When you really understand Snape's story and background you feel sympathetic for him (or at least I do) Harry's dad bullied Snape and Snape loved Harry's Mom. Snape tried to constantly protect Harry although sometimes he seemed mean, that was just because he had to teach Harry how to defeat and be ready for Voldemort the hard way.

I agree with you when it comes to movie Snape but book Snape was so much worse to the trio than in the movies. Never the less I do still feel sorry for him.

He gave Albus the quick and merciful death he wanted, saved those people he could without blowing his cover, protected the students from the Carrows as best he could, and saved Remus Lupin's life during the 7 Potters raid. Just a bit of the "good stuff" Snape did that had NOTHING to do with Lily.

I don't think it was talked about or even mentioned, but it was shown of Snape's ability to read minds and hide his own thoughts and memories. Albus choose him out of all the other teachers to teach Harry occulumency knowing fully well of their toxic relationship. It just shows how much Albus trusts Snape and see how powerful he was. Albus does regret his decision after the lessons were ended, but that still doesn't him from giving him dangerous tasks that literally has stand face to face with the enemy. He manages to fool the dark lord, who is known to read minds frequently, to the very end. Voldemort was still unaware that Snape was a spy, that's how powerful and strong snape was throughout the series.

Oh my god I only just realised that Sirius says Snivellus. That's hilarious and sad at the same time.
Sirius was a real bully to certain people. His treatment of Kreacher and Snape being the stand outs. He's nice to Harry because he is family. If you want to see the true measure of a man watch how he treats his "inferiors" not his equals.

DUDE, I always had a part of me actually absolutely goin for Snape, but after the memory of the Marauders and Snape...I felt so sorry for him, if I'd been Harry Potter I'd die on shame for my dad....I never understood why Harry not at least at his death tried to say sorry...
Mmmm, bullying, Not something Harry should be proud of when seeing his father. He was always under the notion his father was a great man,,,,,,but he never knew he was a JERK.
James and Sirius were a jerks. James was a bully, very brave when fighted five against one, and Sirius tried to kill Severus (and James saved him), but Potter and Black´s fanatic forgive this facts all the time.

The irony about Snape in his "training" that he's giving to Harry is that he tells Harry to control his own emotions and not let others get into his mind, yet Snape was all too easily infiltrated by Harry when Harry learned one way to block it.

I think you can see it in his eyes. And the way he says, "no idea," just seems uncharacteristic of him. If he really had no idea, he would've said something like, "The ramblings of a simple 5th year cannot be trusted. Especially one as emotionally disturbed and mentally unstable as this one."

This argument has NEVER made any sense. Snape had NO control over whom Voldemort would or would not kill. He was taking his life in his hands just asking for *Lily's* life to be spared, and even then, he had to lie to Voldemort and make it sound as though he merely DESIRED Lily, not loved her. What in God's name was he supposed to say to Voldemort that would get him to spare Harry or his father?

Severus Snape, Remus Lupin, Nymphadora Tonks FOREVER in my heart!
He bullied Neville Longbottom presumably because Voldemort picked Harry instead of him. If Voldemort had went after the Longbottoms instead, then Lily wouldn't have died. I think he showed bitterness to Neville just like he did to Harry.
As for the good stuff he did towards the end of the book. He was loyal to Dumbledore after he switched sides. The good he did could have more to do with it being a means to and end. Working on Dumbledore's orders. But he still had his bad points.

i always loved the audience reaction in theaters when Snape appears in between Harry's parents in the mirror. I heard a couple people say "Holy S***" during that moment. When a scene is meant to shock people, you know it actually works when they say that.
so funny the way snape just stares straight ahead and stands like a statue when people talk to him.
I kinda hate/love the line when Harry says "My father was a great man" because it sounds so cheesy yet it perfectly sums up what Harry thinks about his father until he sees Snape's memory...

The memory sequences are honestly brilliant and possibly better done than the ones in the book. I love the special effects and sound effects, the surreal feel. I think that so far this is by a landslide the best Snape scene- just wish it could've been more detailed.
Well technically if Snape would never have fallen out with Lily in their 5th-7th years then the both of them would have had happy endings, as Severus definitely had the advantage over James in gaining Lily's affections only losing to James mainly because of he began to delve into the Dark Arts and was planning on joining the Death Eaters James would probably have moved on in time as unlike Severus, Lily wasn't the only close relationship he had.
severus describes at the beginning as a loner suddenly becoming friends with 2 deep morons like Avery and Mulciber (equivalent of Goyle and Grabble) as if he were an equivalent of Draco, these 2 morons who persecute muggle-borns but who accept as a friend a guy who betrays cause by dating a Muggle-born, no proof of being a Death Eater until Dumbledore says so at Karkaroff's trial but lily knows he's going to join them in 6th year, and severus who's so dumb he thinks she will love it! ... if JK could have avoided taking his readers for idiots....

I really love the effect Umbridge has on students and teachers alike. I liked how she tucked their shirts and tightened their ties. Like seriously, they needed that. Our school had really strict rules and we never had a problem with that. We had fun despite following all of them.
I just dont get it why she is given so much hate. I find her really entertaining and funny. Irritating at times but entertaining as such

Whether it was done on purpose or accidently, I find 4.25 to be a very clever and interesting scene, Snape literally steps into the Mirror of Erised, seperating Lily and James away from each other, but standing next to Lily, as if like a third parent, but a nevertheless reluctant parent/guardian to Harry, I just love foreshadowing :)
