John, I've been very excited to tell you this... I got a PS5 (slim) for Xmas! It's been 20 years since I've owned a console and watching particularly you and Gab has made me desperate to play again. I'm 40, disabled, and dependant on my parents so usually for Xmas I'll get practical things, new glasses or shoes, etc. But I've been needing a hobby I can do from my bed so I asked my dad for a refurbished PS4 and the old man hooked it up! I've already started playing Dredge and downloaded some horror games to check out! Thank you for reminding me how much I love gaming.
For anyone interested in origins of all Stalker/Metro series, I highly recommend you to read the book called Roadside Picnic. It's not as action packed, but all of the concepts you see in these games were basically invented there (stalkers/anomalies/granting wishes with a twist etc) The book itself mostly discusses humanity's problems (and there's some political satire) but it's fairly good.
