I'll be part of your study that proves when you "get control of your house you get control of other areas of your life" ...not only did I massively declutter my home and simplify, I also stopped drinking and have gotten control of my weight and finally tackled my credit card debt!
That is Amazing🎉. I can tell from decluttering a major project this week I’m feeling like I just may be able to finally shed the weight too! Thanks for sharing!
Congrats on your successes! I am so excited today because I got some decluttering done today. The dishes and laundry are done, and donations are in my car to drop off to help others. IT FEELS SO GOOD. I've been dealing with major health issues, so lots of basic things have taken a back seat to my health. Now, the pile on my bedroom couch is down to ONE box.
I've been listening to various of these podcasts for three hours straight, so I would tackle my godawful living room, because if I left the house one more time knowing I had to come home to the nightmare, I wouldn't come home at all. Thank you for all that you do, Cass. You really do change lives ❤❤❤
Definitely the best thing I have done for my home. It’s been two years and I still come downstairs and think how lovely it looks every day, I really thought that feeling would have passed by now. I also buy myself flowers more and enjoy them too!
@@Whatworksthisworks I stopped blaming myself if I couldn't keep it tidy and realised I needed to declutter more! I was ill and realised I needed a longer term solution. If interested in details happy to chat but that's the short answer.
Thank you isn’t enough to say. You add so much value to my life. Thank you. I didn’t learn these things as a child. At 51 yrs old, I’m starting to understand.
You said something that I think we all know but don’t consider often enough. “It’s harder to catch up than to keep up.” Very well stated, CAs. Thank you!💕💕
I hope so because I’ve been working for 3 days all day , so far, to “ catch up” with all the clutter in my 2800 sq ft house, due to having to put my house on the back burner while being full time caregiver for my 88 yr old daddy that is living with Alzheimer’s/ strokes these last 7 years. Daddy now requires 24 hr care so he is living in an Alzheimer’s unit 5 minutes away. Now I have the time to get control over my stuff and declutter and throw away things I don’t use or won’t ever wear again!!! 10:39
@@priscillaanderson2949 my daughter retired me from being secretary for our family owned carpet cleaning company because she saw I was going to have my hands full with my daddy and my chronically ill 74 yr old husband . She was so right and I appreciated her for it. Wish you the strength to carry on🥹
I am about a year into decluttering. I have some physical limitations and a serious autoimmune disease. So the process has been slow. But I feel I am a totally different person than I was a year ago ago. Some days when my house gets cluttered, I feel so stressed. I don’t think I have made any process. But then I look at old photos and see my house in the background and I am MORTIFIED. I can’t believe it was THAT BAD! But it was. And then I realize the leaps and bounds I have made with my home. I am still not done, still working on the basement. But I have still made a lot or progress. I’m going to keep going. Because it feels so good!!! I open cabinets and they are organized! I was so worried that decluttering would be so hard to let go. But as I let stuff go, I feel SO GOOD! I haven’t missed a thing. I have to remind myself of this every time a tackle a new cabinet or closet. I imagine what I want my home to look like. What’s my forever, “perfect” home. Does this item belong in my dream home? If not, it GOES! Thanks for all the motivation and help the past couple of years. It feels so good. I feel good. I lost 170 pounds in the process too. I really believe that working on my home has released dopamine, lowered my glycemic index is not so high. I’m happy and have more self control with eating. I have worked really hard, so I have to give myself credit for that. But I never felt I had the time to work on my weight, because my house needed attention. And even if I didn’t give my house the attention, I still didn’t feel I could give myself the time to go to the gym, or go for a walk, or cook a healthy meal. Everything was fast food, processed food and treats. My whole life has truly improved. Thanks again for all the videos that have helped me through the hard times, given me ideas and given me motivation. To others just starting, keep going! It’s SO Worth it!
When I started reading your post, I started to immediately tell you that your HEALTH will improve too as you improve other areas. But you beat me to it! As I finished reading your post, you started telling us just that, that your health and weight are improving. We are impressed by YOU! GOD BLESS YOU, BIG TIME, for all you are doing!
I am a stay at home dad who Homeschools the kids, cleans, does the home maintenance, cooks, etc. And I am so overwhelmed most of the time. As a man I feel like such a loser that I don’t have a real job and I can’t even keep up with my home. I’ve gotta get this under control.
Good job Dad. Just follow Cas and clean only trash one day and the “junk drawer” another day. I was in your shoes a while back and homeschool for me is over since mine just graduated. My home was a disaster. If I would have known about Cas and her help it would have sure helped me. But one - day - at - a - time is the only way.
