Nice vid, had never thought of riding out there. Seemed like virtually no cars or traffic lights? Could you do your FTP test out there or too many corners?
Great Vid. Clearly, the Emonda is the preferred bike over the Madone. I really think Trek made the wrong move dropping it from their line-up. For me the Emonda is better all-round bike. While the Madone is perhaps more aero in configuration it’s still heavier. I bet when it comes to doing 3 Peaks the Emonda will be the go to choice, as it’s lighter and with over 4,000 metres of vert it will prove faster. Great work out there. You were really fanging it around that circuit. Great metrics too.
Thanks! The telemetry is a bit of work to edit and set up but I think it’s valuable for the viewer. Yep anyone can join. 8pm from Olympic Bvld infront of Accor Stadium. The event is organised by CCGS (Casual Cycling Group Sydney) you can find them on Facebook and they organise everything there.
I'm in envy, here in eastern europe it is winter and I can't ride my bike. It seems like a nice, competitive ride, you did good out there. I hope some spring weather arrives soon because I'm going crazy. I don't like indoor riding and I'm mainly a runner so I can do that at least.
Thanks mate! I use a program called Telemetry Overlay. Basically you need to sync the data from the bike to the footage. It’s a bit of work but the result is cool. Hope you enjoyed!
Wheels were great, due to the shape of the course a good chunk of it is crosswind. The wheels handled it well, were light and responsive and had good power transfer. In terms of comfort I’ll have to test them a bit more to get a true sense.
@@joshkwan For the peaks its all power to weight so a good sprint not really good training but what the hell you cant be a wheel sucker on ride like that.😂
Hey mate, go check out Casual Cycling Group Sydney (CCGS) on Facebook. They organise the ride. Starts at 8pm at Olympic Blvd outside Accor Stadium. Most people turn up at 7:30pm to warm up. There’s usually 4 groups of various speeds which roll out.
You're suppose to put the liquid wax on hours before (if not the day prior) you ride so that it has time to harden and sticks to the chain. You don't use it like an oil lube.
Riding along on my trainer in Canada….outside windchill is -23. And I find it crazy that people wear dark colours when riding at night. You should invest in a bike carrier! Lol.
Yea I agree it’s best to wear something a bit more visible. The law in my state is that you need to be visible from 200m. So technically having a rear light or a reflector fulfils this requirement. I need a new car 😅
Weird pace line. Normally the pace is set on the left line and after your turn you go to the right line and drift to the back of the line. Your method means the right line is constantly accelerating to get to the front
Depending where you are from? we drive on the left, overtaking is on the right so it's normal practice for the faster line to be on the right. (If in a race it will depend on which direction any wind is coming from). A good pace line ( ie:through & off) the fast line shouldn't need to accelerate past the slower line as you ease off the power as you peel off, hence the term through & off. If not you end up with a pace line racing itself and a shambles. You can see in the video at times the line is racing itself as the rider peeling off stays on the power leaving the fast line having to accelerate to catch and pass.
@@trevs9015 .. I am from Sydney. Most pace lines I have been in have the set pace on the left and dropping off to the right. I suppose it doesnt matter if it is in reverse but this pace line in the video is all wrong. The fast line has to accelerate to pass the other line. It is all about holding a set pace not accelerating to get past the line
@@cannon1156 ahh interesting, I too am Sydney (sorry I thought you may have been from O/S) but I've never done a pace line with the fastline on the left (except in some races). Maybe just different group etiquettes I guess. Your right I agree the fast line is having to accelerate to roll through which they shouldn't need too.
Love the discussion guys. Best practise for paceline is to roll in whatever direction the wind dictates. With that being said though, since we’re on a circuit that’s not really possible. I’ve ridden in Sydney for a few years with plenty of groups and I’ve never been with one which rotates clockwise though. In terms of the footage you’re seeing, fully get that it’s not the most efficient paceline. But the ride is almost like a ‘race’ style drop ride. And you’ll see it often just divulges to single file.
Great video! 🙌🙌🙌🙏
Thanks for watching the video guys!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Send you a DM on IG, let’s have a chat 😊
Thomas on the Gravel still rolling turns 😂🤣
Thomas is built different. He needs a handicap
Really good footage! Captured the ride well!
Thanks for the vids mate, great effort on the ride.
Thanks for watching and commenting mate!
Hope you enjoyed it :)
Banger video!
Cheers mate
Awesome vid! Definitely will plan a ride next time I head to Sydney
Cool beans! See you there
See you there soon!

Yea too many corners, traffic lights and vehicles.
Probably only place you can do a FTP test is Akuna Bay or Centennial Park
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching! Appreciate it
Naughty boy Josh, you were doing over 50k/hr in a 40 speed zone in the final sprint
👀👀👀
If there’s a tailwind, you can get up to 60km/hr on this uphill sprint.
Great video mate 🤟🙂👆
Thanks mate!
Top Stuff 🤙🤙
Solid hitout Josh. Any update on the Gen8? Did I miss you giving it back?
I’ve still got it! Just riding it a bit more before doing a review
@@joshkwan great, looking forward to that

Haha I will provide more comprehensive comments in my review of the Madone.
That being said my Emonda without pedals is 6.6kg. Very very hard to beat.
Noice one! givin' it horns!
Thanks Greg!
Another amazing video, especially like all the information about where you are on the road and the speed. Can anyone do this or is this a club event?
Thanks! The telemetry is a bit of work to edit and set up but I think it’s valuable for the viewer.

Thanks mate!

Josh great ride mate and how did you go with the new wheels.

Big power numbers on the sprint just tipped over 1000W 👏
Thanks mate! When I do more crit riding and racing I can usually get around 1200, but my focus right now is on base fitness for 3 Peaks.

Hey Josh
Where can I find the deets for Pain Train (and the other groups that seem to kick off at the same time/place)?

That's a huge group! I take it "Pain train" is the fast crew.
Yep, weekly about 80 people turn up. That is split into about 5 groups which vary in speed and ability. Pain train is the fastest group :)
wow great training, what telemetry program you using for on screen power etc?
Telemetry Overlay
It costs a bit of money, but allows a lot of customisation
@@joshkwan cheers mate.

Yep I’m aware of that. Just my forgetfulness to put it on the day before. Figured it’s better than nothing 😅
Come on mate, time to be brave and pop some Donski’s in the slow cooker 🤣
Where's the new bike?
Seems to be hanging on the wall.
Haha, I use the Emonda for rides like this.
Madone is being used for the social rides :)

I alternate between the Madone and my Emonda.
Don’t worry it’ll make an appearance soon
