I think the part that breaks my heart the most is when she sees her body and finds out that she’s dead, she doesn’t say “How could this happen?” Or “Why did this have to happen?” Instead, she says “Oh no, what have I done?” What have I done. The fact that she blames herself for being hit by a car even though she did look both ways before crossing the road. It was not her fault that she got hit, but she blames herself, which implies that she’s taken blame for things that weren’t her fault many times. And now I’m crying-
My theory: When she returns to the house and its empty, it has actually been months or years since she has died and her mother has then moved on and recovered from her death. Then she "travels" back when the Voice brings her back to the beginning when she finds out she had died.
That would make sense since at the beginning there was only one missing person paper. Then over time the numbers of those missing children only grew and grew.
it's sad that Morgo (the voice) has taken better care of her than her parents, he has comforted her and he even told her about periods (my mother didn't tell me about it and she's still an amazing mother) tbh the real villan in this story is her dad :((
Hes playing with her, manipulating her and torturing her. There are some implications that the Playthrough isnt her first Rodeo and given how desolate the house is when she returns it must have been Months if not Years since she died. Its very likely she went through this day many many times before the player takes over and guides her Soul to being rescued by Benjamin.
It's actually a good representation of how child preds groom their victims. They prey on children who have neglectful parents that really don't care; even better if the parents are a busive. The groomer will take on a role of kindness that the child rarely experiences, and because they're so desperate for love and validation they'll end up doing anything for it. I'm not saying this is an allegory of the game but it's quite suitable as an example of how it works or can work.
I was waiting for Morgo to be like "Alright, I know I'm supposed to eat you, but I've changed my mind. I'm adopting you." I know it was manipulation but I love the dynamic so much. Powerful or evil demon creature becoming friends or parental figure for innocent child. I don't know why I love it so much...I just love the idea of something that's supposed to be cold and evil showing mercy or genuine affection for something innocent. Even demons have the power to show compassion.
Btw a little background on the lore. This takes place in Sweden due to clues like the word "Olycka" meaning accident in Swedish. And also how the creator used a fox as Little Misfortune's guardian angel. See in Nordic folklore animals such as bears, foxes, and etc where used as guides for lost souls to the underworld. Also the police uniform is a Swedish uniform.
In the end, during the extended ending, (which i assume you have to glitter all the right objects for) it made me tear up so bad, but in the end, Misfortune got what she wanted: her mothers eternal happiness. The thing that really makes it worth it is that we get to see the mother smile at the end. Not a joyful smile, but a warm one Also, i hope the father gets sentenced to life
When she said that she realized she was already dead and her mommy couldn't see her bRUh And the last word she said to her " I guess I was your lil misfortune for a while , you have to find you own happiness , " " I'll Love you forever "
@@dumbegirl5769 yea and also the skeleton picking berries in the afterlife world appeared in fb too, his name was itward i think. the games actually take place in the same universe
“I guess I was your little misfortune for a while...But you need to find your own happiness now.” Games hitting me too hard with words. The mom only tried to act happy and stayed with the father because she felt a maternal responsibility to care for her daughter and give her daughter the best life she could have. When misfortune died the mother was sad but also relieved of all the worry and responsibly that she felt, knowing now that her daughter is in a much more pleasant place. The mother now has the opportunity to live life as her own instead of only living to care for her daughter’s wellbeing while having to constantly deal with the father as well. Both characters are better off that way and these games are too much for my feeble emotions to handle. My brain doesn’t know weather to make me happy or sad so why not both at the exact same time.
In that sentence, little misfortune doesn’t have caps, meaning that Misfortune actually thought that she was a burden to her mother. (Or it was a typo and I’m overthinking it)
@@sourememesyt7764 Yeah that freaked me out - and besides in a real knock knock joke the person with the joke is the one that says knock knock. The other person says who's there. It was like how was miss fortune going to make the joke and the punch line. It make no sense! Creepy Mr Voice!
“There is no right or wrong, only consequences” *The Game only has two ending, neither of which is not acually achieved by any choice and are almost identical*
It’s so devastating to know that she blamed herself even when she was the one hurt. And that her mom probably found peace that she has no one to take care of.
