    Something I see in this game (unrelated to your overall point though XD) is also the impact of taking T3 units and Giants at some point. T1/T2 units end up needing levels to compete so you end up sinking 500 into a unit that does 200dmg if you win, compared to 300/300 for a scorpion or 400/350 for a fort. By the end of this game you had 9 Giants, your opponent 5 scorpions - so even if he pulls a win he won't deal that much damage to you, so you'll have time to counter anything he does.
    Mechabellum games can be so sensitive to small changes (tower cheese is the obvious one, but sometimes the ranges just line up and you get a bunch of units obliterated out of nowhere) and having units that actually deal a lot of HP damage when you win probably appreciably increases your chances of winning the match.
    Obviously building a comp that actually wins rounds is the most important, but it's interesting to consider that you might actually have a higher chance of winning on average by actively choosing options that will deal more HP damage if they win.

      @@jordanb722 you are 100% spot on with this comment. I wish I'd also mentioned the benefit of giant damage to player hp during the recap. The backline phoenix play I made to try and end the game was only a consideration because of all the forts I had on the board since like you said they deal 350 hp if they live.
      Giants have a way bigger impact on the ability to end games. Like you mentioned they need to actually work, the comp needs to be able to win, but the benefit of free giants is such a game changer that one big win can just end it immediately.

    It feels like when I watch these high MMR games, people often make mistakes so incredibly obvious that I go, "isn't this supposed to be 1300MMR?" Like the opponent's Rhino drop...it's SUPER obvious that your pick is the Fortresses which hard counter it. Your second best choice is to take the Rhino and sell, getting something bonkers like War Factory, Overlords, or Worms, which the Rhino can't handle. Your third best choice is the Marksmen and add EMP, which also counters the Rhino! So why on earth would they take the Rhino!?

    I love Stangs! I even enjoy carry stangs games whenever the opponent picks up on it and hard counters, because it represents an opportunity to learn and finetune the next game. I almost insta-pick any specialist that comes with stangs, ideally with paired with crawlers. Stangs are so fast & versatile with AA and AM, and based on the board I pair them with forts, scorpions, melters and just keep leveling them. Great game again, and such good drops!
    Your videos helped me crack the 1700 MMR and I recently played my first 2k opponent (I think it was Bl@cksheep), he wrecked me in 7 rounds! GG and thanks for the amazing content!

    I have a question about mobile beacons. could it be smart to mobile beacon tanky units straight down the middle to aggro and damage sponge lots of enemy fire? Or is that not disruptive enough as in the opportunity cost of sacrificing units and a mobile beacon isn't worth it?
    For example at 14:00 if you beaconed you tanky Fortress forward to get all the attention, would that bo worth it or is it better if it fights normally

    • @Ragin08
      @Ragin08  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      Good question. Yes mobile beaconing tanky units can be very good to do depending on the situation you face. For example: something I like to do often and if I'm in an aggro position with fortress is if I suspect my opponent will be oiling my push forward this turn, I will barrier the fortress and mobile beacon them forward slightly so that they walk forward as well as continue to attack and it will block the oil before it lands. Another example if with rhinos, sometimes they can do exactly what you need them to do just by existing as large pools of hp for the rest of your units to clear. Now "down the middle," would really depend on if there was a priority unit worth taking out there or units worth distracting, otherwise in general, I would try to go more for towers since that often is the most beneficial target to dispatch.
      Edit: I see what you mean now with the Fortress. In this case I don't necessarily need to do much of anything since we have kind of a monster composition that fell into our lap. However, beaconing that fortress might have resulted in a better outcome from the round perspective since it would be absorbing more of the hits as opposed to more of my individual fortresses getting hit. So yes I think that is a good idea

    Why exactly does mustang-fortress combo go so hard compared to other possible DPS-anti_chaff combos?
    And thanks for the video. I knew I haven't been efficient with resources and this lesson made me realize how much and how easy some fixes are. I love Scrops, Melters and Vulcans so I never considered that unlocking big units might be too costly to justify.
    I still value giants for their health impact despite favoring scorps recently. I've noticed I have a hard time having enough oomph behind won rounds and sometimes that backfires instantly if my temporary advantage is mitigated in response.

    • @Ragin08
      @Ragin08  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@mazagu-crow the thing that makes it so strong is the fact that the combo essentially beats every possible counter your opponent can throw at you with only a few outliers. The idea is that the fortress with barrier tech stands in front and blocks for the stangs. The stangs will knock down the chaff, air and with levels everything else. The fortress can take shots on major units as the stangs clear chaff as well. What you really want if you are going fortress mustang is to be acquiring levels on the mustangs. It's very important that they continue to level to be able to continue to gun down bigger and bigger obstacles as the game progresses. If you ever need more aoe or damage in general the rocket punch on fortress is a great choice to add to the build. The one thing that your opponent can really mess you up with sometimes is armored flying units that the mustangs might not be able to kill if they don't have high enough levels. If you suspect that may be the case a couple packs of phoenix/or emp farseer can take care of armor wraiths or phantoms decently. Hope this helps

      @@KenLives333 no I wouldn't consider them chaff clear they are actually quite bad at clearing chaff. I have found they shine against Phoenix/marksmen when you use the stealth cloak and they can avoid becoming distracted by chaff. I have also seen them used effectively against mustangs/typhoon when you take armor on them and let them just exist as bullet sponges. Other than that I personally haven't found any other uses yet. They get hard countered by multi melters and aa wasps
