Good to see some honest to goodness strength related content. Feel like a lot of channels have been over focused on hypertrophy lately. Gonna horse some weights today💪.
Nice video! I started doing these last week and it’s fun to be pulling such heavy weight in the beginning of a training cycle compared to normal deadlifting.
Appreciate the recent uploading frequency as of late. I like the new format. Deciding whether to pull the trigger on a pair of those Juji jeans. They look very comfortable to train in.
Great stuff! I’m in Mitch Hoopers program right now and he has conventional deadlifts early in the week and a variation later in the week. Block one was 18” dead’s and this block is snatch grip and snatch block pulls. 👍🏻💪🏼
Just strained my lower back for the first time ever on deads. Planning on doing some block pulls when im feeling better and work my way back into full rom.
You seen the tren twins? 5'7", short arms and legs, pulling 6 and a half plates. Don't give up on deadlifts just because you have short levers brother.
Joe, what jeans are you using? I’ve been rocking the lucky’s athletic line for a while but that’s still pretty tight even with the stretch fabric. Also, great info thanks
these are just Hollister jeans that I found at Marshalls lol. I don't recommend lifting in them as I just tore them. However just got some 5:11 slim flex defender jeans that will arrive tomorrow and will review them.
Hey Coach! Love the content. As only a recreational lifter, I watched a deadlift comp recently, but I didn’t get the rules? Why doesn’t everyone lift the same weight? And more importantly, what are those judges looking for? Some of those lifts looked like cash money to me and got called as a miss? I thought it might be a video idea. Thank you sir!
Should my block deadlifts be quite heavy, to train the weaker points in my lift? Or should I basically do the same weight that I would in a regular training session? Thank you for a great video :)
Good stuff ill have to try this out, but What do you think of replacing normal conventional deadlift with an axle deadlift? Would you see an increase in your normal conventional deadlift when you swap back?
Hey! Question on technique observed at 7:22. How many lbs does air guitar assist in total weight? In my experience it is somewhere around 50-100lbs depending on how nasty the riff is.
Bro I thought you were dropping the barbell on those crossmembers at first lol, thanks alot for the video im hoping to get over 405 by the end of the month this might do the trick. Time to horsecock some deadlifts!
Rack pulls off of safety straps are even better in my opinion. It makes the intial pull even stiffer, since all of the weight is lifted once you break them off of the straps, versus off floor or blocks this could happened in increments depending on the flex in your bar, hence making it better for sticking points. Also, safety strap racks pulls are even less damaging to a barbell than either rack or block pulls.
Harder to set the height as the straps do not hold at the same height as the rack setting. can definitely still act as a fulcrum and bend the bar if done improperly whereas block pulls are impossible to do so
Szat, can i know what's your training routine of the hole week and what's the most thing you kept doing it to your body or what's the stable exercises you did to that awesome transformation of your body or what's the secret?, Honestly i don't mean to bother you but that transformation is epic are you taking any somethings like steroids again no offence from the bottom of my heart your body right now is remarkable and epic...i wish my bodybto be like you right now...thank you, sir
I remember when rack pulls had a huge following back in like 2016 or so and people loved them, then suddenly people started saying, "Oh they don't help, oh they're useless." But use blocks instead and people don't bat an eye lol They're a super effective workout that are easier to overload compared to deadlifts and they impact deadlift strength directly.
Deficits I think help a lot to generate power/strength from the starting position and make regular deadlifts "easier" because you are starting in a less optimal position. If you can get really strong in deficit positions then your traditional deadlift becomes easier IMO. However they can be pretty dang fatiguing so make sure they are programmed correctly.
Are you referring to conventional block pulls? Personally I find the difference between pulling from the floor or 3-4" blocks to be meaningfully greater when pulling sumo compared to conventional.
How far below the knee and how many sets and reps? I was thinking about starting either block or rack pulls for 12 weeks then switching to the other for another 12
@@boom-bm1kl Its about 6-8” off the floor. Pretty high! But worked well for me. Oh and I did a top set of 1-3 reps one week then a top set of 5-10 reps the next week. Trying to add weight in each rep range every time I alternated. I got from 550x1-615x1 and from 465x8-500x8 over a few months on that height.
Hopefully this video helped you guys learn more about block pulls! Deadlift program available here: szatstrength.programs.app/

Block pulls are the single best deadlift accessory I've ever found.
Love the content.
815 lbs block pulls are on the menu today. Time to make it count and get a huge deadlift.
Let's all keep working hard and let's be GREAT. 💪💪
damn that's crazy strong! Keep it up.
Nice video!

thank you for watching. They definitely feel good and you can usually push some heavier weights!

I just got that from him! Excited to start!
glad to see WSM using some block pulls and a higher pulling frequency.
I like this style video, too. Good info focused on a specific aspect of getting stronger without info overload. Thanks bro!
thank you! I will do more of these mixed in with other video ideas =]. A nice mixture makes it more fun!
Been doing block pulls recently, thanks for the info!
welcome, glad the video was useful!

awesome, I hope you feel better over time and keep getting stronger! You got this.
love this new style of vlogging! great content!
Love the details and nuances. Thank for the info. Looking huge too bro !
Glad you found the video useful! Keep crushing it.
I gave up on deadlifts because I have short arms and legs. I'm going to give these a try.

"Little Sam" is a 4'5" powerlifter and he deadlifts. No excuses.

been ages since done, time to bring them back cheers Joe
hopefully they help you! Thanks for watching.
do you have a video going into detail about your back tweak and how you dealt with it both physically and mentally.
this video uses the concepts that I used to get through my back tweak! th-cam.com/video/-C5BreO7ZuA/w-d-xo.html
Saw you rowing with the arch nemesis. Just got that bar a little while ago, surprised how unstable it feels doing rows. Really have to right the roll
yeah it took me some getting used to, but I enjoy using it!

haha you are correct on your experiences!
Thank you for sharing.

haha that would of been rough on the bar and rack. No problem, I hope the video helped give you some ideas!
Comment for the algo LFG.
yes sir! Thank you!

that's a good idea I should use them and see how they feel! Thanks for the recommendation.

What if my comp lift is a block pull? Should I throw conventional in later in the week?
I have done that in the past! I think having a conventional pull in there somehow always has benefits.
Am i missing out on strength and hypertophy by not doing Bent over barbell rows.? I do lots of rdl, chins and db rows
IMO yes, I think it helps increase explosiveness off the ground and gets ur upper back thicker than a snicker.
@@Addyman.Strong thats too bad, i hate them. 😂

everything comes and goes. Lifting remains the same.
Blow--ed da eff up! Get dem gainz!
Oh heellllllll yeahhh let’s get juicy.
Does deficit deadlift has a similar beneficial effect?

Can I do this on smith machine
You can. It's about the only use I actually see for the Smith machine.
You for sure can.
block pull from about 3" adds 100lb to my max. This is what guys with great leverages must feel like all the time.
Are you referring to conventional block pulls? Personally I find the difference between pulling from the floor or 3-4" blocks to be meaningfully greater when pulling sumo compared to conventional.
Rack pulls below the knee got my deadlift from 500-525 to 550+

appreciate you watching!
i'm a 700lb deadlifter and block pulls helped me a lot, rack pulls did nothing
