The only difference was that a meteor smash could be meteor cancelled and a spike couldn't. So my thinking has always been that a spike is simply a meteor smash that can't be meteor cancelled. Enter Brawl and Smash 4, where all meteor cancelling was removed. Thus making every meteor smash in the game a spike. The game itself calls them meteor smashes still, but I still make the distinction between the two out of habit.
Those Ryus on FG who taunt like 2 times every time they get a kill is the reason why I just wanna buy Ryu so I can kick their asses later. But I'm dirt poor lol

Hey, how'd you use the PSI shield to switch direction mid air, i dont know how to switch direction mid air and it makes it hard to tether onto stage or to b-air people off stage. Nice combo vid! Only been 4 days and you're already really good
It's called B-Reversing. Pretty much, input the special move you want and quickly push the control stick in the opposite direction your character is facing.
For a 4-day-in combo video, this was really nice. You learned the spike hitbox on Back-air really quickly. Nice job. Also props for actually using magnet for movement and offstage kills like me. ;)
It's less about actually sweetspotting it and actually more about knowing when to start the attack and spacing it properly. It will come naturally after some practice. I hate to promote myself like this, but I have a video on my channel where I get two b-airs off in one game (each one taking a stock). I may not be as good as Kibzu, but hey, it's something. Also it's really late at night where I live and I recorded the match just a few minutes ago. It's uploading now using the new TH-cam upload feature that came in the latest Smash update.
I remember when I was at the LEAST approaching "this good" At lucas... on Brawl. Something about him is....different.. I cannot place my finger on it but I just cant seem to play him as I did. I know some sm4sh mechanics are different but.. I cant figure out where the problem is.... Obviously PSi magnet's glitchy(yet very useful) bugs are removed but, that's just a small piece of it all. GRRRR LUcas why are you rejecting me now????
+Artanail Lazentujin I have the same problem. I used to be quite decent as Lucas in SSBB but now, I suck playing as him, It's more difficult for me to land hits and I'm more punishable now. That's too bad, because I want to keep him as my main.

Chacho131 As Zachary said, Meteor Smashes have taken the place of Spikes since Brawl. Lucas has 2 Meteor Smashes. Back-Air and Down-Air.
