Been watching reviews for about 7 hours tonight about the sony 20-70 f4 G (got one on hold at camera store) also the 24-105 and the 24-70 gmii Its 2:30 am and just saw this review…… its the best of the lot I have watched this past week, full of real world images shot with the lens…… I think I might buy this one!!!! New to sony and full frame jumped away from fuji last week Sir Thankyou…… subbed
Thanks Pav. Concise and engaging review as always. I have the 16-28 and 28-70, but with this being a bit lighter now I'm tempted top just get one of these to keep feild trips abroad simpler. When you're hybrid shooting, lens changes and filter swaps are a real bind, especially if people are waiting.
I bought this Sigma lens for my Sony A7cII as I thought that Sony's equivalent GM lens way too expensive, and I have not regretted it at all as my Sigma lens has now really opened my eyes 👀to Sigma's fantastic Art series lenses 👍
great video Pav, I was always a big Sigma 24-70 lover and thus updated lens ticks all the boxes, mainly 10% lighter, the new f-ring, and even faster AF. Just waiting until the price goes down a bit, it‘s 1350€ here in Germany,
Great review as always... Love the bokeh, lots of character, looks a bit vintage in it's rendering. Btw, I don't think you need a dock for firmware updates if you have a Lumix body, I updated my previous 65mm Sigma with a Lumix S5.
The picture look really great! It really makes me wonder if I should upgrade my 28-70 to the version 2 or get version 1 instead since it’s on sale now 🤔
Compared to the original Sony 24-70 GM how much better is this one? I’m looking to buy a 24-70 and found the original 24-70 GM at the same price as the New Sigma 24-70. Which one would you recommend?
Hard to say which one is better. Better for what? There is a lot of factors to take into the consideration. Your personal preference, which one looks better to you, what camera you are using, what is your experience and what you need a lens for. Only you can decide which one is better for you
Every time I watch one of your reviews I want to go out and buy that lens. I've shot with the version 1 and it was close to prime lens image quality. I'm sure this one is as good or better.
I just bought the sigma 28-70 2.8 instead of this mark ii but may change my mind gonna test it out. I went 28-70 for the size, I wish somebody would do a comparison to the 28 and the new markii. cheers
for real estate this would be enough for me. One lens for all. Maybe not ultra wide at 24mm but you could certainly stitch two photos together to get wider field of view. 70mm is great for lifestyle and close-up shots
Hello. First of all, you produce very high quality content! And I have a question. Currently, the new Sigma 24-70 f2.8 ii 1350 eu and the Tamron 35-150 f2.-2.8 are also available for 1350 eu. Which would be worth it more? Is there a difference in image quality between them?
thank you very much! Both great lenses but not the same. Optically, both great. Tamron is much bigger and much heavier than the Sigma. Also it has totally different focal range. Only you can decide which one is right for you and for what you are going to be shooting with it
Just bought the Sigma 28-70 2.8 and am happy with results. It's lighter than the 24-70 and less money. However, I'm thinking it might be worth returning and paying the difference in price for this ver2 24-70. I paid $700 for the 28-70, so not real close in price, but having the extra wide might be worth it. Thank you for always creating helpful content.
YEAAAAA i m stick my hand for not buing the s pro and the sigma mk1 for this, i cant wait to put on my s1r the beast, the only thing i dont like they dont put the internal zoom like the 70-200
@PavSZ Thanks for the review Pav, nice one! What I find strange or funny is that no one talks and compares the original Sigma 24-70 to the new model II about the biggest flaw original had - the stepped aperture in video mode when filming in aperture priority mode. Can you please confirm Pav, does the new Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 DG DN Art Mark II has, smooth or stepped aperture in aperture priority mode (when filming video)? Love from Finlandia 💜.
Thank you for watching. I think that the aperture is controlled electronically, even when the lens has got manual aperture ring. It will be brand and a camera dependent if the changes are smooth, not this lens unfortunately.
@@PavSZ thanks Pav, so the L mount on Panasonic S5II /X of this Sigma still has the stepped aperture as the original, when in aperture priority video mode, right?
@@PavSZ Thank Pav, appreciate your answer! Well I'm pretty sure this behaviour is not present on the Panasonic S Pro 24-70 2.8 lens. It appears to be smooth from what I've heard. Have no way to confirm this 100% though, as I haven't tested it myself. Do you have the Panasonic Pro 24-70? Could you test it, I think it is a super important info for anyone doing run and gun video as a solo shooter?🙏
6:20 nice 24-70 focal length change on a model show. Reverse vertigo like effect. Love it
Cool, thanks!

