  • With the new lockdown being introduced I have decided to do a series of walking videos where I will be exploring my local area! I recently moved to Belper last year and haven't managed to explore much of the area. With the new rules still allowing us to go on a walk in our local area it has given me the perfect reason to get out and see what Belper and the surrounding area has to offer! (All done within the lockdown rules and guidelines of course).
I know how fed up we all are of the current situation but I truly believe getting outside and walking once a day is one of the best ways to get through these times, even if its just a 10 minute walk around the block. I hope you all mange to get out on a walk and we'll be out of this nightmare before we know it! Hope you enjoy the video. See you in the next one! :)

Lovely local walk there Alex. There are some fab walks often on our doorstep and lockdown certainly provides an opportunity to try them out. Like yourself, I’ll be staying local through lockdown as the Peaks will still be there when its over. Good to hear you are planning to walk the DVHW. Look forward to watching those videos when you do them. I’m hoping to walk it myself this year

Thank you Anthony! Exactly, I'm looking forward to exploring the area and having some time away from the Peaks will make it even sweeter when we can return. Yes, it's a very long walk but one I've always wanted to do, great to hear you're thinking of doing it as well, I don't feel as crazy now haha. Cheers Anthony.

U really enjoyed your chat and company there Alex. Glad you enjoyed a local one and am discovering it even. I've never stopped walking my local area. You get the joys of the inside and out when you go to the more impressive spots. Well, good to see good old England there. All the best. Mark

Thank you Mark. Yes I've really enjoyed exploring my local area during the UK lockdown, its made me realise that I live in a beautiful area and that in the future I don't always need to travel long distances to get to a good walking location! Thank you for the comment, Thanks Mark :)

    Hello how are you
I looked on ancestry Australia and all my relatives date back to way past the 1800s
I’m so interested in seeing belper but I’m in Australia
On my search my mother came to Australia in 1953 on a boat
But every other family member dated back to all being married and born and working in belper as blacksmiths and looking at the area it is crazy but it feels like home to me it’s weird to say
I’ve never had contact with my mum since I was very very young but for what ever reason my mum came here to Australia when she was 4 years old
I’ve always been a crafty person and believer or not used to restore vintage English phones and my dream home would be to buy a old church with medieval 🏰 type looks and then when I just started looking at belper it just made me feel like home. It’s crazy

Great little video, Alex, we've done that walk and various parts of it many times during lockdown as it's minutes from our house. Did you know there are smoke vents on the hills above Milford tunnel?

Thank you Zedd! It’s a great walk isn’t it and wow! I did notice some funny looking things on the golf course, that maybe could be the smoke vents?? I’m new to the area and still exploring it all, I was planning on doing another video where I’ll pass the train tunnel again, I’ll definitely mention the smoke vents 👍 thank you very much for the comment and fun fact! 👍😁
