Appreciate all the tremendous info on new fishing spots. I started coming out here with my friend and his family about 10 yrs ago and they have kept me stuck to Baker Creek/Big Pine, Tinnemaha, and Lake Sabrina. Lol.
THANKS FOR THE INFO BEEN THERE A FEW TIMES, DEFIANTLY THE FLOW FROM APRIL TO OCT. CAN CAN BE QUITE DIFFERENT. HOPE TO MAKE A TRIP UP THERE THIS MONTH. CHEERS!
You want to launch from the north side where the video starts out... You can also come up from the dam... But that's a big hill and a really steep shoreline to walk down to get to the water ... Overall it's about the same but you would be better off coming in from the inlet side, especially if you're going to float tube it. The current isn't bad unless the wind is howling. If you have two cars with you, you can start out on one side and kick to the dam.
@@TroutWest the bite was on fire! I was fishing a midge and a spoon for the deeper fish, my cousin had on a 2 inch minnow with a ball jig head. We lost count around 15. Nice rainbows with a couple hook jaws. A few browns. And one of the most beautiful rainbow trout I've ever seen. The colors were so vibrant and the patterns 🤯
What side/spot would you recommend to start this time of year (January) on a float tube? Thanks for the info I am getting ready to hopefully catch my first fish there
What ever side the wind is blowing from...you do not want to kick against the wind at this lake. Watch out for Debris (Floating logs/sticks) in the water..they are moving water a lot this time of year. Good luck on the trip. For the latest reports on PVR, check out my patreon link.
The big browns are in there. I have better luck climbing down from the other side about in the middle and using Ant Eggs. Big hook jaw browns go for those.
A good portion of the land that you just highlighted as being illegal to camp in, because it’s LA City, it’s actually BLM land and perfectly legal to camp, if there’s an existing spot as long as you’re not blocking the road. Make sure you have a XMaps or BLM map.
No... 100% disagree. This video is very well researched. You can go to blm.gov and pull up their viewer and see that ladwp owns 100% of gorge road and quite a bit of a buffer that surrounds it which would include the illegal camping spots that I mentioned in the video. There are BLM options in the area but in this video there are no BLM sites depicted as illegal. Thanks for watching
My parents got there two bikes stolen while they was fishing pleasant valley near the dock area in the 90s so I would bring the bikes down or lock em up
Past few trips up there (Aug ‘21-Feb ‘22) have been PACKED with fishermen and parking is ridiculous.…….safe to say after this video, PVR will officially be overcrowded. Time to find new spots……
I appreciate you giving my channel that much credit to crowd a place... But being that there are only 10 or so parking spots it's not hard to crowd that parking lot. Thanks for watching.

I was fishing Lower Owens just below Pleasant Valley Campground today. Never had much luck at the reservoir.

It's easy to end up fishing the same spots
Great info as always! Really appreciate the drone footage overlay on top of the Google Maps image.
More of these to come!
Last year when I was at PVR the wind was gusting at 70
It can rip there!!
Outstanding video! Thanks! Lots of great information.
Glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching.

Appreciate you checking out the video
Got to be a lot of people who appreciate that info.
Fantastic coverage and commentary. Thanks, dude. Where to carry in and launch a float tube? Is the current strong?

just did the blake jones tournament my sons scooter saved me a 30min walk
That's the way to go!
Just yesterday I was just fishing the mud ledge you were warning about with my cousin. They let some water go and he almost got swept away.
Yeah that's always a possibility there! Especially if they are expecting upstream water flow. How's the reservoir fishing?

@@menotyou816 nice! Sounds like a great trip!!
@@TroutWest it was one of the best times I've ever had out there. Highest numbers for sure. Can't wait for the opener

Are there any bass?
There are! But not many target them. Also perch. If you want bass .. hit the lower Owens and canals
Can you use float tubes/ inflatable boats?
You can!