preferred to think that in the end she will always be in her mother's heart even though she is no longer physically there, she is relaxed because she already knows that she is in a much better place and will no longer need her attention...
"Eternal Happiness." He didn't lie completely. He actually helped her mother, freeing her from her father and Misfortune going to a much better place. In the end, I didn't hate Mr. Voice completely. Since she died anyway, it wasn't for no reason. When the fuck did I post this? I don't remember watching this. Am I losing my mind?
But mr. Voice killed her. He lured her into the road with his "game". If mr. Voice had the power to kill her, he had the power to kill her father *and* let misfortune live happily with her mother freeing the both of them from his abuse.
the skid marks were there from the start though. and those were definitely from when she got hit. i'm pretty sure mr. voice didn't show up before she died. and he clearly wanted her for himself. he never intended to give anyone eternal happiness. i don't see any reason to talk about him like he's somehow good in all of this.
A lot of people thought that the choices not mattering in the end was bad writing, but I think it just adds to the fact that no matter what misfortune does, she isn't in control. The voice controls the outcome, and will find a way to get the one he desires.
What makes this ending so deep is because it's her daughter who was run off by her husband who was drinking and driving (i suppose). If I had such a wonderful daughter and my wife was drunk and ran her off, I'd be absolutely devastated. But her mother was given eternal happiness and she knew she was in a better place. She's such a nice little lady.
Definitely her dad. At the beginning scene where she broke the vase in her house, there's a picture of a blue car, framed and hanged next to her parent's wedding photo. It looks like the car that caused her death.
I still cant get over Death's voice in this. Its just so sweet, and her last line you can hear almost a little smile as she said 'We were expecting you'. Just so gosh darn welcoming to Misfortune
@@allanpanganiban5111 the father abused the mother which caused so much stress to the point where she starts drinking and smoking to the point where she doesn’t notice anyone around her. Causing Misfortune to open the door cross the street get hit by the father and gets the father sent to jail which gives the mother eternal happiness because she’s freed from the father who beat her up. Hence the father is the reason this whole story ends with the daughters death. Comment is copied from Team Delta 's response to someones comment, because i cant speak or write in english that well (not my first language)
Just went back to rewatch the ending, and I think when she finds Benjamins papers explaining the parasyte (Mr. Voice) and different dimensions, it is said that the victim will forget their true identity, so she named herself after what she thought she was to her mom, or her family, misfortune. That would also explain why misfortune isn't capitalized in her final words to her mother.
Oh. My. God. I am DYING! And crying! In the second ending she gets her mother eternal happiness! I've watched someone play this before, but they didn't get that ending. I realized as soon as I saw the ball form that that was the eternal happiness. I hope you live forever in happiness, Lady Misfortune's mother.
Okay but when Benji, Misfortune and the party dog were walking all together at the end, I saw the little pine cone people then the beetlepigs and thought “oh cool! They sprinkled in some Fran Bow references!” Then I saw Itward and freaked out because how freaking cool is it that these games are connected
Actually, I saw someone commenting that the Creator of Fran Bow and Misfortune (which is the same person) is making a new game but with the Two universe of this game, colliding. That's why at the end you could see a bit of a reference from the game Fran Bow.
Yeah it's very likely it's the same universe as the entrance to the 'death place' looks a lot like where Remor lives. I suppose the world where Benjamin takes her is the universal intersection of all the realms
Yeah, the references to Fran Bow at the end are cool because it suggests that Little Misfortune is passing through the different realities detailed in Fran Bow.
I literally just got done playing and seeing misfortune cry when she saw her mom really had me anxious because she was a trooper through the whole game so i wasnt sure what to expect ... then it hit me ALL AT ONCE. Z
@@awattpadwriter9575 And the crappy reality that she was in. I mean, just look at the masks everyone is wearing. Besides Misfortune, there is absolutly not a single human that shows their face because they are wearing that mask pretending to be happy when everything is a goddamn mess. I too think that Misfortune was a light among the darkness, because even when she got verbally and physically abused by his father, she never stopped being positive or innocent or hopeful. I can almost say with complete confidence that she was pure.
She could of had her happiness which is why she seemed happy most of the time and wanted to help her mom and that’s how it all started? Idk I’m guessing =P

