I feel bad for Eddies coach. If you honestly believe that he told Eddie to keep his guard down and only throw haymakers you're out of your mind. This loss is 100% because of Eddies ego.

I also liked Eddie before last couple of weeks, and was sympathetic about 2017. But he came out with a lot of nasty trash talk, akin to Connar McTap, and promised he would smash Thor to pieces as well as have the cardio conditioning to last the full distance.
Except what happened is Eddie looked like a fat trailer trash w@nker, didn't look like he'd ever practiced boxing before, got gassed out in less than 5 minutes, and got his assed badly kicked by Thor. Thor meanwhile looked strong, ripped and fit, boxed like a competent boxer, had the conditioning to last 6 rounds. He also won.

It's easy to blame the coach when your favorite doesn't win. I don't doubt that the coach probably gave in to Eddie claiming he knows what to do and actually believed him. Eddie speaks in a very convincing way and is pretty good at making his supporters think he's better than what he actually is. I wouldn't be surprised if Eddie showed more of the fundamentals in sparring than in the actual fight, I'm pretty sure he just felt more comfortable doing his own thing and used that crab stance to launch the knockout punch that never happened.
I reckon it was Eddie at fault rather than his coach. I can't imagine anyone easily giving Eddie advice, he seems like the type of guy that always believes that he knows best. Like in the presser when the coaches were asked for their comments and Eddie insisted on answering on his coach's behalf. His slur against Thor and his yes men is probably him projecting.
Well he was kicked out of gb swimming squad for questionable behaviour towards coaches.
With strongman, he did a lot on his own and it worked but with boxing, you need to listen to the coach.
I reckon Eddie couldn't handle the coach disagreeing with what Eddie pictures boxing to be. In boxing the strongest Man doesn't always win

It's funny how it starts off with how great Eddie is and how Thor's clumsy to then change to "Yeah all comes down to what coach you have, Eddie could've won that". True Geordie's huffing that copium hard. Even if Eddie's able to hit hard with those giant hooks, none of it matters if it's all he's got and nearly every time it did connect it was either shallow, a graze or straight into a block. Frankly Eddie got off lucky and I hope this deflates his ego a bit. Just a bit.

Thor's technique was fairly solid for a beginner. Eddie looked like the hunchback off 300 half the time.

I wouldn't say thors a beginner hes had a few fights as a boxer eddie was the beginner as it was his first fight and his inexperience showed. Thor had the edge in experience

Eddie was let down by Eddie ... his coach was a "yes man", which ironically Eddie claimed Thor had. His hubris made him think his power was absolute and that something as "basic" as a jab (again another Eddie quote) wouldnt be able to defeaty him. Hopefully Eddie moves on now and returns to being the happy character we all loved and not the bitter school bully he has been over the last few weeks/months.

The ironic thing is that Eddie has been the one to surround himself with yes men. Seems like no one in his team had the guts to tell him his preparation was BS. Eddie's punches weren't actually landing. Thor's footwork was enough to mitigate any of the actual force from Eddie's punches, specifically in round one.
agreed -Thor looked like an amateur thats in the earlier part of their career, keeping it pretty simple but respecting the basics and fundamentals and trying to stick to them. Eddie seemed like the guy that knows better that just wants to win and win quick
He landed some big shots but I dont think they were quite as hard as they looked because his technique is so poor. Thor definitely took them with no problem and I was really impressed with his chin.
Eddie was his own coach man, no boxing fundamentals what so ever, you need to get the basics down, Thor did that so he deserved the win.
Thor deserved it, and most importantly, earned it. This fight was won in the gym with all his hard work.
Eddie trained as if boxing was his hobby. Thor trained like it was his life; completely changed diet, physique and focus. Easy prediction for the fight but overall VERY entertaining

It became pretty clear months ago that Thor was taking the training for this fight seriously and Eddie's training wasn't really boxing focused. Thor linking up with Billy Nelson and putting in the graft won him this fight! Big respect to both men, both strongman legends.
When deluded meets reality, Eddie needed this beating. His ego has gotten so big over the past year it’s changed him as a person.

Eddie was absolutely terrible, was embarrassing. 2 years to prepare and he looked like he hadn’t taken the boxing training seriously at all. Thor on the other hand actually had a half decent boxing technique and was the clear winner

To everyone who says this was a close fight, realize this, Eddie gave it his all in the first two rounds. Those were the rounds where he was at his strongest and Hafthor took those blows without it hampering his performance at all in the subsequent rounds. On the contrary, after 3, Hafthor increased the pressure while Eddie was pretty much tapped, saving his already limited reserves for big shots only.
Basically, the fight only looked "close" because it was 6 rounds. Add another 4 rounds for a 10 rounder and Eddie might've face planted a few more times.

It really wasn't that close. Eddie landed 90% of his best punches in the first 30 seconds. Outside of that and the first 10 seconds of the second, it was all Thor. And the funny thing is, Thor's biggest punches were much bigger than Eddie's biggest punches
And if Thor was a little more aggressive and let his left go more especially after hurting Eddie he would have knocked him out for sure. Thor played it safe and stuck to his game plan and I dont fault him for it, but he definitely could have ended Eddie with just a little more confidence and aggression. Either way he handled business and put Eddie in his place.

