I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.
I just did something similar. Went to the local Stihl dealership & bought a blade with a 24mm hole, reverse thread nut, and that cup thing. Went home, installed it, and it works great. Sure the splined nut would probably help, but I don't think it's needed in practice.

I got a thrust washer from the Husqvarna shop that had 4 larger teeth. I filed them down so they cleared the teeth on the shaft and put it all back together. I feel a bit safer with the thrust washer holding the blade down.

You can read Europe BCA1200 Manual to find out whether the washer is needed, see picture M in the manual. I only saw the rider plate (out flange) and nut. if you watch, you can see the EGO out flange has the 14-tooth build on the bottom.

Very cool, thank you I just purchased and waiting for it via mail. They haven't come out with it in the US except one place I found in CT. Saw blade isn't offered. At least it doesn't mention in description. If it is does I will update.👍

Hi there, saw this video, bought all the same parts / attachments, started up nicely, tried both blades on a few sample brushes (mainly maple brush regrowing from cut down trees) and all worked well. Went full force in clearing brush, nicked a larger brush, heard a crank / grinning noise and now the string attachment makes a grinding noise (regardless of blade or even stringer re-attached). Any thoughts and help welcomed, thank you.
You cut stuff that is not made to handle by this trimmer, SIMPLE AS THAT.. You don't use a butter knife to cut down a cotton wood tree.... USE THE CORRECT TOOL FOR JOB......

Hi! Yes, EGO have a 14 and a 16 inch chain saw + a 10 inch pole saw. I think the EGO brush cutter is more powerful than the Milwaukee. Have a good day!
The pole saw chain saw works quite well. You need to watch the tension and keep the feed cleared of brush.

Hello! Thank you for your comment. The washer that people are talking about is usually a washer with a serrated shape inside that overlaps with the central shaft. Since I did not manage to find the piece in question, I did not install it. I use my tool this way for 2 years without any problem. I know that in Europe they have the kit with the 3 points blade but I am not sure for Canada / US. I think it should fit this model..

mdbrescia - The 3 tooth blade is okay. Even the company sell it in Europe. Don't buy the circular blade it will damage your engine. It's too heavy and give big kick back. If you want to cut large wood your better with the 10" EGO Pole Saw!
I tried this, it worked but it’s missing a piece to secure the blade. You should have a washer with teeth on the inside to clamp down the blade before you install the guard. But the washer which came with my stihl kit has 10 teeth and ego needs 14 teeth.

Just purchased the Ego combo kit. My trimmer only came with a hammer style wrench and Allen wrench as you show on the video. Where did you get the smaller wrench that you use to tighten the nut on the blade?
You'll find accessories in stores that sell items like chain saws.

My String Trimmer Kit number is: MST1501 on egopowerplus.com. I think the 3 Tooth blade is 11.2 Ounces (0,68lbs)

After you took off the trimmer head you removed the washer and replaced with a new washer and plate. Where did you get these? The attachment kit you’re linking also has a 10-tooth washer. We’ve all noting, the shaft has 14 grooves. Anyone find a way to fix this??
In my case I never found the washer that worked with the EGO shaft. But anyway it works very well. I use this method for almost 2 years.
Ego manual for the line head says "Do not install metal or plastic cutting blades"
And even with the blade head attachment it says "Do not install round cutting blades."
However the line head attachment and blade attachment appear (from pictures) to be the same. So I'm trying to find info on if they are indeed the same, and where I can find the correct parts that are missing from the line head. They are not the parts in this video.
Yeah.. i do not recommend a circular blade on it. It is fine with the 3 points blade. Even EGO sell a 3 points blade. No problem with my Setup in 3 years now.
Hi, you list two Stihl part numbers but you show 4 adapters being installed? What are they? Have you used a Foresrer chainsaw blade?
If you take a look at 2 minutes 23 you will notice that the 2 parts are already on the original tool. The way I present it can be confusing. Then you have to add 2 pieces. The Plate and the Bolt. I never tried a Foresrer chainsaw blade.

a blade and accessories that must be purchased separately.
I do not recommend using the circular blade because it could damage your engine. Instead uses Ego's 3-point blade or the Pole Saw to cut larger tree diameters.

Hello. No, I no longer use the circular blade because I believe it damaged something inside the engine. Luckily it still works. It is better to use the Pole Saw instead. However, the 3 points blades work well and are even sold by EGO in the 12 inch range.
I bought the Stihl Blade Nut 4126-642-7600 and the Plate/Cup 4126-713-3100. The nut didn't fit properly. I used the original nut that secured the string trimmer. Is the Stihl "blade nut" necessary at all?

Hi! Go on egopowerplus.com to learn more on number parts. What i'm unboxing is the official STA1500 Package with the only existing ''Rapid Reload Head'' PART #AH1500. The STA1500 means, ''STRING TRIMMER ATTACHMENT'' who fits on the POWER HEAD SYSTEM
PART #PH1400. You can fit the Rapid Reload Head #AH1500 on the cheaper HomeDepot String Trimmer Versions. ( ST1500 Series) (2 models availables). The Package that I'm using right now is the Power Head + String Trimmer Attachment PART #MST1501. I have a full video of this unboxing. MST1501 is 540$CAN and the 2 models (ST1500Series) at HomeDepot are between 230$CAN and 345$CAN.
I have an older 12" string trimmer (Canada - Home Depot) Model ST1200. Anychance to find a conversion kit.
I tried the kit for the one with PoerHead and it does not fit.