Cas, I just want to tell you that I get so much more help and joy from listening to you than from any professional psychologist that specializes in hoarding and organization I have ever watched. You have a gift for being able to say things in such a loving way that it makes me feel like you are talking directly to me. I feel like you are my best friend just trying to tell me something that I usually know but I need to someone to encourage me to do. All the best for you and your family during this holiday season.🎄💕 30:00
How true.... I kept wondering...."why is my spending on craft supplies so OUT OF CONTROL?!?" One day, about 2 months ago, I walked into my crafting space/garage....and, I realized...."the rest of the house looks pretty good....this space....uh!!😢" Though I didn't feel I needed to take the time in this, "busy for everybody" season....I felt a MORE OVERWHELMING desire to declutter this area once again. Did I mention that I had just done this very thing 6 months ago? Sooooo, I got to work....worked hard.... I've done decluttering many times....so, I felt I could PUSH myself without giving up. There were times....I was feeling the weight of the messy middle...but, made myself go out there almost EVERY SINGLE DAY, and work on it I went thru almost EVERYTHING. One thing I did not go thru...(.I pretty much keep up on this area) ...cleaning supplies. (And, I was at the end...and so was my energy level at this point.) I finished decluttering out in this space...18 bags of trash.... 18 BAGS OF TRASH! HOW!?! 3 trips to the thrift store with things that were too good to throw away. The feeling of relief... once again, self respect....and, guess what else? 1) My need to spend became ALMOST NIL.... believe it or not.... I had NO DESIRE TO SHOP after that. 2) I began to have the desire to really deep clean . Flylady calls it "cleaning in the zone"....Love her❤! Before this moment in time, I would start this type of cleaning....and, then walk away....LIFE got in the way....or more importantly... Stuff I needed to declutter got in the way. I can tell that this action WORKED!😂 IT'S SO WORTH IT! THANKS CASS: YOU ARE A GEM! WE APPRECIATE YOU!! ❤
I wish my mother had been able to say these things to me. Or anyone for that material. I'm 66 and have been trying to live better for all of those years. So much so that I have stress related heart disease. I can see the end from here. I CAN do this. Thank you is not enough.
I find that prefer to leave the house tidy EVERY NIGHT: items put back on their place, laundry folded, dishes washed and put away, leftovers that have lassed their tome tossed out, surfaces kn bathroom and kitchen wiped down. It's great to wake up to, seeing that I love myself enough to keep a clean home is priceless, and the thought of having guest never throws me into a panic. Mind you, I am single and work from home, I know this is easy to do without children. Even with kids, they can learn to help tidy, too
My friend sent me this video and I'm so thankful she did! We both struggle with cleaning our homes and keeping them clean. She understands my struggle and thought I would benefit from watching this. I managed to get two loads of laundry going and bagged up six large black bags of garbage + took them to the dumpster in the cold snow. Thank you so much for the motivation to get started. Oh did I mention I have bronchitis while doing this?
Dear Cass! You made my life way better. My household never has been so easy. My life got more structured and even my finances are getting better, but all this things I achieved with less hard work. Thanks from my ❤ on teaching me of what I am capable of. Greetings from Vienna
I needed this pep talk so much today. I never realized that my cluttered house contributed to my depression so much. I’m going to start working on it little by little starting today. Thank u so much, Cass.❤
It really is a catch-22. Our depression physically manifestes itself onto our environment (bc we don't want to get up to clean the house, or pick up after ourselves throughout the day, etc) which just gets worse bc AS it gets worse each day, the longer it goes on we start to feel like 'why even bother? Everything is a disaster anyway ' (whether consciously or subconsciously thinking this). Then that physical manifestion makes us even MORE depressed living in such a messy, dirty, cluttered (sometimes hoarder looking to ourselves) of piles of mess everywhere (bc remember that a depressed mind usually sees the worse case scenario so even if it's not the true level of the Hoarders TV show, it would look like it to our depression brains!) So then we don't want to have friends over anymore, we don't even want to bother trying anymore bc 'it's already beyond hope (classic depression brains are frequently catastrophizing!) Which as you can see, is the entire this just snowballing to make us feel worse, so the horse gets worse, which makes us feel EVEN worse, the house just continues to get worse...and on n on n on!!! :( I definitely happened to me and I can tell you all that there is a cleanup at the end of the tunnel! I'll off my cheerleading services to anyone who wants to post photos (I totally understand if you don't want to post before photos online) but DURING photos, of maybe the trash at your curb? Or the 'free stuff' at the curb (if you decide to get rid of stuff that way) Or your car getting/the full trolley at the donation center, another idea of a photo op!!! And post them, and I'll cheer you on personally!!! Or choose a person in your life who will ONLY be positive for you during this transition to be your cheerleader, like I did!!! I asked my sister to be my cheerleader while I was doing as much as I physically could in little 5-7 minutes increments (I'm disabled & there was definitely muscle atrophy:( & would text her photos (while she was insanely busy trying to finish up her contract so she would have time to drive to CA to move my personal items to TX) but she STILL made the time to cheer me on! (bc ANY amount that I got done that month was work she didn't need to do in the 7 days between contracted jobs in OREGON!) AND IT WAS AMAZING just how much I DID GET DONE during that month!!!! Just in multiple times every day, only 5-7 minutes increments was all my body could tolerate before I had to rest again for at least an hour or two, before I could get up and do another 5-7 mins, but I did a TON MORE than I thought would be done before she got there!!! Let me know if you need a personal cheerleader via texts! I was serious!