That's when a lot of boxers, even seasoned ones lose their control and get careless by going all out.

One of the most satisfying moments I've ever had. Seeing that Ego maniac Eddie getting destroyed and Brian's whole prophecy of Eddie "dying before he loses " falling to the ground.
Eddie's stance was so awkward. It's like he was leaning over. He also had his hands down, which is probably why he got dropped multiple times. He didn't throw enough. He should have just went for it and pressured Thor, but Thor just simply put in much more work in the boxing gym.

Thors coach and boxers that trained with him had been saying all week that he’s improved a lot and is going to surprise people. All of Eddie’s footage was edited clips of him throwing haymakers. We never saw how long he could keep that going for and he was sparring in a tiny ring where he didn’t have to move around much.
Well thor has more experience in boxing then Eddie has hence the reason he won eddie just got too predictable

I think Brian’s preview/prediction video was all spot on. However I think EVERYTHING he said and thinks about boxing (such as the better boxer always wins etc.) should have lead to him predicting Thor to win, but he chose Eddie.

I feel bad for Eddie’s coach, from day 1 I could tell Eddie was too arrogant to take advice from someone else. His coach is pretty much silent in all videos, doesn’t seem to have a say, even in the press conference, Eddie spoke on behalf of his coach.
Eddie was awful, yeah the height advantage didn’t help but he wasn’t in good shape, his cardio was mid to day the least, and he clearly didn’t focus on boxing training as much as he should have, should’ve bun the weights and maximised boxing and conditioning

Eddie fell victim to his over confidence and refusing to take any advice he didn’t want to hear.
Someone should’ve told him to cut the weights in training, should’ve gotten his sparring partners to push him WAY more than they were and someone needed to teach him the basic fundamentals of boxing.
Being stubborn and surrounding yourself with yes-men is a recipe for failure.
There were literally thousands of people telling him this, his comments were full of comments saying these exact things and many boxers were also saying them. He just refused to listen and let his ego take over, he thought he knew something nobody else knew and was confident he would knock Thor out with a big right. He probably shat himself a little in that first round after he landed a few big shots and Thor ate them for breakfast.

This was actually a decent match. Eddie opened the match with a bang, both dropped each other and Thor outboxed Eddie pretty well. While Eddie's defence was horrible his head movement was good. Thor had kept his distance and smashed Eddie. They didn't clinch at all either. People thought it would be a boring since they both would gass out but it was a really entertaining match.

The fact Eddie was just throwing a right hand at Thor the whole fight kind of gives it away that its not due to coaches not teaching him anything for two year or whatever but more Eddie doing what he wanted to do and that was KO Thor as quick as possible, i can see why people instantly thought COACH but its also a little disrespectful to just straight up blame a coach and team when from videos you can clearly see Eddie doing the traditional boxing but then gets in the ring and does zero traditional boxing thats on Eddie, wanted Eddie to win and he hits hard but if you throw everything you've been taught out the window and go on a one hand KO the whole night once you fail to KO them its too late to win on points so its down to Eddie.

Eddie seemed to be caught in the bright lights of the occassion, adrenaline dumped early - forgot to keep his gloves up, never used the jab, never circled used feints nor used any footwork to create good distance. None of the stuff we saw with his sparring or training was here, it was literally panic.
He could have won had he held his nerve early on. But Thor nailed him good and deservedly won.
Glad Eddie lost this. He was just moaning wayy too much about WSM. That weird ass stance Eddie had was weird. Didn't Eddie tear his bicep? That's the only reason I could think of for him fighting like a side standing crab lol. Hope Eddie will stfu now. Thor was actually being civil. Eddie was still moaning at the end when Thor came over like a clown. 2 years of boxing practice. Hope Eddie doesn't do this again.
you just said it, his left arm was compromised thats why he was fighting mostly in southpaw stance / barely throwing his left

I can't believe how no top comments indicate Eddie's southpaw stance change during the fight bcoz his natural stance is orthodox clearly , I mean if u train boxing , u know how the only shot u can throw comfortably in southpaw as orthodox is the right hook!
I knew that Eddie will lose. Every competitor supported by TG gets cracked .

As much as I like Eddie it seems that one man respected boxing more then the other. Thor by all accounts appears to have actually studied the sport and utilised his range and did the exhibitions to get that extra bit of experience. Eddie I think did the minimum of boxing training whilst just thinking he was going to kick the piss out of Thor.
Your boyfriend got beat by the better fighter on the night. I'm glad you brought up Eddie's stamina because I remember you & everyone else saying "Eddie had awesome stamina. He used to be a pro swimmer." I also said....Boxing is a completely different ball game. But, nooooo!! Lol

I think Eddie and his camp underestimated how difficult fighting is. Thor and his camp respected boxing more than Eddie did. Eddie tried to hard to end it early with every punch and it became far too predictable
I knew Thor would win but I was really impressed with Eddie’s heart.
