He actually has lead vocals on 4 of the songs on their Dive Bar Saints album and you mentioned one (Catch Me If You Can). He also sings lead on “Dreamer”, “Cross That Bridge”, and parts of “Why Not”.

@@bethcoussou I'm aware of all the songs that Rob sings lead. I didn't want to list 25 suggestions at once, I chose two of my personal favorites. Feel free to suggest your own, but don't troll comments just to jump on people for not listing every song they've done, it makes you look petty and stupid.

@@JulieAnn02261990 Someone must not have had a nap today! You definitely don’t have the demeaned most Home Fries do! It wasn’t my intention to call you out. For Robb: Bless the Broken Road and a good portion of Take Me Home Country Roads. For a purely vocal arrangement minus instrument sounds: Brothers in Arms and How Great thou art. For more beatboxing: When a Man Loves a Woman and Working for a Living.

Hi Christi, good to see you back with the boys !! More Rob ? Bless the Broken Road is a Rob centric video, and it's a visual stunner too. Also you really need to react as well to Brothers in Arms...it may be their masterpiece. It might make your jaw drop. I agree the guys fed off of Rob's energy for sure !!

There is a video with Home Free of them performing three songs at Paste Magazine's studio. They explained that most of the time they will each record the song and then decide which voice is best suited to the music. Tim said on one particular song, Rob did his recording first. They other guys loved it and didn't bother to record their versions. I love that they support each other and there are no divas in the group.

I'm embarrassed a Home Fry sent that email to you. I have so much respect for the Home Fries. I've never seen ugly comments from them. Darn. Besides, you do music reactions, not just Home Free. Yes, I'm more likely to watch a Home Free reaction, but I've been exposed to some pretty cool stuff that I watch because I like the reactors, and listen to other things because of them, so keep it up, lady.

I’ve always thought that the two Tenors, [Rob and Austin] while having the ability to seam effortlessly together, can also be diametrically apposed.
    I sum it up thusly....
    • Austin’s ‘belting’ is like taking a shot of crème de menthe, and stepping out into a starlit winter’s night.🥶😲
    • Rob is more akin to gliding along a river of honey in a velvet canoe.🥰🤗
    At least that’s how I feel.🤷🏻‍♂️

It’s so good to see you back! What a great song to choose to re-start! Rob really did shine in this one! He put himself out there and sang his heart out, as did Austin! This is one of their best, but if you want to see their best, check out their Dire Straits cover of “Brothers In Arms”! It will blow you away! If you’ve ever reacted to their Crosby, Still, & Nash cover of “Helplessly Hoping” (I don’t think you have, and if you haven’t, you should), it surpassed that one, which is beautifully done! I really enjoyed your reaction and dissection, discussion, and enthusiasm towards this superbly talented group!

    • @ryanellsworth7246

Amen on Helplessly Hoping. They took a mediocre old song and recreated it into a work of art.

  • @roguemerlin1969
    @roguemerlin1969 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

All of them can sing, even Adam. Chance, the baritone, is featured in their version of Folsom Prison Blues by Johnny Cash. On the Sing Off, Tim is the lead on another Johnny Cash song, Ring of Fire. Since it is live in front of the judges and audience, there is no production on the back end. Rob is what I would call a middle tenor with a softer, fuller sound and is lead in Bless the Broken Road. For Austin, the higher, sharper tenor, I would recommend Crazy by Patsy Cline or When a Man Loves a Woman by Percy Sledge. You can't go wrong with any of their music.

Yes, Robs voice is so, so good in this song. Killing it! And Adam Rupp...... His versitillity in his beats is nothing less than world class.
A song that also show Robs voice pretty good is Bless the broken road.
And another HIGHLY recomended song by HF is "Brothers in arms ". It is a "Tim - song". Tim and Chanse are taking turns on that one.
You really must listen to it.

I get what you're sayin' - Rob's voice just takes me to my happy place....it's soooo soothing. It's great to hear from you again - don't let the nay sayers bother you... I'm glad to see you again and I do appreciate how you breakdown each song...especially my favs... Home Free
I'm an older gent that goes way back to my 'Wonder Years' ...growing up with the Beatles and that genre. I was hooked on Gospel music with the likes of Imperials, Gather's, which were a huge inspiration to me in my "solo" quest... Now looking back some 50 years later, I am so amazed at the talent of these 5 guys and how much fun and entertainment they provide. I was hooked the first time I heard "Man of Constant Sorrow".. They are simply amazing. Give a hard look at their "Dive Bar Saints" album...which all but two songs are original. Rob really shines on "Dreamer" and "Cross that Bridge".....
I always look forward to your honest and very inciteful breakdown of each song you react to - your facial expression alone tells me it touches not only your heart but your very soul.
Your' reaction to "American Pie" had me teared up as well as that was my anthem basically growing up in the 50's and 60's....
Enough rambling from this old grampa - but it's so good to see you back...
    Take care and God bless!