Thank you for this. I’ve been struggling with my mental health recently and it really has manifested in my house, which as I live on my own has been able to become something I am ashamed of. Which has turned into a vicious circle as the clutter and mess made me more depressed anxious and self loathing. I tried to start off the year more positively and have made some good steps. I saw the doctor have started on antidepressants and spent the time listening to you cleaning my desk. And I do feel proud that this has been accomplished and I have a small bag of stuff to donate now to boot. I think I’ll try the 21 things challenge this evening.
The joy I had this morning just to come down to a clean kitchen after Thanksgiving last night was amazing. It was only our immediate family but we made a full holiday dinner and I, just had surgery, figured I would come down this morning to a partially done kitchen. I told them all I appreciated it. It made me sooo happy.
This is so accurate I have decluttered twice before But THIS time I am getting aggressive. My life is already changed IN ONE WEEK. For the first time in my life I am so pumped to get my finances together. ALL THANKS TO YOU
Cas, I appreciate the gentle way that you are approaching this topic❤ When you're already down, it's nice to hear a gentle voice encouraging you. And glad you mentioned Peter Walsh!
I have been binge listening to you for 2 days now! Recovering from a horrible cold, you have been my motivation to refocus. No plan, just tackling some small areas which have gotten out of hand. I have been decluttering for a few years now, so have those muscles built already. Whilst it feels chaotic because I was only doing the bare minimum the past few weeks, it has taken barely anytime at all to straighten it all back out! I put it down to my house being in order. The effort of decluttering over a few years has finally paid off.
Doing the dishes makes such a difference! I find that occasionally I decide I won't bother. But then I go into the kitchen and think to myself that it will only take a few minutes. When it's done it always starts the day right when I come down the next morning and the kitchen is clean and tidy.
Thank you for reminding me of the why’s and purpose for all the work I’m doing in the home. I needed to hear this and I’ll probably listen to this every time I feel stuck. Keep screaming this from the rooftops!
Been for real for real decluttering the past couple weeks--and I've lost 4 lbs without trying! And my family is so much happier 😊 Looking over the past few weeks I've had so much fun decluttering that I haven't "had to" stress eat, and yes I am still having holiday treats but no desire to overindulge. I didn't even realize how much stress my environment was causing for everyone, not just me. I was nervous about doing my 6 yr olds bedroom because he's attached to everything when he sees it. But I'm very aware of his favorite things and was able to showcase them in the decor, organize all the hands on toys, crafts and books. When he got home, he was delighted! He thought I bought a bunch of new books (they were just in a clutter pile before), he started playing cheerfully immediately and the whole time he kept saying "oh, you found this! Thank you!". He didnt even notice anything was missing!Rewarding beyond belief! And now that everything has a place, it is easy for my new non negotiable --he cleans up current activity before starting the next. And he loves it and doesn't even argue because I've made it just as easy to put away as it is to get out. This channel saved my life! Thank you!!!!!!
Cleaning & keeping a tidy home is also a 'Teaching' opportunity for our kids & grandkids. If we want them to be independent & self sufficient adults, we need to lead the way. With Christmas on our heels, do a "Toys Edit' before the next round of them come in. A great time to donate and have a dialogue with your kids about looking out for others. Thank you for all your inspiration.
The best thing I've taken from what I've heard you say.... "Don't you dare leave those dirty dishes for future Kerri to have to deal with when she wakes up!"
Thanks for the pep talk. U cleaned out my pantry and all shelves in my kitchen. NOW. Listen to yourself. Get on the treadmill for 15 minutes. Stop procrastinating. You deserve to feel better for yourself. No immediate results but you will feel better physically and mentally. Just do it. Love your videos.