She was dead from the start of the game from her dad its just sad to see her body with her glitter truly a good representation of the name. Makes you tear up
The mother did care, albeit did not show it with her numerous examples of neglect, for her daughter, hence the crying, but when she is smiling I think it is because she is happy to pursue her happiness now that her ,,little misfortune'' is dead. Quite a sad game.
she doesn't care. she has her mask on the entire time she's putting on a show to the police while being questioned- she takes it off when he leaves and smiles because she is HAPPY that her daughter died and her husband will be sent to jail. she sucks
@@pixlluv But... the masks aren't there to hide someone's motive, during the playthrought, you can see a mask shop labelled as ":) HappyFace" and then little misfortune pays attention to it and probably reads the ad thingie, which says "Let's face it. Use HappyFace and stop pretending!" people here probably are *depressed*, that's why she had her mask on, and her mother at least do care a little bit, as seen at the end, when she takes off her own mask, she has black tears (probably due to makeup) but she cried, she was there. and she took off her mask and smiled, probably because her daughter would probably be in a better place than here, her own home of course how she acted towards Little Misfortune SUCKS and shouldn't be excused, she did care a little bit at least

One interesting implication is that Benjamin is a low level protector and this is one of his first assignments as his journal talks about the training progress he made. This means morgo was a low level threat and there are far worse parasites out there
Its so sad that it took Misfortune’s death for her mother to realize just how much her daughter meant but its amazing how she can finally take off her mask and realize that her daughter is much better in a safer and happier place.
Voice: pokes misfortunes face Bengamin: **breaks through window** *FBI OPEN UP* Edit: thx i wasnt expecting this to be popular Edit again: HOLY SH*T ITS BEEN 6 MONTHS HOW DID I GET 2K :0000
Damn so it makes you think that since Morgo and the little dolls Benjamin left for Misfortune mentioned that "as soon as you walked the path there was no going back" is for us to realize that as soon as she crossed the road to start the game is the moment she dies and the rest of the game is a fight for her soul. Or at least that's how I'm interpreting it.
If you have watched someone play the full game or have played the pull game yourself, have you realised that her name is not actually Misfortune? My theory: When she follows benjamin to the little hut, she finds his diary and has to option to read it or not. If she does, in it Benjamin says thay Misfortune is a code name. At this point we either start questioning it, or we are led to believe that this is just a misunderstanding. Misfortune IS an unusual name after all. But later she finds the secret exit, exits and finds Benjamins bag on the floor. In the bag there is a scroll sort of thing. She reads it. It has many things in it. One of the things it a list of things Morgo (Mr Voice's real name) can do to to his victim. The first one is "Make the victim forget his/her identity". Misfortune being a code name and Morgo being able to make her forget har real name and 'rename' her Misfortune is possibly not her real name.
@Coldstalebread Sticks But Ramirez and Hernandez are surnames, not names. I know this because those are surnames in spanish language, and I'm a native spanish-speaker myself.
So what I can tell, any decision you make in the game literally has zero affect on the ending and the only thing that really causes a change in the end is whether you sparkle everything or not?
Damn it made me tear up , seeing her own dead body laying on the ground. Also seeing her mommy devastated and she can't hear misfortune. She unknowingly gave up her own life but in return gave her mom happiness. Even with all the crazy and dark stuff she had to go threw , she still was positive til the end. In a way I'm glad she didn't grow up to be tainted by the cruel realities of adulthood. Y'know she could of lost her sparkle as she got older much like her parents and neighbors. She now can forever be herself . Happy and thoughtful . Watching over her loved ones or something else who knows what the game team has in mind for the future.

Voice: You weren’t suppose to do that
Misfortune was already dead. Her death is what allows Mordo to trap her in his game.
It's Guillermo 2.0 LMAO
it's sad that Morgo (the voice) has taken better care of her than her parents, he has comforted her and he even told her about periods (my mother didn't tell me about it and she's still an amazing mother) tbh the real villan in this story is her dad :((
Hes playing with her, manipulating her and torturing her.
I'm not saying this is an allegory of the game but it's quite suitable as an example of how it works or can work.
he might be manipulating and kinda torturing her but he's the one who actually treated her better unlike her parents

Cool! I was always interested in Nordic culture! Thanks for the info!

In the end, during the extended ending, (which i assume you have to glitter all the right objects for) it made me tear up so bad, but in the end, Misfortune got what she wanted: her mothers eternal happiness. Games hitting me too hard with words.

The fact her mom really cared about her shocked me since the story made her parents seem like villains.
The mother did care, albeit did not show it with her numerous examples of neglect, for her daughter, hence the crying, but when she is smiling I think it is because she is happy to pursue her happiness now that her ,,little misfortune'' is dead. Quite a sad game.

Use HappyFace and stop pretending!" people here probably are *depressed*, that's why she had her mask on, and her mother at least do care a little bit, as seen at the end, when she takes off her own mask, she has black tears (probably due to makeup) but she cried, she was there. and she took off her mask and smiled, probably because her daughter would probably be in a better place than here, her own home

Anastasia Christofidis wow. I was wondering why exactly her name is misfortune.
Coldstalebread Sticks makes sense!!

@Coldstalebread Sticks possibly
Yes because that sparkle is the eternal happiness
Yeah, but when you think abt it that rlly adds symbolism to the game
So again Morgon lied to Misfortune saying that every option matters... When all that matters is that she crossed the road and she already died
