Sorry. This maybe a silly question, but do I need to be able to sit like that from the beginning or can I just do this with crossed legs? I haven’t done yoga in 20 years and I’m recovering from surgery. Hoping to start this today but definitely can’t sit like that at the moment. Thanks so much.

I wish Charlie had begun by saying (as she has done in her other beginner videos and shorts) that you can begin in a more comfortable seated position, and that your first attempts at poses won't look like hers! As she has said elsewhere, it's more about doing what you're comfortable doing and not pushing a position too hard to try for 'perfection'.
Tl;Dr: You're not to look like she does. That took her years to achieve.

@@shilpashanticheung Hey it's not a silly question at all, please sit however is accessible, I stack my legs because it's comfier for me but you can cross your legs.

I am not a beginner. I have been doing yoga for 15 years but I am in year 3 of a daily yoga practice and it has transformed my life both physically and mentally. Your channel is a huge reason why I have a daily yoga practice still going strong and constantly challenging me in ways words can not describe.
To begining yogis, the hardest part is showing up. Rolling out the mat and pressing play. If you make it that far, today was victorious! Don't be hard on yourself through this journey. Every day is a learning experience. Remember, we dont "do" yoga. We practice yoga. Good luck to everyone on their journey. I'll be right alongside you. ❤ 🧘‍♀️

@@aladysimaginationI know you didn’t ask me, but I love Charlie’s classes. I have used her TH-cam classes since discovering her in May 24, and bought her programs so I could target specific areas as well. I loved her splits program, I highly recommend them (both side and front). This year I think I’ll focus on upper body. I’m 50 and love the strength training aspect of her programs (my hip pain is gone after doing her splits programs). I’ll always do her TH-cam classes for my daily practice though. She’s very inspiring, even to us older ladies. I wish you the best in your journey this year!

I’m not a beginner, but recently being diagnosed with cancer and a heart defect, my body started to slowly stop working the way it used to. I am now starting over at beginner yoga to help my body just be and help it to naturally begin healing and you have been a large part of my journey to getting my body healthy again. So I am starting day one and I plan to go all the way to day 30 with you each morning.

Dear Newbies: If youre feeling overwhelmed, please remember we all were new once - the important thing is having the courage and commitment to show up, not to master every move. You have made an investment in YOU and that is awesome!! I wish you so much success!
I'm not new to yoga, but definitely needed a refresher - amazing how our positioning begins getting haphazard if we don't think about it consciously!
Learned two new things today- the flipping the palms over in child's position to release my sore wrists AND engaging glutes and abs in Chaturunga - such small changes with huge payoffs! Thank you Charlie!

I’ve been practicing yoga for 4 years now, mainly with Charlie, if you are new try and stick with it, my body has become much more supple and my balance has improved which for my age (68) is imperative for me, Charlie’s pace is perfect, she doesn’t let you jam into poses which would harm your joints and her pace is great for beginners and improvers alike

Thank you for your guidance. At 50+ years young, I spent a large portion of 2024 trying to figure out yoga and frequently wanted to give up but I stuck with Charlie. What I found out is what they all say, it's very humbling in that what looks easy can be very challenging, it's a personal journey listening to your body and mind and it all starts with the breath. Breath is the place where our attention, thoughts and reactions sit..... it sounds really easy but the journey into the breath is very personal and can bring it's own challenges which are less physical but really supporting and uplifting. Looking forward to 2025 with Charlie. 🎉

This was like a warm welcome back, thank you so much! I remember doing last year's 30 days challenge in january after doing yoga on-off for a year and I loved it so much that I (re-)started practicing almost on a daily basis and learning to be comfortable with things not working out perfectly immediatly and having fun with it.
I am a person who struggles with consistency: I have my phases where I exercise every day and then a couple months later I just stop completely and start feeling guilty about it. This practice was the first in months, months where I was travelling a lot, starting a new job, writing my master's thesis. Today's practice was such a beautiful moment of just being with my body, acknowledging that it isn't as strong as it used to be but still appreciating all it can do and how great it can feel to inhabit it. I want to be kinder to myself this year and I have a feeling this 30 day challenge will be a step towards that. Looking forward to it!

Thank you for this class! I have been doing yoga on and off for years, and last year's 30 day challenge was supposed to be my push to start doing yoga more consistently and consciously. I loved the challenge but did not get to finish it because I fell ill. I have lost a lot of strength over the past year, which has been quite frustrating, when classes that used to be my rest day classes now feel almost like power yoga. I hope this challenge will be a beautiful reset, to get to know what I am capable of now and build back some strength and stamina. Not lamenting what I have lost, but celebrating what I am doing for myself and my body now.

