Hey folks, I've been addicted for 16 years now and have only managed to reach 17 days for over 10 years of trying but with your help and knowledge Snipes I'll be able to leave this awful addition behind. Day 2 for me so far let's go! 🙏❤️
Doc, i've been trying to raise and create awareness about this for the longest time. I feel i am 60% healed from this but have some time to reach normal. Thank you for this video, a qualified professional discussing this was desperately needed.
2 months sober from daily porn use, gambling (stocks), and addictive eating patterns (under eating, overeating, and eating meals with low nutrition content). After 1-2 weeks of abstinence existing symptoms of generalized anxiety and depression, helped me to progress past the denial phase of grieving my permeant mental health condition and the 15-20 years of loss while addicted and while suffering in silence. As the doors to addictive behaviours are closed (and locked) be sure to m set in place activities to support recovery. This video does a great job highlighting those. Lastly, I did not make this change in isolation. Instead, I was supported by friends, therapist, and registry attendance of a self-help group (adult children of alcoholics).
Thank you very much for making this one. Extremely informative. I had once quit it all for 1 year and 3 months and then 6 months, fell back into it on and off afterwards. I’ve only recently realized that I need to also address the underlying issues, or else you either fall back into this addiction or replace one for another.
I quit porn, masterbation, and social media at the same time. I forgot when i started, but its been a while. The withdrawals are similar to opiate addiction, which ive beat already. All addictions are basically the same. So if you can beat one addiction, you CAN beat...them all. Lol
I’m 34 and struggle with ptsd narcissistic abuse and PTSD and porn addiction since I was a kid childhood trauma and my narcissistic family cult like system
I’m in the same position folks, super uncomfortable relentless anxiety and anxiousness, nausea and flu like feelings, oh and eye blinking and mild tinnitus like I can hear a shhhhhh type sound in a quiet room that goes up and down with my anxiety levels. 6 year addiction to sexual fantasy, euphoric recall, and currently 11 days into abstinence, boy I feel bad. I also have this fear that I’m damaged and will be stuck in withdrawal forever regardless of my recovery efforts 😢
Thank you for sharing your experience-it’s incredibly brave of you to be so open about what you’re going through. PAWS can be really challenging, especially when the symptoms feel overwhelming and relentless like this. The anxiety, nausea, and flu-like symptoms, along with the tinnitus, are unfortunately common, and they can be incredibly distressing. It’s important to remind yourself that these are temporary and often part of the body’s healing process as it recalibrates. Being 11 days into abstinence after a six-year addiction is a huge achievement, even if it doesn’t feel that way right now. Recovery is a gradual journey, and it’s normal to fear that things won’t get better, but many people find that symptoms improve over time with consistent effort and support. Have you found any particular strategies or grounding techniques that help manage the anxiety or the other symptoms you’re experiencing? What’s one small thing you’ve been able to do lately that helps you feel even a little bit better or more grounded, even if just for a moment?
This video was not porn recovery not stimulants. Watch my other videos on Post Acute Withdrawal (PAWS) and get into a recovery program that helps you learn to tolerate cravings and urges in the moment for a rich and meaningful life in the long haul.

I did not find any research for sex or porn addiction and stimulant abuse, and only found one (nonhuman) study for "compulsive sexual behavior " pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20045448/ I can tell you that a sign of a manic or hypomanic episode is hypersexuality and according to the study, stimulant use increased sex drive in rats, but those are very loose associations at best.
