call it payton place ,today just high drama. You will always have people that shirk work, steal from time clocks get five finger discounts it is just how a lot of people are. No integrity nor incentive to do what is right. This world has all kinds in it.
At a warehouse, our crew had one guy that had an attitude similar to this. One night, some product got placed on a wrong pallet, and everyone had to tear in and look. This guy commented "I didn't sign up for this!" and walked off. Next day after pre-shift meeting, he was walked out.
I honestly believe that many have never 'worked hard' in their lives, yet they perceive that they have, on what others have said. I remember working with my dad on a construction site, where back then I was in my later teens, thinking I could handle the 'labour' job to start with, and of course no idea how hard it truly would be! A truck arrived with a bundle of 3/4" Tonge & groove plywood, which was left on the road, and the house being built of course was some distance from the road, and my job was to carry this plywood for flooring, to the carpenters. I had to cross a mud filled front yard of course, so it was slippery, but my thinking was, if I could carry two sheets at a time, the job would go quicker! Well, my first foray across and the added weight pushed me into the mud, to where one boot got stuck in the mud, and my foot came out of the boot! All while holding two sheets of plywood, so I had to gingerly find my boot in the mud, and start wiggling it out with great discomfort, yet finally reaching the destination! From then on, I only carried one sheet at a time, but after getting that bundle across, and then all the jobs after that, I was wore right out, and these days I still remember, that if someone says they have worked hard, that day always pops into my head, where I can state I truly know what 'hard work' is. Yes, I know it was physical, and mental work can seem like hard work as well, but now knowing how drained I was at the end of the days of working construction, I still think physical work is harder, of course my own personal opinion! Thanks for your story David, much appreciated, and always watching for the next one!
They hopefully aren't the norm! And what you wanted from other workampers IS the norm!! I'm currently in the Seattle area for the first time! Actually, this is my first time on the West Coast at all. There's so much to do and see here that I decided to stay for a while! Which leads me to my question...it rains every single day? All winter? Every day? 😅
Wow!! 🤯 what a nightmare!! Love how you named her Karen.. lol! Sorry you guys had to go through that.. y’all were like, why did we leave our wonderful solitude in the forest? I know there are very enjoyable work camping jobs.. wonder what one could do to make sure they don’t land in hell..🤔 times are changing..
I met my very first REAL psychopath at a farm/work experience and left after 2 months. The most eery and hostile person who on the first day delved into my religious beliefs, second day asked my credit score. Apparently, the psychopath will do this to see who they can throw off their game/who will not tell them to FO right away and then they will pick their victim. Creepy art on her insta. Lived in a van, parents kicked her out. Talked about things she stole from her last gig with AmeriCorps. Of course, she couldn't wait to show off her gun skills. Loved , loved the chainsaw. NOPE I LEFT; beware-she's out there.
As soon as I read what you have to do well not so much what to do but how many hours you need to work I would not even taken the job and keep looking till I find a part time job.
I am a pretty good sized guy. Ex-military. 5’9” 230lbs. Yep, I am big around. I would have gotten in his/her face and told him to quit complaining like a little girl. You signed up for this Buttercup! Don’t make me put you in your place! Now that is me. You look pretty scrappy and can hold your own. I would take some control about working with this worthless piece a crap! Glad you told the owner! Respect!
They were just looking for free camping. That's why it's important to get references from previous employers. Can you imagine Bob and Karen asking the owner for a reference for their next job?
I just retired, and will be looking for work camping jobs, God forbid I ever get in this situation, Im looking for peace and quiet and a happy life … no drama
That’s one reason I will not do work camping, I hate any kind of drama, I like to mind my own business and just my job, life’s too short for that kind of bullshit.. That’s why I was self employed most of my life….My way or the highway 😂 worked out for me anyway. Wish you the best on your next work camping adventure, you probably should give it another try.
They're different species yes, but they're both rodents, which is an order of mammals. And these specific pellets will kill any species in the rodent order.
Good for you Roe! Your not a doormat. Going off on my woman is a No No! I'll pack their STUFF! I would make sure that other campground look out for them.😡😡 Miss you Roe 🥲🥲even some still pictures will work.
You might want to put your "commercial " in the middle ish of your video. People might not stick around until the end of the video. Otherwise, it's a great video!

