I have a new Browning Xbolt Hells Canyon Speed LR 280 Ackley Improved. 1@8 26 inch barrel. I almost bought the Savage Ultralite 280AI. But i wanted a 24 inch barrel. And went with the Browning. I ordered the Recoil Hog muzzle brake. So it dont get dirt in my face.
Thank you very much, as have I the performance thus far has been outstanding. It has been used to harvest 3 AZ Mule Deer already all one shot. I hope to use it on elk as well if I ever get lucky enough to draw a good tag in AZ. Thanks for watching! -- Jeremiah

I've noticed that a lot of the sheep hunters really like the 280 AI. I like the projectile and the more standard weight and size over the 7 Magnum. Nice video!
Indeed it fits in a standard length (30-06) action and standard magazine, plus it's a fast 7mm with good bullet selection available. I must admit it is a personal favorite of mine but I also have a soft spot for unique cartridges. Thank you for watching we are glad you enjoyed it! --Jeremiah
@Chase Langley So ballistically they are very very similar in velocity and downrange energy, in practical terms they are too close to give one the edge over the other. The advantage of the SAUM is it is a short action cartridge... However most people go with a long action and or extended magazine because they want to shoot longer higher BC bullets. If that is the case it is a moot point. As far as accuracy both seem to be accurate cartridges. Early on with the SAUM there were feeding issues however I think those have pretty much been resolved. I would say more than anything it boils down to personal preference. Personally I like the .280 AI because I like the history and I like shooting the longer higher BC bullets so I would have a long action anyway. excellent quality brass is available for both Cartridges and some factory ammo is available as well although I would say there is better variety with the .280 AI. However, I truly think it boils down to personal preference.
Can you at Fink's Gunsmithing machine the metal from a 460 XVR 8 3/8 full lug barrel down to look like a half-lug barrel in its contour? I want less weight out front and a more aesthically pleasing proportion to the barrel.
I have sent an email to them with your question and hope to receive a response soon. His phone # is 928-756-8916 if you want to give him a call you may be able to get a response faster. Thanks for reaching out and watching the video!

Where is Finks located?
He is located in Paulden AZ at the world renowned Gunsite academy.
Which leupold scope is that?
Great looking rifle in a cartridge that I have always thought highly of.

@@HandloaderTV You’re welcome and good luck getting a quality elk tag.
@@nmelkhunter1 Thank you! -- Jeremiah
Love the muzzle-brake design.
It really is quite efficient we had a similar one made for a 28 Nosler we've been testing!

I’d like to get a approximate cost of a rifle like this. Without the special engraving, perhaps someone can get back to me, thank you

Nice efficient cartridge maximization. Love the 280 Ackley Improved and 7mm bullet performance.
Thank you very much we are very big fans of the .280 AI and this one was very unique we had to share it!

Absolutly. If you would like to send us some photos of your existing barrel that will give us a good idea of the Labor involved.
Beautiful rifle! What ammo/loads did he dial it in with?
both of those targets were shot with factory Nosler ammo 140 grain ballistic tips very good factory ammo is available from Nosler.
I was told you can shoot 280 rem still I. The AI chamber safely is that true
Yes it is true, you can safely shoot 280 Rem in the AI chamber, However I would not expect impressive accuracy doing so.