I know the topic of antidepressants is a very personal and sensitive one for those in recovery. I am curious as to when you’d recommend that someone have a conversation with their doctor about starting meds. My whole concept around meds and healing are that I want to get better naturally, or as naturally as I can. My depression is a symptom of dopamine and serotonin withdrawal from not engaging in bottom line behaviors (pmo). Does this just naturally get better with time? I don’t want to prolong the brunt of my healing process by throwing meds into the equation, but I’m curious as to if what I’m going through should be this difficult. My experience is seriously testing me. Thanks in advance for any feedback
Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful and honest question-it’s clear you’re putting a lot of care and self-awareness into your recovery process. Many people feel similarly about wanting to heal as naturally as possible, and you’re right that deciding to use medication is a very personal choice. During recovery from behaviors like PMO (pornography, masturbation, and orgasm), it’s common to experience a “withdrawal” effect on mood due to shifts in dopamine and serotonin levels. This period can be incredibly challenging as your brain readjusts, and for some, these symptoms do improve gradually with time as the body finds a new balance. However, if the depression feels overwhelming or is impacting your daily life to a degree that’s unsustainable, it may be worth discussing with a doctor or mental health professional. They could offer insights into whether short-term or even non-pharmacological options like therapy, supplements, or lifestyle changes might support your natural healing process. You’re not alone in feeling tested by this process, and sometimes, just having a professional to discuss these options with can bring some clarity and relief. How have you been managing the difficult days so far? Sometimes hearing what’s worked, even a little, can provide new strategies for others navigating similar experiences.
Hi, I have a question, so is it normal? In recovery to notice your eyes blinking. I think I've become hypersensitive to it and it's pretty scary. I keep seeing it
It's not uncommon for people in recovery to become more aware of bodily sensations and actions, including something as automatic as blinking. This heightened sensitivity can sometimes be a result of anxiety or hyper-awareness that often accompanies the recovery process. If this sensation is causing you significant distress or seems to be worsening, it might be helpful to discuss it with a healthcare provider or therapist who can offer strategies to manage this heightened sensitivity and ensure there are no underlying concerns. Please feel free to share what you’ve found most useful from the video and, if you’re interested in learning more about porn addiction recovery or to search for videos in the video library, don’t hesitate to use my AI: allceus.com/AskDocSnipes.
I get this, it’s almost like a spasm of blinking sometimes 5 - 10 seconds long, and occasionally I get stuck in 30 second episodes… slightly embarrassing when it happens in public
What happens if you had an addiction so bad to masterbating daily while watching CORN that it got to the point where you started getting panic attacks for no reason, doen regulated your dopamine and acetylcholine so much that you have physical symptoms? Can your brain heal? Regrow damaged nueorons and receptors? Thats my case. Too many things to list. I cant even look or think about something sexual or pleasurable cause my nervous system cant handle it. It sounds strange but its true
Thank you for sharing your experience, and I want to acknowledge how challenging it must be to go through what you’re describing. It’s not strange at all-porn addiction, like other behavioral addictions, can have real impacts on brain chemistry, including dopamine and other neurotransmitters like acetylcholine, which play crucial roles in mood, motivation, and physical symptoms. The good news is that the brain has an incredible ability to heal through a process called neuroplasticity. Over time, with abstinence from the addictive behavior and implementing healthy coping strategies, your brain can repair and regrow neurons and receptors that were affected by the addiction. Recovery isn’t always a quick process, but with the right support-whether through therapy, support groups, or healthy lifestyle changes-you can rebuild your nervous system's balance. It’s also important to address the panic attacks and physical symptoms you’re experiencing. A therapist trained in trauma or addiction recovery could help you work through these symptoms and regain control over your responses to sexual or pleasurable stimuli. Healing is absolutely possible, and you’re not alone in this journey. If you're interested in more tips on the topic or if you want to explore my video library, you can use my AI: allceus.com/AskDocSnipes. Keep reaching out for support, and take it one step at a time.
Mam, last question is that whenever I sleep and hear any sound I start having pain in my joints. Will the symptoms of withdrawal get cured without anyone's help or will I have to get treatment.