You got to the heart of this today...I'm crying... terrified but inspired. I cant adequately express the gratitude I feel for your kind and encouraging words, thank you 💗💝
Cass you are absolutely beautiful my friend!! I'm 50 now and my kids are grown and it's been a very difficult season in my life. I've spent most of my life feeling so broken and my kids were my motivation to "just do it" and for years I did. However, when I lost my mom, broke up with Satan and was stuck in my head, my house began matching my heart. Of course, then I felt stuck. And if my house was a mess I'd keep pushing people away. I just said to my daughter, at one point in our lives, we realize NO ONES COMING TO SAVE US. You just have to be your own damn HERO!! AND HERE YOU SAY THE SAME THING!! YOU ROCK!
I told myself to work on a big pile of clutter in my office (collected from several other rooms, not the right process maybe) while listening. When you said, "It's harder to catch up than to keep up", I immediately wrote it down and have it posted by my computer as a reminder to do little things daily so I don't get overwhelmed. (as is my habit) I cannot believe the dent I've made in the pile!!! I have 2 bags of garbage to take out and 2 boxes for donation. I'm also finding it easier to let things go like the excessive amount of office supplies I've been hoarding. Thank you so much!!! Now I"m going to find another video of yours that I haven't listened to yet! 💜
I went to my sister's for Thanksgiving and stayed overnight. First Thanksgiving after separation from my husband. Two things from your podcast: my house is a mess, BUT, before I went to my sister's, I cleaned my kitchen (pretty well for me) so when I got home I came home to a clean sink and relatively clean counters. It really did make me feel good! Granted, the dining room and living room are a complete disaster, BUT I get it. The other thing is that I mentioned to my sister that you said to donate used blankets and towels to a pet shelter. I don't have a dog, but my sister lost her dog so she sent me home with some doggie bowls and leashes for when I go to the shelter. Thanks for your wisdom. 😊
I love these pep talks from you. You’ve completely flipped a switch in my brain and I’ve been in a decluttering frenzy since I found your channel. I feel like I can breathe for the first time in months. Thank you so much for helping me and hundreds of thousands of others ❤
I have been following you for so many years. I always start but never finish and it brings my confidence down even more. I invested in your live cleaning sessions and again never fully followed through-Of all your videos this is the first one that literally made me cry. I’m starting again today and pray I can finish what I can start. Thanks so much for all your videos- so relatable and so inspiring.
7:01 LOVE the insight that decluttering is one of the few things where you can see results in minutes (AND be reminded of them when you walk back in the room)! ❤🤓 23:03 A version of this for exercise and other habits is using a timeline with images of the goal you're working towards. Every time you color in a section of the timeline, you can SEE you're moving closer to your goal. ⭐😃⭐
I’m going to start with podcast number ONE and work my way through as I clean! I’m taking my house back! I’m also a member of that group. LOL. Thanks sweet lady. Needed this today. First a shower and then on to cleaning the house!
I am finding it so motivating to have your videos going in the background while I’m going through my bins of winter clothes or my kitchen cabinets etc etc . It’s like having my very own cheer leader spurring me on to the finish line of reclaiming my house . Lots of things had to be neglected during these last 7 years that I had the privilege and honor of being my 88 yr old daddy’s full time caregiver, but now that daddy’s dementia has gotten so advanced he requires 24 hr care so he is now living in an Alzheimer’s unit about 5 minutes from my house and is doing very well. So after 4-5 weeks of recovering physically and mentally, I am ready to catch things up and even start cooking homemade meals again ( to my husband’s delight and shock). Thank you for your kind advice and support 🙂 12:08
Yesterday . Kitchen items bothered me. I removed them from the cabinet. Today I opened the cabinet door n shocked myself! 🎉🎉 found I’d put new up in place. .. cleared out 3/4 of a 10x12 room. Gonna do dishes while I listen . Thanks to all who Declutter, & I can join in to do my home. ❤❤❤❤
Love this Cas! About 18 months ago - started with a 12 min tidy routine each morning. Slowly added more & now do a 40 min - wow what a difference it makes for my home! (In addition to decluttering) Love listening to you ~ Thanks for all you do! 💞
Cas, I love how real you are on your podcasts. You are so encouraging and honest. I've noticed the growth in you over the past couple of years that I've been following you, particularly around self-awareness. This podcast really spoke to me about how the condition of my home is affecting my mental state and productivity. I am encouraged to take small steps each day to either let go of items that no longer serve me. Thank you for sharing.
