Good doing on the brake light. I had an Africa Twin years ago that I bought with the hopes on riding it to Washington and back. It was brand new, I wanted to break in the engine and do the first service before taking it up north. I was riding around Big Bear and had about 300mi on the bike, so halfway to break in. I came to a stop in construction and got rear ended…. HARD. Got pushed into the car in front of me and had my left foot ran over. Had to yell at the guy to reverse so I could keep custody of my foot. Anyways, that bike got totaled and I’m still alive. Getting rear ended is no joke! Trust nobody!
Holy crap that’s a wild situation. Glad you’re alright. I have eyes glued on my mirrors at stops trying to determine who is not planning on slowing down before reaching me. That has saved me twice so far. Thanks as usual for watching, Mr. President
9 months after posting, and this video still is helpful. Months ago, I emailed Andrew to ask what tail light flasher he used, and he personally e-mailed me back with the information. I installed one and it is great. I decided to watch the video again the other day to see what other ideas I might get for my 2020 HPE Super Tech, and I noticed the jump start box at 13:45. I keep a larger one in my truck and bought them for all my kids, but I had never seen one so small that could easily be carried in my pet carrier. I ordered it on Amazon and 3 days later it came in the mail today. It is very small and seems very well made. The instructions are very comprehensive and written in perfect English. So thanks again for this video. This one, along with your video on how to resent the wrench light on the Super Tech, have been so helpful.
Had to take a break from the scooter walkthroughs. I can only show someone where the turn signals are so many times before I’m bored out of my mind. 😆 And maaaan that bike is dirty. It’s way worse than it looks on camera.
Cool vid. Long time Vespa Motorsport viewer, now a new sub here. STOP n GO has saved my butt over a dozen times in like 5 years of NYC commuting. Kit is larger than most tire plug kits but you’ll appreciate the ease of use with its tools especially if it’s cold out. Totally gonna AirTag my bike now.
Great video...I finally got around to watching it. Yeah...I used my McCuff a lot when I first got it. Now I only use it on longer trips or when I won't be riding near gas stations.
Cool video. One thing I use on my Vespa is a wireless tire pressure monitoring system. It gives me peace of mind and saves time in regards to having manually check the tires for low pressure.
Those are cool! We had a scooter in here the other day with a little box mounted on the mirror with at readout of the pressure. For me I just wait until the ASR starts to hesitate before I know I need to add some air. Thanks for watching and enjoy those upcoming rides!
I have the same model, got mine after my 2006 lx150 was stolen and recovered the same night, it was a great upgrade, I just updated to the euro running lights bought the kit from vespa motorsport.
Thanks for posting. I'm relatively new to the piaggio scene. I own the brand new aprilia sr gt 125 witch has the piaggio medley 125 engine in. I always look forward to your videos as they are highly enjoyable and plus I've learnt a few things from your channel. Keep up the great work. Take care 😀👍🇬🇧
@@VespaPortland there should be a co2 cartridge and valve adapter in that kit no? That’s how I roll with mine anyway. I also keep a short folding (like maybe 10”?) cycle pump in the seat box as well to top up from where the co2 stops. You don’t want to put 200+ cranks from dead flat by hand with a small air pump! 😂

Oh, such auspicious timing, Andrew! I got my 2022 SuperTech a few weeks ago (replacing my 2015 GTS Super that got trashed in December, as told to you in a different video thread), and I'm loving it to pieces, even though it has just a bit over 200 miles on it. Had the dealer put Koso heated grips and Buchsenfuchs' replacement rear tone ring for improving speedo accuracy and (so I'm told) increasing the bike's top end back into the low 80s. Impatiently awaiting a shipment from SIP for a Euro-spec Flyscreen (just like yours, and what I had on my previous GTS), and "minimalist" Cuppini crashbars, as well as that all-important sight-glass-equipped oil pan. I have the same phone-charging setup as you, but actually found a flat-profile USB cable that works better with the glove-box door closed (took some looking online, but they exist; try Micro Center). Will be upgrading the turn-signals to the setup Scooterwest offers at some point, but will get the brake-light modulator a lot sooner for the reasons you mentioned. (But the reflectors stay put: I know there are drivers out there that will claim they "didn't see you" even if you were lit up like Elvis in Vegas, but in my experience, every little bit helps.) Thanks again for this video, and yes, your SuperTech rocks. (Would've liked that color myself, but I'm cool with Nero Convinto Matte.) (P.S. I'm *very* curious about that as-yet-unused gas-filler thingie you were gifted with…might you - ahem - fill us in about it at some point?)
That’s all very cool to hear. I may make that a video in the future. I should probably try it out first to actually understand how it works. Thanks for writing.
Ha, I was writing a comment asking about oil consumption and you started talking about it. Has any oil burning reduced after putting miles on the bike? I heard some of them will stop consuming after 10k miles or so, or even when adding heavier oil. Does the new iget engine consume in the same way?
I’m about 2000 miles away from 10k and I’m curious if it’ll slow down. It’s not terrible as is but I need to add a little more oil every 2500 miles or so. Thankfully the service interval is right around there (every 3k) so it gets refreshed soon even if I forget. No issues with the primavera/sprint iGet engines that we know if. Those scooters are reliable as hell.
@@VespaPortland great, thanks! I was also wondering if the oil consumption issue was solved after 2020. I read something like that on a forum but I’m not sure.
@@charkswitlazers The dealer where I bought my '22 SuperTech tells me they've addressed the issue within the last two model-years.