Mam my addiction 10+year perday my symptoms very wrost like panic attack chest pain eye pain joints pain muscle twitching my age 24 how many recovery day mam please hello 😢😢
Thank you for sharing your experience. It sounds like you’ve been dealing with a long-term addiction and are now facing intense withdrawal symptoms. The symptoms you’re describing-like panic attacks, chest pain, joint and muscle pain-can be part of Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome (PAWS), especially after years of addiction. These symptoms happen as your brain and body work to rebalance, but they can feel overwhelming. Recovery timelines vary for each person depending on factors like the length and intensity of addiction, overall health, and the support you have during the process. Many people start to see improvements in symptoms within weeks to a few months, but full recovery can take longer, especially for emotional and psychological symptoms. The key is to focus on small, daily progress and prioritize self-care. I strongly encourage you to work with a healthcare professional or addiction specialist to manage these symptoms safely, especially given how severe they feel for you. Support groups and therapy can also provide guidance and tools to help you through this process. If you found this video helpful, please consider sharing it so others in similar situations can learn more about recovery. For more in-depth tools and resources, visit DocSnipes.com/Clones.
Thank you for reaching out again. It's understandable to feel frustrated when you're not seeing the progress you hoped for, especially after 11 months. Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome (PAWS) can indeed be a long and winding road, and it's not uncommon for symptoms to linger longer than expected. The brain and body are complex systems, and healing from long-term addiction involves a lot of rebuilding and rebalancing, which can take time . Think of it like a city recovering from a hurricane. The initial cleanup might happen quickly, but rebuilding the infrastructure takes much longer. Your brain is undergoing a similar process as it heals from the changes caused by prolonged porn use, such as neurotransmitter imbalances and structural changes . This can result in ongoing symptoms like anxiety, irritability, and even physical discomfort. It's crucial to continue focusing on self-care and seeking support. Engaging in activities that promote overall wellness, like regular exercise, a balanced diet, and mindfulness practices, can help support your recovery journey. Additionally, connecting with a therapist or support group can provide valuable tools and encouragement as you navigate this challenging time. If you're interested, you might find my Self Help Courses beneficial. They offer a range of resources, including videos and worksheets, to help address various aspects of addiction and recovery. Remember, recovery is not a linear process, and it's okay to have setbacks or periods where progress feels slow. Keep focusing on the small victories and know that you're not alone in this journey. If you have more questions or need further support, feel free to reach out. You're doing important work, and every step forward is a step toward healing.
Thank you for your question! Yes, withdrawal-especially during Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome (PAWS)-can sometimes bring up symptoms that resemble OCD or social anxiety. When the brain is adjusting to functioning without the “high” of an addictive behavior, it can go through a period of increased sensitivity and dysregulation. This can show up as obsessive thoughts, heightened anxiety in social situations, and even compulsive behaviors, as your system tries to find a new balance. These symptoms are often temporary, though they can be uncomfortable. Grounding techniques, regular routines, and mindful practices can sometimes help ease this transition. If you’re interested, I’d be glad to share some specific tips or tools for managing these feelings. Are there particular symptoms that feel most challenging for you right now?
@@DocSnipes welcome. Actually my symptoms now are more related to dorsal vegal shutdown. I am in a deep freeze now. I have severe dpdr, dissociation and emotional numbness.
Repressed memories or traumas can indeed resurface during Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome (PAWS). PAWS is a condition that occurs after the acute phase of withdrawal from addictive substances and can last for up to a year or more. During this period, individuals may experience a range of symptoms including emotional outbursts, anxiety, depression, and memory problems. The resurfacing of repressed memories or traumas during PAWS can be attributed to the brain's process of rebalancing neurotransmitters and healing from the damage caused by substance abuse. As the brain undergoes this recovery, it can trigger emotional and psychological responses, including the re-emergence of past traumas. It's important for individuals experiencing PAWS to develop coping strategies to manage these resurfacing memories and emotions. Techniques such as meditation, breathing exercises, building relationships with sober supports, and engaging in pleasurable activities can be beneficial. Additionally, addressing underlying trauma through therapy can be crucial in supporting long-term recovery. If you or someone you know is dealing with PAWS and the resurfacing of repressed memories, seeking professional help from a counselor or therapist experienced in addiction and trauma recovery is highly recommended.