I think it is one of the only one you can fit blades on. I don't know for each models. For me this Setup works very well.

Purchase the MST1501 Kit. Chek the website. It's the Power Head + STRING TRIMMER ATTACHMENT (It's the only one who fits this power head) + a 5.0 Battery. It's driven by a internal shaft.

What is in the video is the STA-1500 which is used with the PowerHead system. The ST1500 is a complete tool
with the motor attached. I think it is like the ST1200 (which i have) and i have not found parts yet to convert it to
a brush cutter. Have you had better luck Jim.
@@Sylvain.Fauvel I'm having the same problem - there is no base plate adapter that seems to fit. The threaded bolt piece is also smaller than the Stihl, so the nut, washer, and rider plate from the adapter kits on Amazon don't fit properly. I called Ego and they were unwilling to provide any details to help.

Très simple. Rend-toi dans un magasin qui vend de l'équipement d'entretien extérieur comme Stihl, Husqvarna, Echo, etc. et la plupart d'eux pourront te vendre les pièces avec des essaies / erreur en amenant ta tête de coupe herbe au comptoir.

Est-ce que le fait d'avoir transformé la tête à fil pour une scie circulaire a endommagé le moteur du weedeather à l'usure, avec le temps? Est-ce que tu t'en es servi beaucoup?
Il ny a pas de problème avec la lame 3 pointes, mais j'ai rapidement arrêté d'utiliser la lame ronde car c'était trop violent sur les Kick Back et mon moteur fait parfois un bruit anormale mais fonctionne encore bien. EGO vende la lame 2 pointe en plus grand diamètre que la mienne dans le vidéo.

Awesome Video Young man I was just looking at maybe buying a ego chainsaw pole style for long reach but this will work better and I have most of what u are using some where in one of my barns im sure thank you!! Cow}:-o)
I strongly advise you to buy the pole saw rather than the circular blade. After several tries, I found that the powerful kick-backs can damage the internal parts of the engine. The 3-Tooth blade is perfect for this machine in a 10 or 12 inch version, no problem. And you will have more runtime with the battery than with the string trimmer .095'' plastic line.
Yeah I saw the tooth count (24 tooth is used for Ripping wood not really cutting) on your Circular and thought i bet he gets too much kickback, im am replacing my old 36 tooth with 40 tooth carbide blade, A little trick you can do is...... AS for the 3 blade I have one of those on my old Gas set up so she I think will fit on that set up... the kickback is caused by the fast motion try going at it a bit slower and you wont get the shock /Kickback so hard....If i could just bush Hog near the house I would but now that my kids Show animals are in side the Homes area Fence Im going to try your idea if not ill just go back to using my Propane burner! The Stihl nut doesn't quite fit the threads on the EGO trimmer shaft. But the nut that I took off the trimmer, of course, does. How about a lock nut to hold the trimmer's nut on?
David Wiener - The Nut I use in the video have a plastic ring inside. I'm not 100% sure but I think that is a lock nut. I can tell you it works very very well! (The only thing.. I don't recommend the circular blade with this trimmer. It will damage the engine or shaft.)

Last summer I used the circular blade that you saw on the video. I was cutting many large trees (2'' and bigger) and I think it's all the big KickBacks that damage the shaft inside or a bearing. I have a video that show the strange sound it makes. Last summer I used it anyway but after a short time the engine was overheating, shutting down the engine. This year with the new season starting, with the same engine it doesn't overheat. And the circular blade that I used was too heavy. Buying the 10'' Pole saw is cheap and the way to go.

I didn't repair it yet. I try not to concentrate on the vibration and it's not too bad. I don't know if i'm too late for the waranty at the moment..
Unfortunately you can't do this with the newer models. They seemed to go out of their way to make them more proprietary when evolving on the newer string feed changes.
Will this work with the same model #’s he’s using? Or have they updated the technology of those models to make this option impossible?

So...what is the EGO Battery (56V) Power Head? Is it just one of the styles of trimmers? Does it have auto or push start? I retired to a place in Idaho with a big back yard; everyone recommended Stihl, so I bought one and wound up giving it to the teen-ager across the street because I do not have the arm strength and angle needed to start it. I want to get the EGO POWERLOAD trimmer with automatic start and be able to attach this brush cutter kit to it. Possible?
The PowerHead is a motor that you only buy once and that will operate several tools attached to the end. Like String Trimmer, Hedge Trimmer, Pole Saw, Rubber Broom and others. The tool is battery-operated so you only need to press 1 or 2 buttons at a time to operate it. No difficulties like gas engines. The model used in this video is not light because it is a very powerful machine compared to other ranges. If you purchase the MST1501 set as listed on www.egopowerplus.com + The 3 Tooth Metal Blade you should be able to do a good job. If your yard is too big, you will need to be patient. (If you have only 1 battery)
Thanks again...I went to Lowes, which is the only store in town that carries the line; no luck there. I have a hunch that Ace Hardware will carry it...or know how to order it for me.
@@laholly323 Don't go to these places. You better go to little stores that sells chainsaws, snowblower and all kind of small engine work tools. Every city have a places like that. They will be able to order EGO products.

