I had this realization about 2 years ago, the exact same thing. Looking back I am glad I made the cuts when I did, its awakening to realize who is just there taking from you; and taking you off your purpose (through drama, bad advice, taking $, etc).

You have to be careful of the moment when you are too good at dealing with their negativity and you even forget about them for a while. They are constantly thinking about the next action to get back into your head and it is very annoying when this happens.
