IMPORTANT: for some reason golden keys have been removed from both main quests and weekly event rewards. I still don't know why, but I contacted support and I'am still waiting for a response to find out if they will be permanently removed from the game.

I have 85 golden keys and the maximum number of keys needed to get the Legendary Clydesdale is 90 keys. I didn't buy any key, I won them all in the weekly event.

How do you get the ancient keys?

the weekly event, 4 races every week, if you get top 100 you get 5 golden keys and top 101-1000 you get 5 silver keys.

unfortunately in the last update they removed the golden keys from the weekly event prizes😭, I don't understand why. Now these keys can only be obtained by completing the main quests.