I went to Ace Hardware today and they carry a lot of ego products--not that one--but will contact me because they actually are a distributor and can order one for me. These small stores are more expensive, generally, but in the end I think it is worth the money because service is so much better.
@@MarcAndreBlais encore une fois, ou je devrais dire, encore une autre question: I have read almost all the comments to your video, and it seems as though the adaptation has the possibility of causing damage to the motor. I heard back from the small tool store (Ace Hardware) and their response was that this system was only available in Europe. I contacted Ego US and they have a power head and lots of tools...but no brush cutters capacity like your adaptation. If we try to order from Canada, we have to work with a different electrical currency. I am going to write to Ego US and ask them to create the tool designed for all the attachments, since it seems to be different than the 56V. I ordered one of the kits that is for the Stihl but I have the EGO dedicated trimmer not the multi head. It did not fit. If anyone finds something that fits the Regular EGO trimmer let me know. I hate to buy another trimmer just for this but I got stuff to do lol.

Hello. I do not think it would work with the PowerLoad Model. If my memory is good, yes you can install this blade with the guard.

With this 2KW motor and the "Backpack Link" battery option, EGO appears to be ready to make a seriously credible play for the commercial market. Have you tried other line feed trimmer heads on this unit? Ones that simply unscrew from the main drive shaft like Stihl's units do? This is the first one I've seen where you have to take the cartridge cover off to unscrew the nut, but the main gear shaft looks identical to Stihl.
Scott Blanchard - The only thing I tried at the moment is what you see in the video. I have not tried other "cheaper" EGO string trimmer version. I'm soo happy with the EGO tools power. It really gives you the gaz power level. This week-end i'm at our family cabin on a island and I cleaned for the first time of the year all the tall grass. A very clean job with (2) 5Amp Battery and my little 2Amp battery on the string trimmer. I will be soon releasing a new video of me cutting very high bushes and grass with (1) 5Amp battery. (To show what can be done with only one battery)
Sounds great. Do you notice the weight difference between the 2.5ah and the 5ah batteries when using the trimmer? I have this kit on order with the 5ah and I'm thinking to get the "Backpink Link" battery adapter next. Do you think it would be wise?
Scott Blanchard - Honestly I barely noticed the diference. And with the extra weight of the 5Amp battery the trimmer have a better weight balance. I will buy a shoulder strap and test it soon.

It has nothing to do with generation. This is a old model with multi attachments tools. I don't think you can do this modification on many models. It's hard to know what model will be able to receive it. You need the help of a store employe that sells that kind of equipment.

Bonjour. Utiliser un disque de coupe donne des Kick Back très violent ce que je n'aie pas aimé. Une autre bonne raison, c'est que peut de temps après avoir couper de gros diamètres d'arbres mon moteur ces mis a faire un petit son étrange. Comme si ça avait abimer un Bearing. Je ne sais pas trop. J'utilise toujours le moteur sans problème, il va bien mais je peux percevoir un petit son ou vibration pas "d'origine".

@@charlesg2187 Ça fait plaisir. Maintenant j'utilise la lame 3 pointes. Je coupe facilement des diamètres de 1 pouce. Assure-toi que tes vis de différentiel soient bien serré car les coups peuvent à la longue faire pivoter le différentiel sur le shaft.

I'm noticing the stihl kit I ordered is using 10 tooth splined plate and washer, I havn't looked into installing it yet or checked my machine, but someone mentioned above that their EGO had 14 teeth spline..... so now I'm wondering.....

it doesn't work with every ego trimmer, my St1500sf won't take to this set up. I had to "custom" make parts to fit.
Any chance you know what parts you got to make it work?

The thrust washer for the stihl; I confirmed does not fit the ego. The guy who made the video says he’s been using it without the thrust washer and it’s been working. I would still like to find one. oh gosh, I just had a thought; what is the shaft slips just a little bit, and protects the shaft and the motor from damage? Safety is always concerned, but I cannot for see how not using the thrust washer could cause a safety issue. Does anyone know how this could be unsafe for the operator? It would have to be one hell of a kickback, when the cutting blade is on an eight foot pole. Certainly very dangerous to anyone near near you.
For 2 or 3 years, I have used the 3-point blade and it has worked very well ever since. I had no problem. Kickbacks are very rare with this blade. However, I no longer use the circular blade because it is extremely violent and dangerous. My motor makes a strange noise since I exaggerated its workload.
But thankfully it still works well. EGO sells a 3 points blade.
Once I tightened the bolt it didn’t worry me anymore not using the thrust washer (It’s obviously adequate).