I still consider myself a beginner as I still have so much to learn, and the one thing that always lacked in my journey was a back-to-basics challenge. Everything I’ve learned has been through trial and error and I’m thrilled to finally have a guide through the foundational poses and breathing techniques that will help to progressively add on more as the challenge moves forward.
To those who are just beginning - just show up. That is the hardest part but when you show up consistently, you will look back and be grateful you did. I know I am.
Thanks for being a constant in my life Charlie! I’m not sure where I would be without you. ♥️

    Charlie,
Two surgeries left me carved and stumbling, unsure how to rebuild. Your channel isn’t just yoga-it’s a reclamation, a steady fight for balance where strength isn’t gifted but earned. Every pose maps the body back to itself, no softness, no lies. Thank you for holding the space where we begin again.

I have been doing yoga for 8 years now starting with these types of challenges is how my journey with yoga began and every practice I always seem to find something new about my body that I notice. This practice today is no different. Depending on the time of day or how I feel can affect this and today's practice is a reminder that starting with the basics is an amazing way to remember where I started. An amazing practice today. To all the beginners I was once a beginner too keep on going and before you know it years later you will thank your past self. Thank you Charlie cant wait to continue on this challenge. Love the calm and simple cues. Helps me to picture where my body needs to be with the reminder to breathe. Looking forward to day 2!

Hello Charlie, I started following you in June 2024 and have been using your routine as my cooldown after my weights workout and some 30-40 minutes of full body yoga during rest days. I consider myself always a beginner and today January 3,2025 is my first day doing your challenge. I do appreciate everything you do for us your followers. Thank you.

To everyone who started the challenge today ( I’ll be restarting the first challenge she ever posted it’s like a portfolio of 30’different types of videos) , whether you’re new to Charlie or not- she’s a wonderful teacher and puts so much thought and planning into these challenges. They’re a complete program. All 3 previous were complete in 3 different ways! I feel that it’s DEFINITELY worth it to do them everyday in order! You’ll benefit from it so much!
Happy yoga challenge ! Is the same as happy new year to me 😉. I started yoga mid January 2023 (a different teachers 30 days challenge-Charlie didn’t have beginner videos then). Committed to 365 days of yoga march 6rh and this march 6th I’ll be completing the 2nd…k I’m proud of myself but my point is. .I sincerely hope someone falls in love with yoga like I did from a random search for something to do to feel better …and gets even a tiny bit of self… confidence, worth, respect, control…and patience and the ability to commit to something ahead of time and follow through…….like I did!
And even if you don’t fall in love- and you have found joy in the challenge or one or two days, then I am happy you got to experience Charlie follows yoga.
    She’s the best.

#30daysofyogawithcharlie I loved it and could do it even with health and mobility issues. Had some neck and shoulder stuff thru it, but had had that all day already. Your voice is so calming. Bless you and thankyou for making such an accessible challenge. I think slowly moving up is brilliant for one, and most font do that. Praying it helps with some of my alignment issues. You told me a while back to stick to beginner for right now instead of buying any of your programs, and I am grateful because there were a lot of pain issues and illness ince then and I may have given up. This will be a great speed and have so much hope. I just celebrated my 50th birthday and didn't want to get there broken and sick, so I changed it - my 69th year will be better and I'll take better care with energy and movement so that it will be a good year. Thankyou so much!!

I truly am grateful for your having put this together so we can all start the new year with health and self-care. Cheers to everyone for completing day 1.

I'm not a beginner, been practicing yoga for 13 years, off & on. Lost a lot strength during the pandemic because I couldn't go to class and was lazy. Finally found some instructors I vibed with (Charlie being one of them) and the motivation to practice from home. Been focusing on a short daily practice for the last half year or so. I'm really grateful for the chance to rediscover movement & rebuild strength. If you're new, just remember that every journey is unique and we all progress at our own paces.

Getting into a new year has always been challenging for me because I'm just terrified about what the future holds and I'm also anxious about letting the old (and familiar) year go. So this challenge comes at the right time for me, to help myself ease into the new year.
I just wanted to leave this comment to remind myself that I did it. I rolled out that mat and I did the practice. I thought about quitting 4 times during the practice. But I held on and carried myself through it. And I'm proud of that.

My only one suggestion, a very minor one, is having a bit of ambient background sound. I love that you don't use music or 'fake' recordings over the top of your videos, one of the main things that drew me to you, but on a couple of your previous videos a bit of birdsong or water sounds crept in from your environment and it made it even more grounding, as it felt like I was there with you ✨
Thank you so juch for doing this series 🙏🏼