I was suffering from severe depression due to new onset of seizures while I had Covid. It took almost 3.5 years to get on the correct meds to control the seizures and it has given me my life back, my depression is gone. I thought I was hiding it but since I’ve gotten better everyone in my family has said I’m so happy you are back, you were scarring us. My Dr even said wow you look so much better than you did a month ago. I feel fabulous. I’ve said all of that to say for 3.5 years I didn’t clean or organize as anything, my house was gross but I couldn’t get out of bed most days. I used to clean daily, dust at least 1 room a day, vacuum daily and of course all the normal day to day stuff. Now I’m hardly ever in my bed, which isn’t good for my seizures bc exhaustion makes me have more. But I want to clean and organize all of the time. I still have a lot to go but I’m working on it.
Thank you so much for the pep talk. Mom used to call it cheerleading! You encouraged me so much. You got me moving when i couldn't get me moving Thanks again
Yes I care about my house. I have a young son and I work a full time job..we have a small place and we like our stuff..but I get so overwhelmed and then I get depressed I try to be as clean as I can..
I highly recommend this mantra that I heard a guy say. "This is simple. This is easy. This is fun." When I get overwhelmed, this makes me laugh and I actually do stuff. The result is that I like the results!
Great Video Cass I think 🤔 the study is called self perception theory- we believe who we are from watching what we do. We perceive that we are able to be in control with taking control of one part of our lives- which trickles over to the rest of our lives.
Thank you again and again dearest Cass❣️During listening to your podcast I got up and cleaned 2 things in our kitchen cabinets that irritated me for some weeks now. Only 2 black stripes are gone - still I jump of joy💃 Yes, Cass, you are my Top motivator of all times! Sending you heaps of love and tulip 🌷 greetings from the Netherlands together with a BIG HUG 🤗
I was feeling really down, and I put away a bunch of laundry and tidied my "hang out:/office for most of the time you were talking. A huge difference! Thank you!
Finally cleaned out my top drawer…purged items and organized the contents….while I listened. Thank you for the motivation and permission to do this baby steps. Feels awesome.
can't wait to watch this. just got back from a walk to the library where i donated an armful of books for the library book sale, books i know i won't read again so don't feel the need to keep them on my shelves 🤗
Hi, I'm from Europe and there keeping home tidy and fresh is a matter of personal culture. Your culture demands from you to upgrade your home and make it desirable to leave and enjoy it in all aspects of life. I do like your podcasts. Bravo!
The control thing is the same for me. If I have my home in order, I'm a lot more likely to eat well, make sound financial decisions, etc. It's definitely a thing!!
I relate to this so much. I'm saving this to my home screen and whenever I have those beginning thoughts that snowball to depression and anxiety, I'm putting this on. Because I do care, I know I love stability control and I love how I feel when I move. Thank you for this Cas, it feels like a personal message to me. I need to feel proud of myself. And I'm also very proud of you and think you do a wonderful job 👍😁
Cas, you have gotten into my head, and I thank you for that. I found you only a couple of weeks ago, but you have helped me make such a massive improvement in my house, and like you said, my pride level is through the roof. I have decluttered a car load so far, even got through my husbands 3 drawers of T-shirts (with his help, of course). I am starting to look around my house with new eyes, at everything, going, okay what can i do next. I am almost out of things to do, and my house is spotless. I have found myself looking for things I have moved a few times, so I just relocate that item to where I looked for it first. Thank you for caring so much about organization.
Cas you are SUCH A BLESSING❤. Thank you so much for being awesomely YOU!!!! I’ve followed you for years now, bought your books 3-4 years ago & you helped improve my home SO much over the years via your videos & your books, I just love your heart, style & zeal for life & you care! Thank you! On Saturday I major decluttered a closet then tackled my bedroom which had my desk in there & I had files, boxes & a few boxes of misc. It took me all day Sunday but by time I went to bed I felt so free, lighter & my bedroom looks & feels HUGE😂 lol I went from not knowing where to put everything to touching each item & deciding if I liked it, needed it or wanted to donate it or pitch. If something was broken I pitched it. I only moved office items to new office that are to live in the office. I’m sick of shuffling clutter. I threw away several bags of clutter trash & donated 2 boxes & a bag of books, blanket, wreath frame etc to thrift shop yesterday & it felt SO Good!!!!! My 4 day push of declutter is now inspiring my boys to clean ‘ declutter their bedroom 😊. They cleared their desk, sorted legos etc. (they are 15 & 10). It definitely is positive influence. I still have my clothes closet & laundry room & one more closet to knock out but I’m SO happy with the progress I’ve made & it creates momentum to do the next thing. Thanks again sweet lady for changing lives & improving our homes❤❤❤. You rock 🎉🎉🎉🎉. (((Hugs))) from Gettysburg, PA
Decluttering is definitely the best thing I've done for my house! 1) when I already have less, I buy less, so less money spent and, 2) my cleaning routine is soooo easy now that, even though I threw out my back almost 3 weeks ago, first my friend came over after first week that I couldn't do ANYTHING and she omg ur apartment is a mess...but she got it but into almost completely back to normal for me in ONLY 20 minutes!!!! Then the second week I was a bit better so able to do daily dishes in/out of dishwasher now (my dirty dishes & my Amazon staples shopping, kitty litter, food, etc all happened to come THAT week lol were all on the floor piled next to front door had made my place LOOK a total mess, but that she could put it back together again so fast, just by putting little & food away, doing dishes, it really wasn't very bad after all bc I maintain it so well normally!) AND bc it's soooo easy to maintain, I can even clean my bathroom again, took out my trash & recycling, & threw in a laundry all yesterday on my normal Monday cleaning day! Even with my back thrown-out as it is still!!! And I'm still doing my dishes daily now and even still picking up 1 thing here, another there to organize as my day goes whenever I get out of bed to stretch my back!!! Believe me everyone, once you get decluttered, it'll be sooooo much easier to maintain, even if you get sick or injured!!! You'll be HAPPY to do a few minutes everyday so it doesn't pile up on you ever again!!!! Cas, I love you to keep the motivation going!!!!
