  • Ford Fiesta Active B & O, a car with style, practicality and a go anywhere attitude, we test the 100ps 1 litre EcoBoost 6 Speed Automatic model, with the B & O I.C.E
    This model is just £23,000 however the range starts at just over £18,000.00, a funky car with optional LED headlamps a raised ride height and low traction mode.

    Looks really cool, raised ride, lovely interior and quality finish, handling and ride and Bang & Olufson system. However, for the money, you would really need to want one to have it over an MG SUV with a 7 year warranty. This Fiesta Active shouts out Approved Used to me all day long.

      It’s an interesting one the Active range, an suits the UK market well, it’ll be interesting to see overtime if MG increase their prices as their vehicles evolve, thank you Sean

    Lee, what’s the seating position like for you as a tall driver ? I’m 6’5 and struggle with legroom on smaller cars.

    Wow these fiestas are getting massive!!!would you say it’s the same size as a mk1 focus? I love the design of the interior with the orange touches. A sporty version of this would be cool

      In a word yes, with that ride height too it looks tall, it’s very impressive with the anodised finishes and soft touch materials.

    Be careful when buying the automatic transmission because for some reason the 2019 and 2020 models don’t include any manual downshifter & upshifter as standard.
    The 2018 and 2021+ models come with manual mode as standard on the steering wheel ie paddle shifters

    Only issue so far, had to get drivers door protector replaced under warranty as it broke at end, enhanced part looks more quality all round
    they replaced passenger front for good measure

    Can you notice much of a difference with the height of the car getting in. Got the ecosport at the moment and my 92 year old mother finds it to high to get in but my old fiesta to low

    • @PlanetautoUK
      @PlanetautoUK  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question, I’d say it was noticeably higher than the Fiesta, at 18mm more however the EcoSport was higher *ben

    This car does not have a Powershift gearbox. The Powershift was a dual clutch automated manual. Ford (thankfully) does not use this type anymore due to the amount of problems and warranty claims its poor reliability resulted in. The current Fiesta (including the Active), Ecosport and Focus use a torque converter auto. Also highly amused by the Bang & "Offalson" stereo!, i'm sure Bang & Olufson won't mind the link to animal entrails etc..........

    • @PlanetautoUK
      @PlanetautoUK  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This 1L Turbo had a 6 speed Powershift, yes the pronunciation leaves a lot to be desired 😆 thank you bad

    • @badbusdriver7160
      @badbusdriver7160 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PlanetautoUK No, it doesn't. It has a 6 speed torque converter auto. The Powershift is a dual clutch automated manual, which Ford stopped using (due to terrible reliability) in the Fiesta upon the introduction of the MK7 in 2017, the Focus upon the introduction of the MK4 in 2018, and the Ecosport as from the 2018 facelift.

      The car we had does, it says clearly on our press car details, and spec sheet and is listed as the box on numerous online reviews including Honest John.

    • @badbusdriver7160
      @badbusdriver7160 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PlanetautoUK I have read the Honest John roadtest of the Active and there is no mention of a Powershift gearbox, in the 'engine/transmission' page of the test, the only auto option is listed as a 6 speed torque converter auto. Furthermore, and this is a direct quote from the 1st page of HJ's review of the MK7 Fiesta, "Significantly, after all the trouble with Getrag Poweshift dry clutch packs, Ford has reverted to a 6 speed torque converter auto for the 2018 Fiesta". I was in a Suzuki dealership today looking at the Swift and the salesman (who certainly should known), had no idea what kind of gearbox the Swift auto has. So surely it is more likely that the press pack you recieved with the car was incorrect?. But hey, i'm not going to argue about it. But just to let anyone who may have been put off the car due to the mention of "Poweshift" (as well they should), don't worry about it, the car doesn't have one!.
      As to whether or not Ford has cured the 1.0 Ecoboost engine's own reliability issues, well that remains to be seen...........

    • @PlanetautoUK
      @PlanetautoUK  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/ford/fiesta-active-2018/data/ it’s clearly written on one of the specs ,the press sheet also lists P/Shift

    How reliable is this new model proving so far, I can’t see any data for it?

    • @PlanetautoUK
      @PlanetautoUK  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you - All we can comment on is how it performed for us, and it drove very well, and returned decent mileage - it didn’t skip a beat. Keep an eye on Ford press for data updates.

    A base Fiesta active was sold out of the factory for just 11000euro. A tag price of over 20000 was excessive. The rest are taxes and dealership profit. Sadly Fiesta was killed by greed.

  • @piglet5287

    It's a good enough car, but think what else you could buy for £23k. Mid-range Octavia or Golf, even a Skoda Karoq. Or if your priorities are different, a base model Toyota Prius. All of which are larger and more grown-up cars. The review glosses over the price problem

    • @PlanetautoUK
      @PlanetautoUK  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We don’t see the price as a problem, bear in mind this is high spec. Realistically you can get a w12 Bentley Continental GT, second hand granted for around 20k. People don’t always want a family size car, maybe it’s a second or car for the family to use. Small cars sell well they are versatile, cheap to insure and economical. Horses for courses as it were, thank you.

    • @piglet5287
      @piglet5287 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PlanetautoUK I can't help feeling, if it's a small car I want, a Seat Ibiza would do just fine and cost about 8k less. Manufacturers are crafty and will exploit the fashion for jacked up, plastic clad confections with high-margin products like Fiesta Active. But if you really need off road ability, real 4x4s are made by Suzuki and Fiat and still cost less than the Fiesta.

    • @PlanetautoUK
      @PlanetautoUK  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can see you like VWG, formally VAG, yes there are lots of options, the MG ZS is great for the money, yet not as refined as the Fiesta, the Karoq is superb as is the Kodiaq, a lot of it is brand loyalty and staying close to what the owner expects, realistically a 4 cab pickup is even an option, very good off-road and comfortable for 4 people. Great discussing this, thank you

    • @piglet5287
      @piglet5287 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PlanetautoUK yes I mentioned Seat and Skoda because they tend to be keenly priced. Corners may have been cut though: search "Arona moose test" on TH-cam to see what I mean! Btw I enjoyed your review of the Ka+ Active as well
