🇵🇱 Zamieszkiwany przez ok. 28 tys. osób Strausberg położony jest na wschód od Berlina, nad jeziorem Straussee. Historyczne Altstadt leży na północy, zaś pozostałe dzielnice to zabudowa jednorodzinna i niewysokie bloki. Tereny zurbanizowane nie są rozległe, ze względu na bardzo wąskie i ciasne usytuowanie miasta wśród lasów.
Przez najwęższą część miasta, w otoczeniu lasu przebiega linia tramwajowa 89, spadkobierczyni dawnej kolei. Linię otwarto w 1893 roku jako tzw. Kleinbahn, obsługiwany trakcją parową, z Vorstadt do stacji Strausberg Stadt. Ta ostatnia stacja, wraz z lokomotywownią znajdowała się przy Walkmühlenstr., w miejscu dzisiejszej zajezdni. Pierwotnie trasa biegła nieco "z tyłu" miasta, więc w 1921 zbudowano odnogę od Hegermühle przez Berliner Str. Jednocześnie zelektryfikowano całą trasę, a nowy odcinek dał początek istniejącej do dziś linii tramwajowej. W 1926 linię wydłużono do Marktplatz i dalej do Domu Młodzieży przy Badstr., lecz w 1970 odcinek ten zamknięto.
Przez lata linia stopniowo traciła kolejowy charakter, a zarówno torowisko, jak i tabor są dziś unowocześnione. Strausberger Eisenbahn współcześnie posiada 4 wagony, z czego 2 to Bombardiery Flexity typu berlińskiego. Pozostałe 2 tramwaje to kultowe Tatry: egzotyczna jak na Niemcy KT8D5 i prototypowa, jedyna na świecie T6C5.
🇬🇧 Inhabited by approx. 28 thousand people people Strausberg is located east of Berlin, by the Straussee lake. The historic Altstadt lies in the north, while in the other districts there are single-family houses and rather low blocks. The urban area is not very extensive due to the very narrow and tight location of the city among the forests.
Tram line 89, originally built as a railway, runs through the narrowest part of the city, just by the forest. The route was opened in 1893 as the so-called Kleinbahn, served by steam trains, from Vorstadt to Strausberg Stadt station. The station with a locomotive hall was located at Walkmühlenstr., in the place of today's tram depot. The original route ran rather "behind" the town, so in 1921 a branch was built from Hegermühle through Berliner Str. At the same time, the entire route was electrified, and the new section marked the beginning of today's tram line. In 1926 the line was extended to Marktplatz and further to the Youth House on Badstr., but in 1970 this section was closed.
Over the years, the line gradually lost its railway character, and both the tracks and the rolling stock are modernized today. Strausberger Eisenbahn currently has 4 trams, 2 of which are Bombardier Flexity type Berlin. The remaining two cars are the iconic Tatras: rather unusual for Germany KT8D5, and the unique prototype of T6C5.

Czyli tramwaj jeździ zamiast pociągów tak?

Nie do końca, pociągi jeździły tutaj pierwotnie jako tzw. Kleinbahn, czyli mała kolejka lokalna, w czasach przedwojennych. Następnie linia ewoluowała do charakteru bardziej tramwajowego, a po II Wojnie Światowej do początku lat 2000 utrzymywano jednocześnie ruch tramwajowy i sporadycznie kolejowy, ale tylko w zakresie towarów. Po zawieszeniu ruchu towarowego, pozostały tylko tramwaje, a dawna infrastruktura kolejowa została rozebrana. To tak w wielkim skrócie 😀
