    OSU alum & this game makes me cry everytime. Did an extended cross-country road trip in june 2018 (moving & visit baseball parks + national parks), and wondered if the beavers might make an omaha run & could time being there while not skipping hikes or parks i wanted to see. Really needed circumstances to play out with beavs playing the most games possible & rain delays. On this day, exhaustedly came from rocky mtn nat park to a random sports dive bar in boulder to watch and have my fate decided if i'm immediately driving 8 hrs to omaha in the middle of the night to watch my beavs win the championship. I felt like I was in a movie watching that foul ball drop & homerun in sequence. Everyone at that dive bar was captivated by my trip & rooting with me to see my dreams come true. Next day in Omaha & enjoying the championship in person was icing on the cake. If an angel or spirit was along side me & a baseball or beaver fan, i'm convinced they played a part.

    Still amazes me that OSU won CWS with their best player (Madrigal .367 BA season) in a slump, their best pitcher (Heimlich 16-3, 2.92 ERA season) going 0-1 and their productive lead-off hitter (Kwan .463 OBP season) essentially on the bench, injured. Monster Championship series' by Rutschman (8/13), Larnach (5/11) and Abel (2-0) still got the job done.

      @@jmhydn58 Apparently, he's just there to hit. However, some things never change --- when the screws get tight people perform differently, sometimes your mind and body just don't do what you've trained them to. Happens every year. Credit to Oregon State, they made Arkansas pay and grabbed new life in the series...got them a Championship with all that momentum..and in the big games of baseball, momentum and confidence are everything. A little bit of poetic karma as Larnach launched the go ahead over Cole's head. (Did Cole have the Texas flag on his glove 17:56, isn't he playing at Arkansas?)

      Yeah, I know the feeling. The year before, Oregon State was on the verge of setting an NCAA record for wins and winning percentage in a season before losing two straight to LSU when they only needed one more win to advance to the CWS finals. If they had won that CWS, they would probably have been heralded as the greatest college baseball team ever. That hurts as a Beavers fan.

    That foul ball wasn’t the easiest thing in the world to catch but somebody definitely should’ve caught it. Any one of those three players could’ve caught it and If you’re in that situation you just simply have to be as assertive as possible, call off everyone and catch the ball

    How do Cole, Shatey and Gates go on with their lives after letting the National Championship ball fall to the grouned? The RF and 2B had the best shot at it. My point is all three should of slammed into each other for the catch instead of none of them going for the ball and pulling up. The play should of been made. It wasn't and history has been changed forever. This non- play gives the Beavers their 3rd NC in in 13 years and the Razorbacks still without a title.

    • @gortond21
      @gortond21 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      You’re crazy then. Arkansas drops pop fly to win the national championship. Osu makes them pay by hitting single to tie. Then immediate home run to nail the coffin. Plus a double play in the bottom of the 9th. This is the greatest sequence in college baseball history and if you don’t see it you must not like baseball let alone sports.
