The valve covers in crinkle black would be sweet! Wouldn't clash with the red, would match all the other black under the hood and would still compliment the orange block if you ever put it in something else.
Previous owner probably blew up the old Tonawanda 454, pulled out the 4L80E and left the truck for dead. Damn good restoration and perfect engine for the build. Back in the '90's, the ZZ502 was the crate motor of choices for the OBS.
I really don't understand how people can hate on RYAN MARTIN. He dominates NPK, is on his way to kill it on small tyres and is genuinely a humble, hard working dude. Those other youtube channels, that go to tracks and race and say its a REAL street car, its a REAR street car, simply don't have the means to compete. Do not think for a second what them other small tyre "real" street racers do is more difficult than what Ryan does. 800-1000hp is lot more easier to manage than 2000+
Most hate on him because he has made himself a lot of money and has the financial ability to do so much more and far better than others and even those with more money. Most of the people who hate on him are the kind of guys that kept help themselves but to pocket watch and complain.
They hate him because there jealous and wish they were in his position. He works hard more then every other racer and deserves everything. Every race he exceeds and puts 110% into the race. I would cheer for ryan nomatter what position his in even when he had a bad start to the npk season i know he will figure it out and rise up the ranks before the end of the season
All the 454 SS engines the trucks came from the factory in the trucks in all black with Aluminum valve covers and the top of the valve covers milled and had 454 SS in red.

R2C made me a really nice drop base air cleaner for a 496bbc I built for a client. Both the lid and base were clear acrylic, and the 5" tall filter was one of their's too. If you can get them to make you one, I think you'll be pleased too.
Plenty of clean ones if you want to spend $30k and up. I’ve seen low mile, clean ones have asking prices of almost $50k. This is better than that LS bs swap any day.
I got my 93 red lightning with 46k original miles all stock and super clean .. I love my baby but I would’ve sold it to you since you could’ve made it super bad ass

Should be able to make a carb hat with a flange for the intake and mount the throttle body in the front of the engine with the accessory drive a carb hat and a couple carb flanges and some pipe is all it would take!!!
Im kinda late to the party but I have a 92 454SS and the engine block and valve covers are black. There is some polished aluminum and stickers saying 454 and Tonawanda engine on the valve cover, but no orange anywhere.

Nope, they are the correct way round on the truck. Leading edge of the slot goes forwards unless the internal vanes dictate otherwise but I've never had one like that.
I definitely think you're right to paint the valve covers to match the body color 💯% by the way beautiful truck you guys knocked it out of the park with that one actually with all of your builds

I absolutely love this truck. The only this that I would have done different is put a late 90s style dash and wheel in it. I hate them early 90s dash and wheel. My 97 dash and wheel is so much better. But other then that the truck is perfect! I absolutely love it ❤❤
We use to call the engines in the SS 454 garbage truck motors and that’s when they first came out The 90’S Chevy’s had black engine blocks Chevrolet engine started out orange then in the 70s they were blue early 80s they were blue then they went to Black…
Apparently you guys are young all the big blocks were orange. Until 1977 then they were Powderpuff blue. Then the next GEN Tonawanda had aluminum valve covers black and silver.

You'd have to put orange and silver vinyl on the truck to get that not to clash
shouldn't the rotors be turning the other direction? thought the outter points of the slots should be pointing towards the rear of the truck
