Yep, Yota1 makes solid engines. No doubt anyone doing a 22RE Swap will benefit from this series. It was really cool being able to shoot this video at Nick's shop and have Nick be the lead guy. It was a great learning experience. Thanks for the comment.
This 3 part series is awesome, I used it as a guide for my engine replacement. There is so much extra info on replacing little gaskets, bearings, bolts, etc. along the way and I ended up buying specialty parts like hoses and gaskets from Yota1 that no one else carries ❤
Watched all three videos and was convinced, YOTA 1 gets to rebuild my engine! I took it to them yesterday! I really appreciate these videos! Thank you thank you thank you!

I learned a lot doing this swap with Nick. He was a wealth of knowledge. He knows the 22RE engine in and out very well because he's been rebuilding them and working on them for a long time. I'm stoked we partnered with him to make this video series.
Yes @@TimmyTheToolman Super glad to see the channel grow Timmy... Been here since I bought my 1st 3.4 V6 Tacoma a few years ago... I just bought another TRD Tacoma this time 4WD for more sic mods!!
Thanks. Not many people are willing to document engine swaps like we do. We do it as a tutorial that people can actually follow and complete the job. Most do it as a highlight reel which is more about entertainment than instruction.
Timmy, do you know where is the best place to buy all air hoses and coolant hoses as 1 package, maybe with clamps? I have this Toyota Dolphin 1987 only with 40000miles and still running, was sitting under roof for 10 years. Just started it again and want to tune up and change possible all rubber hoses and such. Thank you for this videos. Best ever!!
You can check with Yota1 Performance. They might have a kit available. Other than that, I wouldn't know who to suggest for a comprehensive kit to buy. Usually you just buy them separately from a dealership or online parts seller.
@Timmy The Toolman i need advice i used scotch brite hand scrubber to clean my cylinder walls and pistons with wd 40 is it going to kill the motor i read its horrible and will get in the bearings and crank and destroy the engine, i wiped most of it off but some residue i think is in the piston rings and cylinder walls
@chefrobertcaldas I'm not an engine rebuilder so I don't know the effects WD40 could have on it. Maybe run it briefly after you get it back together and do an immediate oil change. Then run the engine a little longer, not driving, but maybe idle to operating temp and change the oil again. But, maybe call Yota1 Performance and ask their advice.
@@TimmyTheToolman great thank you for the help! My headgaskets blew at 210k, i figured i’d just replace the engine because of how old it is, and your engine replacement series has been a savior. 🙏🙏

Hey Timmy looking for a bed mat template for my 2000 tacoma extra cab. I have had Dee Zee fit bed mat on order since February 2nd and finally got tired of them pushing the ship dates out so I went and bought 5x7 foot 1/2 square bed mat. I want to find a template to use that will fit the wheel wells etc. any idea where I can got something like this? I have searched the web, asked the dealer and so far no luck. Any suggestions?do u have a video for that?
Nope. We're not a hardware store. We're a DIY Toyota/Lexus Automotive TH-cam Channel. I bet Fastenal could sell you the bolts you need. If not, I'd try an ACE Hardware. They generally have a nice complete selection of metric bolts. Like Nick says near the end of this video, you need bolts that are: *2.5" Long *Size: M12 *Thread Pitch: 1.25 *Probably have some M12 washers just in case you need to take up some space so you're not bottoming out the bolt and cracking the block casting.
How nice it would have been to have a shop for this job with a lift :). I pulled the 22re from my 86 in a condo car port, rebuilt it in my back yard, and dropped it back in all while dodging the HOA nazis 😂. I’ve since acquired a place with a garage so luckily wont ever have to deal with a situation like that again. Fun stuff though I’ve just about rebuilt everything mechanically and next will be a little body work and paint. It’s been a fun project

Don't know. The engine hoists come with a chain.
Can a 22re be used as a 22r ? Like instead of putting the fuel injected intake just put the carburated intake?
Yes, you could.

If it's a hardware store that's well stocked with metric bolts, you can probably find them. A place like Home Depot, good luck.
