I really liked the Rhyze single "What Can I Do About This Feeling". That one definitely has some staying power. The kind of song that you are singing to yourself all day long after listening to it. All of the singles were good. But the last one was good plus. Thanks for sharing them all~ Rob/Boston
Thanks Rob, I really love that one too. It sounds quite retro for a tune from 1981, but maybe it's just timeless. You're right, it can really stick in your mind. Cheers! Laurence
Nice! I've been picking up lots of 45s lately. Just trying to get those one hit wonders and or some singles that were never released on full albums. I'm also just picking up some that are songs that I really love.
Cheers Andy, that's nice to hear. I'll give it a go with the toothpick, but a bit nervous to be honest. I've had that record for years, but never dared to try it.
You need a steady hand but apply a little pressure against the arm in the forward direction. Try it a few times and it should correct the skip permanently. You could also look at the grooves with a microscope and use an eraser to soften the rough edge. I had this figured out at like 4 years old literally. I used to fix my babysitter's records. I found a more permanent way: cds but not everything's available but most stuff is.
We'll see how it goes... I'm just a bit nervous to mess it up. Funnily enough, I get the dame problem with CDs... probably because my player is old and has dust in it. Cheers!
My copy was skipping in the same spot his so put in reverse and got of it after doing that a few if your turntable doesn't have a reverse switch just off the power and manually if the scratch isn't too bad it's works about 75% of the time
great suggestion below about applying pressure towards the center of the label. keep in mind this is styrene so take a second before putting needle in same spot more than once as quick multiple plays causes cue burn distortion due to friction/heat. learnt this the hard way (more than once!)
Re: skipping record. I’ve had some success using a wooden toothpick to move back and forward in the offending spot. Quite often there is a piece of residue blocking the stylus, and the toothpick can dislodge it. You need to have a good idea of where on the record is actually occurs which is the tricky part!
@6inchpianist hi John, Innovation 2 is worth looking out for, but some of them can be pricey. It took me nearly 10 years to find the windy city one. The ebony rhythm funk campaign have a good one on that label that's a bit easier to find, but whatever the case, the hunt is all part of the fun! Cheers, Laurence
Do you have a different set up for 45s? There is a lot of distortion when you get halfway through a track. And I saw some people on an online forum talking about how the tracking angle effect this. So people have a separate turntable set up for just playing 45s.
Looking at the videos, you're right, but I'll be honest, I don't have a clue about the technical side of turntables. I think I'll tweet the anti skating and see it that calms it down. Cheers!
@AsTheTableTurns oh right... well, I don't hear much distortion when I play 45s. The only thing is the needle seems to sway a fair bit. It sounds a bit weird that that happens to you though... more investigation perhaps?
@AsTheTableTurns I had one of those before, and it was fine, but after a while, I noticed it got bent and wasn't hitting the record at the right angle, so I changed it. Apparently, that's quite common and can damage records.

Cheers Zal, always a pleasure!

The best thing is that they take up less space, but they can be highly addictive so proceed with caution!
"I still love you" is the cut from Windy City.
It's a nice one, shame it's not on the album. I think it came out later.
Just for you was another cut was that good too
Great Video as always! Thumbs up! Trish
Thanks Trish, glad you enjoyed!
Am really enjoying these 5 45s videos. Hope you manage to clear that “stick” on that record. So frustrating when that happens!

I have heard this, so I might have to take the plunge. Don't want to make it worse, though! Thanks for the tip, cheers
Blimey. You’ve picked out a few gems there! I don’t have anything on the Innovation II label. Never heard that Windy City tune. Love that!

@@melomano4145 Oh, I wasn't referring to your playback on the video but what I've experienced on my setup. Are you noticing the same on yours?

@@melomano4145 Yeah, It could be just my stylus. I see that you're using an ortofon. I have the basic audio technica green cartridge.