These guys are all so talented. They lean towards country but they can do any genre including R&B. Rob sang this with so much soul. They all can take the lead depending on whos voice is best for the song. Tim is one of the best bass singers out there & their beatboxer Adam can simulate any sound. Separately they are all amazing, but when they come together it is perfection.

Loved the reaction and comments; 100% dead on! Rob is a beast, the true workhorse of the group before Adam Chance came along!!! Explanation: Rob was the key in the group, tying everything together and making it all work; the lows, the highs, and the mids - not only vocally but instrumentally as well. Home Free's sound and ability is/was rare; even more rare with the addition of Chance, creating a whole new depth to HF that not sure was realized at the time as the replacement for ChrisR - sharing blends/harmonies with Rob. Chance has really expanded the limits; those limits just haven't been reached yet -------- And Oh So Good It Is!!!!

If you want to hear music by Austin Brown, he's done cover of "At Last" - in the same key as Etta James. He's also done absolutely magnificent versions of "Bring Him Home" and "Unchained Melody." Tim Foust has released an album called "Pieces of Me." In it, he displays his passion for doo wop. One of the singles from the album, "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay," will give you his full range.

I've been a musician for over 40 years playing drums in bands and vocals and know this to be true...music to be perfect must be at 100%. Not 90%, not 110%. Everybody has their own part to play and their own percentage of the total. Play or sing over you percentage and the music turns bad. Home Free are master's at doing 100% each and every time. What goes on behind the lead is always the most fun to listen to for me.

Oh, Christi! It’s so nice to see you back with the Home Fries! This is a stunner and and ongoing favorite. They’ve done some wonderful releases since you’ve been gone. Super reaction and coaching on this one. Always excited to hear you when you cover my favorite vocal group.

Hi Christi, you should check out Helplessly Hoping if you haven't already. It's wonderful. Adam Chance, Rob and Austin primarily in the lead but all of Home Free play a beautiful part in their rendition. Also have to agree with many of the comments about Brothers in Arms. Great rendition as well. Thanks for your reaction and comments!

Home Free are very good about letting everyone shine. It took a little while for Chance to come into his own with the group but after the first few videos he really hit his stride. I think it is because Chris Rupp liked to arrange the music and preferred to not to take the lead very often. With Chance on board they had to change the dynamics and have four leads. I have noticed that on some of the Tim Foust originals that there is a beefier part for Chance. Tim shares the wealth with his fellow bass singer. Tim's Snow Globe and Land of the Free are examples where the bass and baritone lead.

Rob doesn't lead often, but its memorable when he does. You should react to Home Free's original song, "Why Not", which is another one where Rob takes lead. Its actually one of my favorite Home Free songs.

Rob rises to the occasion here. I'm going to echo those who recommend Brothers in arm. Another one with Rob prominent is Go Rest High on that Mountain. The video is touching but their is a live version too.

So happy you're back! We've missed you! And I do hope life has gotten much better for you. ❤️ I absolutely love the run they do right out of Tim's solo. It's phenomenal! Loved your analysis, per usual. Thx! Btw: as already mentioned, "Brothers In Arms" will leave you covered in chills from beginning to end! It's a stellar piece.

Adding to the comment train. I've seen some good suggestions for some Rob centric songs, one I didn't see was "Go Rest High On That Mountain". It the at the heart strings. "Colder Weather" is also a great song. But then again I say that about any of their songs. 🤣 Now, songs I really love right now, "Brother's In Arms" for harmony perfection and "Helplessly Hoping" for their best blending. Have a great day!!

If you want to hear Rob at the absolute best he's ever sounded, check out "Catch Me If You Can". They had all planned to record the lead and then decide what they liked best. Rob went first and everyone else immediately agreed to not even waste their time.

I think the massive groove laid down behind everything starts with the foundation. As all good construction does. That would be Adam and Tim. The beatboxing and Tim's bass lines are impeccable. Of course this is a studio recording set to a video. So just as with any musical group we might like that does studio albums, they've maxed their performance and get the takes that work. I'm not saying they can't do it live, they can, I've heard them. But the studio affords some control not afforded in a live performance. I love these guys.

How come you haven't done any HF reactions since this one? They have so many beautiful covers and originals to react to. You should react to How Great Thou Art. There's no beat boxing and you actually get to hear Adam sing a tiny solo. He's not only a phenomenal beat boxer but he also has a beautiful singing voice. Watch Adam. When he stops beat boxing and starts harmonizing 99% of the time he stops moving almost as if he doesn't want to draw attention to himself. Our guys NEVER disappoint!!!! I love your reactions and would absolutely love to see much much more HF. Give me some more and I'll happily subscribe