It seems to me that there are a lot of whiny complainers in our society now. And a lot of people whose lives are a mess of contradictions, I suppose that goes hand in hand with weak character. I know of some people that seem to need drama and strife in their lives. They will create the drama, if they have to, they seem to be addicted to cortisol.
I was thinking that 5 years ago it was hard to find good workers but now I think it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack an you an roe are definitely needles I guess bob an karen (sounds like a real karen) are the haystack 😆🙄 they may have had other unknown problems I hope they don't see your vlog they may come looking for you guys you know their's a lot of crazy people these days
I am upset with y. I was expecting a shorter video but got a longer video instead and I wanted to see more Sweety, but y only gave me SOME Sweety! I didn't like yr blk and wht flannel and I think y should wear a red flannel to match Sweety's harness! And btw, why was this video sooo short! Why not longer a video!! And what's up with all the Sweety content!! Too much SWEeTY!!!!!😡🤬 .... J/K 😜
38 camp grounds .. they must have been fired at every one of them .... they proly just dident do a very good job... Dave some people do theses things to see how far thay can push the envelop. if they worked in 38 camp grounds may be there were othere people picking up the slack there for them and these people just do this to see how less and less they can do ...its like a bullie i got a friend who figured out how to push my buttons and in sted of being a frend he turned in to a real A**** Hole... but yaaa people lik theses people exzist useresssss ...
Yeah, that argument was incredibly confusing. Especially since I said I would do it anyway so he was off the hook for that job. I'm not sure why he got so upset about it.
You are talking to a camera and not playing with Sweetie. She knows that, and that is not fun. She senses that! Were you having fun playing with Sweetie or just going thru the paces multitasking? The answer was latter and she picked up on that. So you owe her!
I did pick her poop up, I had a small roll of poop bags with me and always do when I walk her in public places. You think I'm gonna show picking shit up on video? Chill out dude.
Crazy drama. Thx for sharing. I’ve had many experiences in my 4 years and have been very fortunate to miss this drama so far. Don’t let this stop you from work camping. I’ve enjoyed it immensely and have made some good friendships.
Glad to see you again keep up the great video's
Glad your back home , too much drama these days. I'm in des Moines and yea, the weather is slipping into winter for sure. Keep being you brother , doin a great job at it.
Great story. What a hot mess! I hope it didn't sour you both on future workamping. Looking forward to more videos :)
Unfortunately, it really soured me. I don't see myself workamping again for the foreseeable future but who knows? Maybe I'll give it another go one day.
Any time you can tell a story with Sweetie by your side, it is a good day.
I know everyone loves seeing Sweetie, I try to get her in as many videos as possible :)
Oh my gosh Sweetie is ADORABLE! Also, I must have that hat.
Sorry you had to experience that. Nobody needs more drama. I enjoy your videos and all your tips and information. Haven’t seen your lady Row in your videos hope all is good. Sending you positive energy on your next adventure 🙏🏼❤️🤙🏼

I would be so blessed if Sweetie lives to 15 😊

The fact that they did not have any money unless they got this cash tells you all you need to know about these people.....
I’m not surprised. Some people can never be satisfied.

great info.
I love Rottweilers. She is so beautiful
Some people are just complainers, then their spouse if forced to defend their behavior.
I work at a camp in NE Utah love it, can’t understand why people like those two find it so difficult. Free camping and pay for easy work for the most part.

Sweetie loves you too! She doesn't know you but she's best friends with everyone instantly.
@@FateUnbound Dogs naturally read my love-dogs aura. I wish I could meet her!😂
Happy birthday sweety
We should name names to help protect other good people.
You nailed it when you said there is no pleasing some people. Sounds like the owner did the right thing by getting rid of them.
At a warehouse, our crew had one guy that had an attitude similar to this. One night, some product got placed on a wrong pallet, and everyone had to tear in and look. This guy commented "I didn't sign up for this!" and walked off. Next day after pre-shift meeting, he was walked out.

