I was finding myself frustrated with the selections of curtains as well the other day. I also filtered by base game only and was shocked all over again by how tiny the selection of anything was before expansions.
I have the tiniest garden and every year I try to make sure I plant some flowers along with the veggies I grow for myself/for fun. It's not a lot because my garden is basically the size of a bedroom but I know about the bee situation and I am doing what I can, when all I had was a balcony I still put flower boxes on the railing. Save the bees guys! Every little flower counts🌺🐝
So, about the winterfest tree placeholder idea .. in my actual house, we usually just put an armchair from the living room into a different room (which then is very hard to use due to cramming the little space) in order to make space for the christmas tree. But i think for big houses your idea makes perfect sense. I guess i am still thinking in lower class/small house person terms when building in the Sims 😅

Big open gardens with nothing in them but grass has long been a cultural sign of wealth. Not having to grow all your own vegetables, fruits and herbs meant wealth. That's why we still have them.

21:20 leaving school at 4:00pm (16:00hc) sounds amazing! In America most schools leave at 2:00pm (14:00hc) so we have to go be at school by 7:00am which is grueling for teenagers sleep cycle. Going to school by 9 o'clock (assumingly, I don't know The UK's school hours) will give high school students much more time to sleep and get ready for school. I wish the US had those hours, but the government won't consider it because "it works betters with working hours." I wish the US cared more about student mental health. Anyways, sorry for the rant.
Depending on where you are, there are likely native, shade tolerant groundcovers that will be just as beneficial, if not moreso. Some of our pollinator friends rely on trees for their food and nesting areas, so you're still doing a lot of good with those :)

I downloaded a lil simsie “renovated” house and I only did it for the shell. Everything else was deleted, even the floor plan.

We had multiple lavender plants which al died bc we have too many trees in our yard, so they didn’t get enough direct sunlight. Rip.