Wow, I didn’t expect the message to be so powerful- especially towards the end. I’m a little scared of the journey ahead, but I’m really looking forward to it, too.
I was already working on a four-day holiday backlog of dirty dishes and laundry and generally picking things up while listening to TH-cam videos when this one came up next on my notifications list. I feel a lot less grumpy about having to wash things I've washed before and will have to wash again.
Oh my god.... I am Soo thankful to you. I have to do a lot of job before I have tidy and clean home, but I'm ready for it, and I'll manage it. I'll win my house. That's the only truth..... when my house is not clean, I feel myself uncomfortable, sad and I have no energy... I'm giving a month to myself for winning my home back. Why a month? Cos I'm a mom of 3 little kids who also works and I have to manage it all by myself. Soooo. Let the war started.
Cas, thank you so much for making this normalized. I always thought I was such a terrible person to have clutter and mess. You have helped me so much. Everything you said here is true for me.
Discipline is a muscle, you train everyday when cleaning and organising, then you are trained to do other tasks that require the same skills 9:15 Maybe that's how that happens
I always find your videos inspirational & have recently started to employ daily declutterring quite randomly but I have been struggling with my kitchen for a while. Last weekend I had an impulse to move the freestanding items in my kitchen which also involved declutterring my unused appliances & cleaning the ones I wanted to keep. I also needed to prepare a pumpkin for my cats food which took way longer than I expected. So now my kitchen is upside down. However because I has created a better place in the beginning I have kept going & just now feel excited to finish the whole kitchen no matter how long it takes, I think this has worked for me because I saw a big difference quickly. I realise it may seem a backwards way of doing things but it worked for me & was inspired by your really useful info. Thank you sooo much. ❤
This was such a good video. Having my space under control does help me take control of other spaces. Not to mention the peace I feel going to bed in a clean and organized space is amazing. Thank you for reassuring all the thoughts I already had about cleaning
I got so much done yesterday just listening to your podcast. Just what I needed. I’m so excited to get back to it after work today. Thanks for this! Xx
Thank you, this morning your words really spoke to me. I raced a clean before Thanksgiving and I’m taking advantage of what’s tidy and easily reset while listening to you.
I'll be part of your study that proves when you "get control of your house you get control of other areas of your life" ...not only did I massively declutter my home and simplify, I also stopped drinking and have gotten control of my weight and finally tackled my credit card debt!
Wow!! You are an incredible example. Congratulations
Congratulations. Keep it up.
This is awesome! So proud of you! I want to do it but I’m afraid 😢not sure where to start
"Tidying and cleaning your house is medicine for your mental health." I love this!
This podcast felt like a reassuring hug. ❤ Thank you.
❤🎉I learned having a Clean & Tidy Home 🏡 from my Grandma 👵 Thank 😊 🙏 ❤You ❤Grandma 👵 ❤️❤
What did you do??
@@Whatworksthisworks I stopped blaming myself if I couldn't keep it tidy and realised I needed to declutter more! I was ill and realised I needed a longer term solution. If interested in details happy to chat but that's the short answer.
@@JoanneWhitlock I love this!!!!
I KNOW right? I LOVE getting up everyday to a clean house! Or getting home from being out somewhere to a clean place!!!! :)
That sounds so impossible to me! I can't seem to get there!