Yes I saw that but I wasn’t going to comment on unless someone else did 🤣
We noticed also 😂😂
Good thing I brought doggy bags! 👍
@@FateUnbound you are a good man. Glad to see you back making videos.
All the best to you and Roe.
Was there names Art & Angela? We had same type experience.
I just retired, and will be looking for work camping jobs,
God forbid I ever get in this situation, Im looking for peace and quiet and a happy life … no drama
Lots of drama!
They loved drama period.
FYI voles and mice are different species. Voles burrow and mice can live in many different environment, including above ground.
They're different species yes, but they're both rodents, which is an order of mammals. And these specific pellets will kill any species in the rodent order.
Bring Jenny back into the videos David !
We definitely don’t need people like that. I have met some in the past, definitely avoid them.
100% agree, we don't need that kindof stress.
Love it
Thanks!
Good video. Unfortunately those types of people are everywhere.
It left a Laundrie / Petito feel when you drove away from the campground without Roe. And what woman wouldn't want to go see a baby?
integrity was not in their lexicon.
Most work campers just want the position, pay and free site. They don’t actually want to work.
Good for you Roe! Your not a doormat. Going off on my woman is a No No! I'll pack their STUFF! I would make sure that other campground look out for them.😡😡 Miss you Roe 🥲🥲even some still pictures will work.
@@GeneM-z7b I really liked Roe. She was great a navigating.
@GeneM-z7b I just now noticed that he doesn't even have pictures up of them together in videos. Sad.
You might want to put your "commercial " in the middle ish of your video. People might not stick around until the end of the video. Otherwise, it's a great video!
Wish Sweetie a happy birthday for me🎉
I did!

Thank you for supporting the channel If we've done our jobs we've inspired someone to chase their dreams!
Wow that sounds horrible 😮
Yeah it was a pretty awful experience
What do they pay you for that gig?
"Karen"! 😂😂
Instead of "Bob", I would have called him "Dick"
Working is rough man
Where is Jenny ???
Moles arent mice and they dont get into homes and campers
References matter. Does the previous company want them back? Do the majority of the coworkers want them back?
Ugh!
Curious, how old were these two?!
Sounds like those 2 Karen's married well.... to bad the dark cloud they omit isn't visible on 1st meeting
I am wondering how this couple gets any positive references at all?
I was thinking that 5 years ago it was hard to find good workers but now I think it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack an you an roe are definitely needles I guess bob an karen (sounds like a real karen) are the haystack 😆🙄 they may have had other unknown problems I hope they don't see your vlog they may come looking for you guys you know their's a lot of crazy people these days
They'll probably still know you're talking about them if they see this video. But I like listening to "work stories". I have some of my own.
Working with people can be challenging. At least they left. Happy Birthday, Sweetie! You still look like a puppy!
Hahaha it's always a "Karen" they are everywhere they don't know what hard work is.. Happy trails
38 campgrounds. Does nobody check references?
Apparently not 🤦
That's some crazy drama. Sorry you guys had to endure that abuse. I probably would've thrown some hands but I make bad choices when upset.
Do you all live in 2 R.V. s nowadays.
J & R?
38 camp grounds .. they must have been fired at every one of them .... they proly just dident do a very good job... Dave some people do theses things to see how far thay can push the envelop. if they worked in 38 camp grounds may be there were othere people picking up the slack there for them and these people just do this to see how less and less they can do ...its like a bullie i got a friend who figured out how to push my buttons and in sted of being a frend he turned in to a real A**** Hole... but yaaa people lik theses people exzist useresssss ...
Don't sound like people I would want..
Don't like using poisons as birds and other animals could eat a poisoned animal...
Yeah, that argument was incredibly confusing. Especially since I said I would do it anyway so he was off the hook for that job. I'm not sure why he got so upset about it.
Beautiful Sweety girl ❤
Karen! Lol
Good riddance to those two!
Karen & Bob were lucky they didn't get pounded to a jelly.
David, where is Roe???
I don't see her anymore. Are you separated or divorced???
You missed the giant crap Sweetey took at 6:39. You kept walking and talking.
Go away, random troll.
@ I am not a troll, I was just saying he probably missed sweetie taking a crap. And need s to go back and clean it up. You Fking democrat!
You are talking to a camera and not playing with Sweetie. She knows that, and that is not fun. She senses that! Were you having fun playing with Sweetie or just going thru the paces multitasking? The answer was latter and she picked up on that. So you owe her!
Go away, random troll.
@ really, you think I am a troll. I am just offering some advice. Get a life!
@@toddramsay977 Yep, definitely a troll.
good lord David…you put a baby in that girl’s belly yet?
So you let the dog off leash to crap so you dont have to clean up after it. Hoping its not on camera it was
I did pick her poop up, I had a small roll of poop bags with me and always do when I walk her in public places. You think I'm gonna show picking shit up on video? Chill out dude.
Good response to this duh question. Lol
