    Hey I appreciate all the help before running in to some weird stuff. I was tuning a little bit an the car cut off. Now when I try to start it I turn the key on the pump cycles but pcm won’t connect to the laptop try to detect it etc. I get nothing. while they key is still in on position the pcm cycles fuel pump every 15 seconds. I thought it was a wiring issue I’ve tried multiple 12v connections to power the system and still the same results. Made sure grounds were good. Changed the relays as well. Still the same. Nothing fixing this issue.

    Do you know of any way I could test the iac motor ? Or how I can see if the stepper adapter I have is working ? I have a meter I wired the iac adapter myself like the rest of the harness but a new problem arose where in tuner studio when I use the can bus test to test the iac it communicates like it’s supposed to on the gauges but it doesn’t matter if it’s in the home position or run position it has no affect. So basically right now I have no iac motor and it’s stuck so far open it wants to idle at 1900

    I'm looking to trigger a relay for electric fans via the Microsquirt on my 5.3L LS. It looks like since you need to use the LED pins to trigger the coils, that there are no other spare outputs to use unless I opt out of using IAC/FIDLE. Is this the case? I can't find anything in the documentation that mentions using WLED/ALED to trigger the coils. What am I missing?

    • @WestcoastWrenchin
      @WestcoastWrenchin  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You will be out of outputs unfortunately, but no need to worry! Buy a fan switch at desired temperature and install in your head with an m10 to npt adapter. That fan switch then grounds a standard bosch relay and turns on your fan!

      Quickly reviewing here: CANH, CANL, VRIN2+, SPARE, FLEX (now using it for my 2step,) SERIAL RX, SERIAL TX, BOOTLOADER, OPTOIN+/- and I think that's it! Note that I've got the IAC controller which takes up a few more wires.

    • @WestcoastWrenchin
      @WestcoastWrenchin  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As far as what I did with them I cut them to about 2ft in length and just hid them in the harness incase I ever had to connect to them again. This was the case for the flex wire which I've got rigged to a clutch switch. In tuner studio you can setup 2 step to run when this wire is grounded so my cluch switch grounds this wire and boom, I've got 2 step with clutch depressed and throttle over 90%. This actually can cause problems though because I shift fast and it will hit the 2 step between shifts occasionally, so this year I'm going to move the two step to a thumb controlled button.

    Hi, great video! I about to order my micro squirt for my 2004 6.0 LQ4 swap into my 72 Nova naturally aspirated. I pulled a drive by cable throttle body off a junk yard motor to convert from the drive by wire Throttle body. Question about running the IAC with micro squirt. When you said " Your welcome! You can only do throttle by cable with a micro. The iac wiring is simply a seperate module which allows you to use a stepper iac which is essential to making it run nice :)" Where do I get or buy a IAC separate module? Sorry Im newbie confused. So is it just a way of wiring off the micro squirt or an actual separate IAC module "I have to buy somewhere" that works with the micro squirt? Thanks!

    so for a straight 6 like from a datsun l28et i would need to wire the inj1 wire to injectors 1,3,5 and inj2 to injectors 2,4,6. Im also guessing that i would only need 1 signal wire for the coil since it has a distributor?

    • @WestcoastWrenchin
      @WestcoastWrenchin  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct on the injectors. I'm not sure how a microsquirt could control a distributor. It's got logic level coil outputs meaning its replicating a digital computer signal more or less to fire the coils. Get yourself a crank sensor and then run individual coil packs from an LS and plug the distributor hole :) I bet that is actually cheaper to do than even trying to make the distributor work, plus you can control timing way better with coil packs than the distributor.

    Do you have an idea as to why I’m getting a bad signal on my composite logger with no spark? The red line in the composite logger has waves just like the blue rpm ones while cranking. It’s a 24x engine and I have everything wired exactly as the write-up on LS1Tech says and it’s set to LS1 ignition capture. It was running for a while, now it has no spark while cranking but has spark in test mode and if I change my ignition settings to toothed wheel 24-2 it will try to run. I figured it was interference so I rewired my crank position sensor, added another layer of shielding and grounded it, and I’ve tried different crank sensors but the results are the same. I can send you my tune or pictures of my settings if you have time to look at them

      Westcoast Wrenchin' I had to pull my transmission then when I reinstalled it the truck no longer had spark. The transmission is a full manual valve body though so it’s not electronically controlled and I didn’t change anything else. I had this same issue before that and I put some foil tape around my crank position sensor wires then it ran but now I have no idea why the issue came back. It’s been about a year and I haven’t been able to figure it out or find someone who knows anything about Microsquirts

    You should have wired the injector outputs to one side only, this could give you per-bank o2 feedback :)

    • @WestcoastWrenchin
      @WestcoastWrenchin  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's an interesting idea. My theory behind this was to keep fuel flow relatively constant through the rails instead of having one bank flow, then the other, then the other etc. I think that drastic flow changing would leave me with a less than ideal result. I did some research into this when I built my first one and sold myself on the 2 on each bank theory, but lots of people fire one bank at a time and it works just fine! I really would like to know more about this though.

    • @WestcoastWrenchin
      @WestcoastWrenchin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@neddyairsoft3972 they fire four at once, they are not timed per cylinder. This is pretty standard on older efi and actually cools the valve. When you calculate how many times per second injectors fire you will see that it is almost negligible in terms of efficiency, especially on a hot rod