Thank you isn’t enough to say. You add so much value to my life. Thank you. I didn’t learn these things as a child. At 51 yrs old, I’m starting to understand.
You said something that I think we all know but don’t consider often enough. “It’s harder to catch up than to keep up.”
Very well stated, CAs.
That is me, caring for my mom and sister and working full time😮
@@priscillaanderson2949 my daughter retired me from being secretary for our family owned carpet cleaning company because she saw I was going to have my hands full with my daddy and my chronically ill 74 yr old husband .
I love love that you break things down to small wins and you give it straight. Nothing changes if nothing changes - you inspire me.
I am a stay at home dad who Homeschools the kids, cleans, does the home maintenance, cooks, etc. And I am so overwhelmed most of the time. As a man I feel like such a loser that I don’t have a real job and I can’t even keep up with my home. I’ve gotta get this under control.
You can do it, Dad!😊
Kudos! I did that. It was overwhelming. Don't get down. Be so proud of what you're doing for those kids. You are important and valuable.
Thank you! This means so much to me.
Agreed! Love Cass❤
How true....
I kept wondering...."why is my spending on craft supplies so OUT OF CONTROL?!?"
One day, about 2 months ago, I walked into my crafting space/garage....and, I realized...."the rest of the house looks pretty good....this space....uh!!😢"
Though I didn't feel I needed to take the time in this, "busy for everybody" season....I felt a MORE OVERWHELMING desire to declutter this area once again.
Did I mention that I had just done this very thing 6 months ago?
Sooooo, I got to work....worked hard.... I've done decluttering many times....so, I felt I could PUSH myself without giving up.
There were times....I was feeling the weight of the messy middle...but, made myself go out there almost EVERY SINGLE DAY, and work on it
I went thru almost EVERYTHING.
One thing I did not go thru...(.I pretty much keep up on this area) ...cleaning supplies.
(And, I was at the end...and so was my energy level at this point.)
I finished decluttering out in this space...18 bags of trash....
I can tell that this action WORKED!😂
IT'S SO WORTH IT!
THANKS CASS: YOU ARE A GEM!
WE APPRECIATE YOU!! ❤
How can this podcast be so calming and yet so motivating!
I wish my mother had been able to say these things to me. Or anyone for that material. I'm 66 and have been trying to live better for all of those years. So much so that I have stress related heart disease. I can see the end from here. I CAN do this. Thank you is not enough.
this talk was amazing! 💗
Thank you so much❤
I’m a 30 year old male and you truly gotten through to me more than any of the other male driven podcasts about self care. Thank you 😀
I came from a clean home. It was just a natural thing for me to do. I love having a clean and organized home.
You did so much! Be proud! I hope you feel better soon.
Wow!! Good job!!! 😳👏🏼🥳
I did realize this lately.
That's how I found this channel 😊
It really is a catch-22. Our depression physically manifestes itself onto our environment (bc we don't want to get up to clean the house, or pick up after ourselves throughout the day, etc) which just gets worse bc AS it gets worse each day, the longer it goes on we start to feel like 'why even bother? Everything is a disaster anyway ' (whether consciously or subconsciously thinking this).
Then that physical manifestion makes us even MORE depressed living in such a messy, dirty, cluttered (sometimes hoarder looking to ourselves) of piles of mess everywhere (bc remember that a depressed mind usually sees the worse case scenario so even if it's not the true level of the Hoarders TV show, it would look like it to our depression brains!)
So then we don't want to have friends over anymore, we don't even want to bother trying anymore bc 'it's already beyond hope (classic depression brains are frequently catastrophizing!)
Which as you can see, is the entire this just snowballing to make us feel worse, so the horse gets worse, which makes us feel EVEN worse, the house just continues to get worse...and on n on n on!!! :(
I definitely happened to me and I can tell you all that there is a cleanup at the end of the tunnel!
I'll off my cheerleading services to anyone who wants to post photos (I totally understand if you don't want to post before photos online) but DURING photos, of maybe the trash at your curb?
Or the 'free stuff' at the curb (if you decide to get rid of stuff that way)
Or your car getting/the full trolley at the donation center, another idea of a photo op!!!
And post them, and I'll cheer you on personally!!! Or choose a person in your life who will ONLY be positive for you during this transition to be your cheerleader, like I did!!!
I asked my sister to be my cheerleader while I was doing as much as I physically could in little 5-7 minutes increments (I'm disabled & there was definitely muscle atrophy:(
& would text her photos (while she was insanely busy trying to finish up her contract so she would have time to drive to CA to move my personal items to TX) but she STILL made the time to cheer me on! (bc ANY amount that I got done that month was work she didn't need to do in the 7 days between contracted jobs in OREGON!)