This lens is exceptional.

As a owner of the Mark 1 (I guess) I really do not see any reason to upgrade unless my lens is stolen. This new lens or the older one are gems.

you can't go wrong with Sigma

Awesome review, Pav! Nice work mate.
Thanks Shane!
Good stuff. Worth upgrading from the 28-70? I appreciate that you put your lightroom presets on the photo examples too, great job.
rf 28-70 L is lens on another level
I've noticed even with a potato you can make some beautiful pictures, your the colors the compositions scream of professionalism❤

version 1 would be upgrade to your 28-70 for sure, both great lenses but you get that little bit extra at the wide end
Amazing work 👏👏. What camera body did you use to take photos? Sorry if I missed in the video....😊
Thank you!
I've used Sony a7IV

these two lenses are in a different class. Although both amazing quality, this is so much more overall
Thinking about getting this lens for real estate, which prime lens would you partner with it for a complete set?
for real estate this would be enough for me. One lens for all.
Maybe not ultra wide at 24mm but you could certainly stitch two photos together to get wider field of view. 70mm is great for lifestyle and close-up shots
I’m stuck between either mark 1 or mark 2
between mark 1 and mark 2 ... is that mark 1.5? 😉
I love that we both said the lens went on a diet hahaha we have been hanging out too much haha
YES!
Great review!
Thank you so much
Thanks!

Is lens profile good for it in lightroom? I find mine not so good
I was testing pre-release version when there was no Lightroom profile for it yet and I didn't think it was that bad. All standard
I sold my Tamron for this, and couldn't be happier. This lens is so good.
nice one!

thank you for watching
i hope this lens will be dust resistance and not like the 1st one.
At 1st one dust dots was everywhere into the glass, even after a walk at the park.
that was a problem only with the first batch of the 1st version and it was quickly fixed
@@PavSZ hope youre right my friend !
@@kostasrestas I am, I made a video about it stating the only serial numbers affected by the problem

Question for videographers, which one would you choose, Sony 24-105 f4 OSS vs new sigma 24-70 art mark 2 f2.8? btw I’m using a Sony zv-e1, thanks!! 🙌
Sigma is a better lens overall but Sony has got better reach
Sigma FTW thanks
Hey Pav, would you be kind to tell me what kind of lens have you used for this talking head video?
Would much appreciated!

I've had no issue with that in field and it makes the camera a lot easier to carry around. I was unsure, but I'm now actually a fan.
Excellent review
For my sony A7 II do you think that sigma II is better than the one?
better for what?
Only you can tell if a lens is good for you based on your budget, experience, needs etc.
Sigma really going toe to toe with Sony especially since Sony just released their 24-70 gm 2. Great review !!
Thanks 🙏
I expect the new Sony 24-70 mm F2 😉👍
That would be dope

@@ZokZTM no, I don't own Lumix lens.
There is a simple and cheap solution to this problem. Variable ND filter
No mention of LOCA?
Shakira's song?
I have mentioned it, very little and very under control. Way above average
ha! Pav you hide it well from us!
Haha! Magic ✨
Version 1 is already great. New version should have been F1.8 or F2
it would be double the size then
with this kind of weight, its better to get two fast primes near each end
it's not. Completely different and changing lenses sometimes is just not practical.
This weight is very good for this kind of zoom. Standard
The bokeh looks really nice
really rock solid lens
❤❤❤
