So there's actually a new set of staples on the QR Rail Replacement. The coaches are no more... At all. Kinetic (Former Surfside), CDC Sunshine Coast, Thompsons, Mt Gravatt, Transdev, Hornibrook and Brisbane Bus Lines all now do rail operations in Low Floor vehicles. There is a massive array of LF vehicles, from your typical Bustech VST Mercedes workhorses, through to Volgren CR221Ls that are ex Ventura given a new home at Thompsons! I would give a list of every bus I've seen so far in the "new" fleet of rail replacement vehicles... But it's such a melting pot, I wouldn't want to spoil any future potential content!
It's a good step forward, I've only seen photos of some of the new machines but it makes a lot of sense. Coaches with wheelchair access may be appropriate for longer distances, but on the whole the move to low floors is a good one. Easier boarding and alighting, a more consistent product and wheelchair access should be welcomed by many travellers! Hopefully, I'll be able to make it up to Brisbane again sometime.
@@TalkingPlanning I agree on the whole Wheelchair Coach for long distance thing.. however, it seems the operators under contract aren't able to provide such vehicles (or don't have enough for a consistent service). If the Gold Coast line is crippled, have fun on the generic Kinetic VST/XDi... And CDC Sunshine Coast dragged down some of their Express Route Buses from up North on the last closure too

Yep! They are pretty swish- and the nice overhead console helps you forget that your knees are squashed in...