AND IT WAS AMAZING just how much I DID GET DONE during that month!!!!
❤Deligate to Family❤
This is so accurate
I have decluttered twice before
But THIS time I am getting aggressive.
This is your strongest message yet. AMEN!!!
WAY TO GO MOM!
Outer order gives inner calm...at least for me. I have so much time for fun now ❤ you Cass.
Thank you for the pep talk, Cas. Yes, I want to be the hero and not the victim from now on! 😁💗
You are amazing, thank you❤😊
Cass this podcast was powerful! One of your best. Thanks so much!❤
Thank you always for the kick in the pants! You tell it like it is. Gets me going to do something every time.
I have to keep watching this video over and over again. It's my reminder for why I should care. I'm working on it! Thanks for the motivation!
😊
Thank you so much for the tough love ...that talk was needed!😊
Hey Cass, Cleaning is exercise!
“The Power of Habit”
Explains how control in one area of your life can improve other areas.
100%! It matters because you live there and how you feel in your home, where you spend a majority of your time, absolutely matters.
Looks like you gave in to the reading glasses....welcome to the club!
I’m going to start with podcast number ONE and work my way through as I clean! I’m taking my house back! I’m also a member of that group. LOL. Thanks sweet lady. Needed this today. First a shower and then on to cleaning the house!
Love it! I like to listen to your podcast when folding clothes and loading dishwasher. It's so motivating
I love your calm, encouraging voice...
Girl Bossin! 💯 FACTS. Preach it to the rafters. Keeping up NOT catching up.
Thank you for letting me borrow the motivation today! This was a wonderful podcast - very encouraging!!!
Thank you so much for the pep talk. Mom used to call it cheerleading! You encouraged me so much.
You got me moving when i couldn't get me moving
Thanks again
Great message!
Yes I care about my house.
I have a young son and I work a full time job..we have a small place and we like our stuff..but I get so overwhelmed and then I get depressed I try to be as clean as I can..
I highly recommend this mantra that I heard a guy say.
"This is simple. This is easy. This is fun."
When I get overwhelmed, this makes me laugh and I actually do stuff. The result is that I like the results!
Great Video Cass
I think 🤔 the study is called self perception theory- we believe who we are from watching what we do.
Thank you!
You honestly have helped me with all the struggles you speak of. Thank you for making me feel better and normal… ❤
I always listen to your podcast while doing house chores... It gives me more motivation... Thank you, Cas!!
Such a sweetheart! Love the speaking and how she lights up a day!
Thank you Cass, your content and advice have changed my life for the better. ❤
❤❤❤
Hi, I'm from Europe and there keeping home tidy and fresh is a matter of personal culture. Your culture demands from you to upgrade your home and make it desirable to leave and enjoy it in all aspects of life. I do like your podcasts. Bravo!
I love how you shut down our VICTIM MENTALITY!
You rock Clutterbug. Love listening to you! All your words sooo speak to me. Thank you! Wishing you all the very best. ❤️
Today , I do laundry 1 load every week n half. I decluttered. So much.
Just finished 53’ container. 2 years.
"I'm girl bossing all day" 🎉❤❤❤That is so awesome!!! You are inspiring and making my life better . Thank you!!!
Just love you so much Cas ❤
Decluttering is definitely the best thing I've done for my house!
1) when I already have less, I buy less, so less money spent and,
2) my cleaning routine is soooo easy now that, even though I threw out my back almost 3 weeks ago, first my friend came over after first week that I couldn't do ANYTHING and she omg ur apartment is a mess...but she got it but into almost completely back to normal for me in ONLY 20 minutes!!!! Then the second week I was a bit better so able to do daily dishes in/out of dishwasher now (my dirty dishes & my Amazon staples shopping, kitty litter, food, etc all happened to come THAT week lol were all on the floor piled next to front door had made my place LOOK a total mess, but that she could put it back together again so fast, just by putting little & food away, doing dishes, it really wasn't very bad after all bc I maintain it so well normally!)
AND bc it's soooo easy to maintain, I can even clean my bathroom again, took out my trash & recycling, & threw in a laundry all yesterday on my normal Monday cleaning day!
TY Cas for caring
❤It matters to Keep it CLEAN !😁😁😁
U might be "yelling" at us, but ur doing gently & in a very caring manner which I thank u sooo very much for 😳😳 love'n'hugs & thanx Cas ♥️😘🫂💕
Your ABSOLUTE BEST VIDEO!!! ❤❤❤ So frickin’ grateful for this one!!
