I barely see youtube characters share these amazing passages of life, I'm glad you chose Peru, I heard there's very few attention from the mayor cities towards the poorest regions. Very remarkable things you do on helping the less fortunate will last with you your whole life. Wish you the best! and keep on uploading that amazing experience.
Brace yourself for all of the feels while you are away. It changes you more than you could ever guess. I started a similar (veterinary journey) over a year ago but couldn't bring myself to end it. Enjoy and have a blast!
OMG!! I'm Peruvian and when I saw the tittle I died of emotion!! You have to visit Barranco, Lima there is "Puente de los suspiros" that means "Bridge of sighs" in English it's a beautiful place and of course you have to try Peruvian food like "ceviche" and "causa rellena". Oooh something else three words in Spanish "Hola" = Hi, "Adios"= Bye and "Gracias"= Thank you and if you like the food you have to say "Rico" = Delicious Jajaja. Wish you luck and have fun!!

I am sad to say that I've never seen anyone from America so excited to travel to a South American country, and it made me think it would never happen. But I'm so freaking happy to have found this video proving me wrong. Seeing the happiness in your face while you talk about you moving to Peru filled my heart absolutely. This makes me so happy! I'm from Argentina, and I see people from developed countries, or even South America countries, underestimating this beautiful places. Because, yes, there's shitty people in this places, but there's everywhere! Here we have such incredible and beautiful landscapes, so I'm glad and shocked to see this reaction of you!

I'm from Peru and I can definitely tell you I guarantee you'll get some great footage! It's beautiful there, especially in the Andean region. I've been there and it's gorgeous! The people are so sweet too! While you're there, you should check out Machu Picchu, the llamas are pretty cool. Oh and the view of course is amazing haha have fun!!

What an awesome opportunity! I went to Peru on a mission trip a few years ago in Pisac (sacred valley area) and while i was there we got to try guinea pig, which i know may sound mean and/or strange but its a once in a lifetime opportunity (much like this internship) and if given the chance you shouldn't pass it up! :D
Thats a thing i would also do to help people ,theres sooooo many people that need medicine ,water and other stuff and we can always try to do something for them .♥️

That's a really cool internship and medlife is doing great work here in Peru. Let me know if you need anything while you are here! Peru can be challenging and what you'll see will probably have a big impact on you, but we keep our hopes up for a better future and I hope you do too after your stay.

This sounds really cool! I have been to Lima many times growing up because I have family there. Honestly I've traveled a lot and Peruvian food is still my favorite. Hope you enjoy your experience over there, I'm sure you will though :)
Hi Matthew! That's really exciting news. Where in Lima are you going to be? Each district is different, but, generally speaking, public safety is kind of a big issue that we have right now, so please be really careful. If there's anything you need, just ask, I think there are many Peruvians here that will be willing to help you and give you some tips about living here. One piece of advice: come with an open mind for trying different types of food. Our cuisine is perhaps the best thing we can offer, so do your best for trying it all. How strange to think that I could actually cross paths with Matthew in the next months! Good luck :)

Oh cool, you mentioned Lima on Twitter, but I didn't know you were going to the Andes. I've been to Peru twice, and have spent time in Lima, Huancayo, Ayacucho, Cusco, and Puno. And yes, there is Starbucks in Lima (near El Ovalo in Miraflores), but if you find yourself in Cusco you have to try this cafe called Al Grano. They charge American prices for coffee, but it's the only really good coffee I managed to find in Peru, since most of the really good beans are exported. Aside from that, once you get up into the Andes, they pretty much just have instant coffee, or they bring you a cup of hot water and a pitcher of coffee extract. Be careful, because sometimes they just heat the water in a microwave instead of boiling it, and that's how I got sick the first time.
isnerdy I'll have to be pretty careful of the water, but I'm already convinced that I'll deal my fair share of sickness as I adjust to the new place! It's okay, I would much rather try the coffee locals drink than more Starbucks anyway. :)
Hope you have an awesome adventure, be aware some areas are not gay friendly, and make sure your medical insurance covers you while you are out of the country. Not trying to scare you but make sure you are covered. Best wishes for a safe trip !

Matthew, this is noble work and is honorable but I'd like to know how you feel about America's poor and their lack of healthcare and opportunity? I feel like a lot of people go to all these other countries but forget our own people, many of whom are veterans and living under bridges or worse. Just wondered your thoughts on this?
